Crime / Ife Crisis: Hausa Killed An Ife Man Before Retaliation (picture) by horlak(m): 3:15pm On Mar 20, 2017
I live in Ife and was present in Ife before, during and after the crisis. Different versions of the cause had been circulating round the media.

A version said it was a fight between a driver (Yoruba) and a Hausa man. Another version said it was between a Hausa man and a lady who hawked rice while the most popular version said it was between a Hausa man and wife of a NURTW chairman. Whatever caused it, the crisis had come and gone.

The latest issue about the crisis is the news carrying by Naij.com which claims that Mukaila 'the vulcaniser' who was said to had been beheaded is still alive. Well, whatever the case may be. I can authoritatively say Hausa killed a Yoruba man first before the brutal reprisal.

The person killed happened to be someone who lived in my area. This man was an Okada man who left home that very morning not knowing the Hausas were planning to go on rampage.
He was killed that morning. His death was one of those that were killed early that morning before Yoruba retaliated.

Culture / How We Are Battling Recession In Ile - Ife- Ooni Ogunwusi (pictures) by horlak(m): 11:54am On Feb 22, 2017
His Imperial Majesty, Ooni Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi Ojaja II has highlighted how He and His subjects tackle the recession that is facing the nation. Ooni Ogunwusi made explained the measure being taken by Ife at the just concluded 'Aje Day's in Ile - Ife

HOW WE ARE BATTLING RECESSION IN ILE-IFE - OONI OGUNWUSI

The Ooni of Ife, His Imperial Majesty Ooni Adeyeye Ogunwusi, Ojaja II has said that the ancient city of Ile-Ife has devised cultural tourism revolution as a veritable tool in battling recession reducing it's effects to a minimal lever on his people and Nigerians.

He said this during the celebration of this year's AJE festival(festival of wealth) in Ile-Ife on Monday attended by residents, guests and worshippers from different parts of the world who were seen praying for wealth and abundance.

Ooni said trade by barter remained one of the best trading systems in the world, regretting that Nigeria and other African countries began to have economic challenges when they relegated traditional trading methods.

To revive Nigeria and Africa economy, the Spiritual leader of Yoruba race advised that the nature should be upheld in addition to massive involvement in agriculture.

When asked if non-celebration of the festival contributed to the economic hardship in Nigeria, the Ooni said in affirmative that "It is because we are not paying obeisance to what we should paying it to. Before colonisation started, our forefathers did all these and they survived in abundance".
He said, "We are paying obeisance to the creation of God. Aje is something that everybody craves for. If we do what we are supposed to be doing, we will be a leading country in the world as it used to be at some point and things will turn around".

The well loved monarch added that "It is even turning around for us already in Ile-Ife. We don't have anything that we do than worship the Almighty God and paying high obeisance to nature as mysteries created by God in which nobody can do without, that is why everything is booming for us despite the recession. We are focusing on agriculture and youths empowerment too. This is one thing other race and nation can emulate."

The foremost African monarch concluded his speech with a brief history of AJE and Ejigbomekun MARKET explaining that "Aje(deity of wealth) is a mother and goddess created at the dawn of time sent to the earth alongside Olokun(goddess of oceans) just like God also sent the duo of Obatala as Olofin owuro kutukutu and Oranfe Onile ina(Osangangan).

While Aje and Olokun served and have since become the supernatural benefactors of earthly wealth for mankind, Obatala Olofin owuro kutukutu and Oranfe(Sango) Osangangan were and still remain the custodians of morning and afternoon respectively who combined efforts to build EJIGBOMEKUN market(EJI in Yoruba means TWO) with cowries used as means of exchange after trade by barter.

All race of the world spent cowries as the first currency in the world created by nature from beneath the sea. It was first spent and discovered at Ejigbomekun market in Ile-Ife under the administration of AJE". Ooni Ogunwusi explained.

Iyaloja General of Nigeria, Chief Mrs Folashade Tinubu-Ojo who led hundreds of leaders of markets from across Nigeria to the event urged leaders in the country to use the opportunity of Aje festival to intensify efforts in ending recession in the country.

"Today is about our tradition, culture. Aje is a very important festival to boost our economy. I hope government will provide the enabling environment to keep this up. All countries have their tradition and ways of getting things resolved. Our leaders should work tirelessly to ensure that recession is not allowed to stay." Iyaloja General said.

Popular Musician, Wasiu Ayinde (Kwam 1), saluted the determination of the Ooni Ogunwusi for ensuring that culture of the yoruba race does not perish.

"I am here to celebrate Aje which symbolises wealth. I congratulate Ooni for being the custodian of tradition. It furthers shows the richness of yoruba culture and this should continue," he added.

Owa eredunmi of Ife, Oba Olaoluwa Omiwenu said by celebrating Aje always, the deity would make the economy flourish.

Obalara of Ile-Ife, Chief oluwagbemiga Adebayo, said the festival was used to appeal to God for the provision of wealth for Nigerians.

"When we discovered that everywhere is tight and poverty was much. We we talk to the Almighty Olodumare through Ifa Oracle and we were told to celebrate AJE . This has solution to economic recession. The shortage of fund won't make traders sell well and every gets to suffer". Obalara said.

Lowa Ate of Ife, High Chief Adebowale Olafare speaking on behalf of the Kingmakers described Ooni Ogunwusi as the messiah sent by God to free Yoruba from economic hardship through culture and tourism. He said the Ooni has undoubtedly within a year recorded colossal success in his revolution of culture and tourism.

"Baba is God sent, he is the messiah of our time, he has come to liberate the black race the neglect of culture and tradition which is responsible for economic suffering. His passion to make life abundantly enjoyable for us in Ife Kingdom and Yorubaland is unrivaled". High Chief Lowa Ate stated.

As a key promoter of AJE festival, Chief Mrs Toyin Kolade, the Iyalaje of Apapa, in Lagos and very close ally of Ooni Ogunwusi expressed satisfaction at the success of 2017 AJE festival which she said is a catalyst for the economic and commercial greater things to happen in Yorubaland and Nigeria as a whole. The erudite international biz woman added that "To live long in good health, you need to pay for something.

The importance of Aje is beyond a mere celebration, it is a collection of all form of trading to build the economy of the nation. It is a uniting factor to wealth and an element that no one dislikes". Toyin Kolade added.

AJE fondly called "Oguguluso Onisooboji" formed Oja Ejigbomekun as the first market in the world with the joint efforts of Oranfe Onile ina and Obatala owuro kutukutu.

OJA IFE(Ejigbomekun) became the birthplace for profit, wealth, business, trade, advancement and economic development. Eledumare(God) gave AJE, mother of 2 children ERE(profit) and ESU ERE(anxiety of profit) some cowries from Olokun's pot as the first currency to trade at the market.

The immigrants later to these cowries as symbol of AJE to invoke her spirit and establish her model of trade and commerce in various markets around the world.

The descendants of Oranfe Onile ina still till today gather at the spot of AJE's shop within Ejigbomekun market where she served as Iyaloja.

AJE is a deity associated with festivities like Olojo festival. Mankind still works for to earn a living and we toil lifetime for her in OJA IFE in Ile-Ife and globally as her spirit still answers the call of those who seek her sincerely.

Signed;
Comrade Moses Olafare,
Director, Media and Public Affairs,

Jobs/Vacancies / Unpaid N-power Stipends: States` Focal Persons Suffer In Silence by horlak(m): 10:18am On Feb 19, 2017
The Initiative for Sound Education, Relationship and Health a Non-profit, non-governmental organization has voiced out on the plight of N-POWER volunteers who are yet to be paid their monthly stipends for almost three months after being deployed to their various PPA

*UNPAID NPOWER STIPENDS: States’ Focal Persons Suffering in Silence!!!*

Since the inception of the Npower Application in 2016, our organization has taken a lead in covering, monitoring, and now, playing oversight functions on the scheme. Our unacknowledged official roles and supports for the scheme are immeasurable. Some Npower Volunteers have even forgotten the existence of the official Npower Help Lines, and now heavily rely on the information released by the Initiative for Sound Education, Relationship & Health (ISERH) through the page we created during the Programme’s Assessment Test named Npower Assessment Help Line. This was the page we used/use to address hundreds of challenges facing the Npower Volunteers during and even after the Assessment. The facebook page that now has about 5,000 LIKES is heavily relied upon by the selected and yet-to-be selected Npower Volunteers for information since the 3 official mobile lines of Npower are not reachable while the complaints forwarded to their email:selection@npower.gov.ng are left unacknowledged and unaddressed.

It is of importance to know that this organization (ISERH) exposed the incidence of Npower website crash that happened in June, 2016 which led to the lost of over 2 million applicants’ profiles. We also sought for the closing date’s extension of this programme’s application in July 2016 when we were in a meeting called by the Hon. Minister for Budget and National Planning, Sen. Udoma Udo Udoma. At the event that took place in Banquet Hall, State House, I personally pointed out to the minister that information dissemination challenge is the major setback of Npower Scheme. We went further to help some State’s Npower Focal Persons in answering some questions Npower team failed to address. We strengthen the understanding of lots of stakeholders (SUBEB, NOA, LG etc) across the federation on Npower Scheme. We granted lots of media interviews and wrote lots of piece for people to get enlightened on the scheme.

For the past 2 months, this organization (ISERH) and myself have been silent to the ugly scenes that are been played out by Npower Team, State’s Focal Persons, and many other self-paraded authority on Npower issues. We never responded to over 1,000 complaints on our facebook page, over 500 text messages, and over 3,000 complaint mails sent through Emails and WhatsApp on different Npower issues. This, as we observed, further depressed the Npower Volunteers the more, increased pressures on states’ focal persons and local authority staff. I read lots of abuse and curses on Npower Team, Focal Persons and even ISERH by the volunteers via their WhatsApp Groups.

Little did Npower Volunteers know that we are doing this to help them. Neither Npower team, focal persons nor anyone supported us with a dime. We spent from our organization’s cover to provide these services. I hardly sleep in the night as I attend to calls, WhatsApp Messages, Emails etc. Despite the fact that I am out of the country at present, I still attend to Npower issues while my team at home are relentlessly engaging our sources of information. All expenses paid by Initiative for Sound Education, Relationship & Health and our Team.

On the issue of unpaid stipend, the sincere fact about it is that each State’s Focal Persons are as ignorant about its causes as the beneficiaries. What worries me most is their attitude of parading themselves as if they have a SAY on the payment of the stipend or knowing why you are not paid. With the attitude displayed by this set of people, my heart bleeds for our nation on why we have unfits as leaders! What stops these people from telling the truth that they are ignorant of the reasons behind the failure of Npower to pay the December and January stipends of the majority of these volunteers They still continue adding salt to the wound of the volunteers by asking them to go to their Local Governments to fill some forms, go to NOA office to write down bank details etc. The simple question to ask them is: ‘has Npower system crashed again that made them lose the detailed information of the selected volunteers?’ There is a limit to what they (Focal Persons) know and can do. ‘Why are these people unduly provoking these timid unemployed graduates?’  My sincere advice to the Npower Volunteers that are yet to be paid and those that are paid is to disregard whatever information that takes money out of their pockets to the one that will get them their stipends.Pst Laolu Akande is the only person who has the information on why their December and January stipends are yet to be paid and he is the only one who can give the date it would be paid. National Orientation Agency, SUBEB, states focal persons and Local Governments have no power to push for the payment of their Stipends. They are only wasting your resources by asking you to come and write down your names. I am sure that the majority of States’ Focal Persons are tired of this job as this has made them look incompetent, clueless and unprofessionalAlthough, Npower Scheme has already started failing. 3 months are already gone out of the 24 months the program is designed to lapse for each batch. The scheme has never contributed to the nation’s education, agriculture or health that is designed to improve. In a society ruled by patriotic leaders, Pst Laolu Akande and his team would have been summoned by Law Makers and media to give detailed accounts of what transpired and why these are happening. Let us all storm the social media to wake our leaders to summonPst Laolu Akande and his team to give detail answers to the following questions: 1)     When will all the 200,000 selected Npower Volunteers’ December and January stipends be paid? 2)     What day of the month is the pay day for Npower Volunteers’ stipends?
3)     What happens to the budget approved for this scheme?
4)     When will this scheme properly start and volunteers fully engaged?
5)     When are we to expect feeling the impact of this scheme?
6)     What happens to the remaining 300,000 volunteers that are yet to be selected?
7)     Will this 300,000 serve for 24 months as well or not?
cool     When should the Npower Build and Creative Applicants be expecting the list of selected applicants?
Dear Volunteers, this is the time to look beyond sourcing information from your state focal person and concentrate on seeking and demanding the attention of Pst Laolu Akandeand his team. Kindly disregard any text that asks you to pay to get help and disregard any authority that asks you to pay for Posting Letters or anything. You can forward the details of anyone who asks for money to us via our email: info@iserh.orgor WhatsApp: +2348145643445 or facebookpage:www.facebook.com/npowerassessmenthelpline.Thanks.http://www.iserh.org/news-events/99-npower-unpaid-stipendshttp://www.iserh.org/news-events/99-npower-unpaid-stipends

Crime / Phones Thief Caught Inside Train Today (Pics) by horlak(m): 8:02pm On Oct 02, 2016
It was a dramatic scene today as a kleptomatic guy was caught after stealing more than 20 phones.
The guy who entered the train from Ido terminal in Lagos started the drama when he first introduced himself as a cadet who was travelling to Kaduna for training.
The movie changed when he started arm-begging that he needed money for feeding as he had exhausted all the money on him. Passangers were taken away emotionelly as some were ready to assist him.
When the train got to Osogbo terminal, the guy changed his game by pretending to fall sick he was attended to by good Samaritans. To cut the lonf story short, the guy started moving round after he had 'recovered' from his sickness and started his real mission.
He was first accused by an old woman before we got to Ilorin that her phone was with him, unfortunately no one took the issue serious till the woman got down in Ilorin. The one that broke the horse-back was an Alfa phone which everyone was curious to find.
After, serious search through the coaches, this guy was later found at thr last coach of the train-29th coach. After thorough beating, more than 20 phones were recovered from him at different locations inside the train. At last he was handed over to police at the police oost in Minna. Infact, it's true that 90 days for thief and 1 day for the owner.

Celebrities / I’m Still In Love With Kalu Ikeagwu -alex Okoroji by horlak(m): 1:43pm On Jun 28, 2015
Alex Okoroji, a Nigerian actress, writer and television host is passionate about the Nigerian creative industry like her ex-musician father and COSON boss, Tony Okoroji. Her professional acting career started at the maiden edition of the popular reality TV show, Amstel Malta Box Office(AMBO), in 2005. Since then, Alex has proved to all and sundry that she can hold her own in the entertainment industry. The controversial Nollywood actress, in an interview with ABIOLA ALABA PETERS reveals her past, disappointments and more

Your biggest celebrity crush in the Nigeria entertainment industry.

Hmmm…let me see…Oh mehn! No one readily comes to mind. Geez, have I finished crushing over the men? Hahahaha. Okay, I’ll say Banky W for his art. I think he’s constantly seeking to grow. I like that… and my female crush (strangely) is Omotola Jalade Ekeinde. She’s been very consistent with her brand.

Can you act or pose naked in a movie?

Honestly, I don’t know. Why do I say so? I believe in expression. I believe every actor should be professional and committed to their art. If a good quality script demands an actor to perform a nude scene that adds value to the content or to the overall structure of its art, I don’t see what’s wrong with that. It’s all make-believe. Art is universal…. and we shouldn’t let culture cheapen it.

What I won’t do is strip my clothes for the sake of doing so. Just because a mischievous director requests that. A few years back, I played a sub-lead character in a movie, where I had to take off my top in a scene. It was nicely and tastefully done. No spill out. They were meant to use the silhouette shots. I think eventually the producer was worried about censors’ board and using the original cut.

For the benefit of those reading about you for the first time, who’s Alex Okoroji?

Alex Okoroji is an expressionist. As an actress, writer, podcaster, TV personality, Voice-Over Artiste, Host of the Internet Radio show, The Naked Talk, blog author @ Alexander n Her NaKed Thoughts, self-help mentor and social activist. I use the Creative Arts as a medium of expression to empower minds.

How did acting really begin for you and how many movies have you featured in?

I began professional acting after I took part in the maiden edition of AMBO (Amstel Malta Box Office) reality show in 2005. I started my career on TV. My first movie was Calabar girl (sponsored by the producers of NEXT MOVIE STAR).

I think it was the same for Annie Macaulay at the time. I have played lead or sub lead in about 10 movies or so, but really I cut my teeth in television. Television takes time and requires more commitment over the years.

I have played some of the best characters in soap operas and TV series like Spider, US, Rush, Tinsel, Tales of Eve, GRA Women, Wives & Concubines, Heaven’s Gate and many more. I pretty much consider myself more of a television actor, but I now want to focus on doing more movies though I can’t deny my love for TV.

Being the daughter of a veteran musician and ex-president of PMAN, Chief Tony Okoroji, what impact has it made on your career?

I cannot deny that being the daughter of an artiste has somewhat influenced my decision to live and earn in the arts. Creativity runs in my veins. I inherited the gifts from my father. Still I have tried to separate myself from him. I haven’t used him to directly influence my ambition. I have worked hard to earn it. That being said, I am probably feeding off indirectly from his goodwill. A lot of people respect him. So in turn, they transfer that respect to me because of my antecedents.

What’s your take on pre-marital sex?

In all honesty, I think sex has a way of complicating relationships and confusing people into thinking they are in love. My thoughts against it are more tuned towards the emotional/psychological effect of pre-marital sex and not the religious sentiments.

People have used religion to confuse us and divide us as a people. It seems easy to say to someone for them to wait till they are married because the Bible says so. But how many people truly did so in the Bible or do so now? Everyone wants to see/taste what they are buying. Would you buy a Ferrari without test driving it first?

Would you buy a phone or a television without seeing what you are getting or even the fruits? I guess we are all living by grace. The honest truth is that it is not my place to judge anyone. The choice to either stay celibate until marriage or not, is solely the decision of that person.

Are you in a relationship or married?

I’ve been separated for years. And no, I’m not in any relationship for now.

Have you ever been harassed or abused sexually by the opposite sex?

Harassed? Yes…not physically. I get all those silly online emails and messages on Facebook. Hahahaha. Some ‘so called’ fans even go as far as sending me weird images of their genitals. That’s sexual harassment, my brother. I’ve also had an episode where I had to struggle with a friend. Let’s just say, it didn’t go as he planned.

Ever been heartbroken?

Ha!!! Many times. I have a degree in breaking my own heart. For example, I want a big bowl of ice cream, I can afford to, but I know it’s not healthy for me. I stop myself, tell myself no, whine and nag about it for the rest of the day. Hehehe. Okay, seriously now, yes I have experienced heart break a few times. When people I trust disappoint me, it breaks my heart.

What’s the most scandalous news the media ever wrote about you?

Scandalous? I don’t even know anymore. Many sensational headlines that cheapen a stimulating interview. They have claimed I suffered depression or that I dated people I didn’t even know one on one. Honestly, I don’t keep records anymore. I’m sure there’s more.

If you are to turn back the hands of time, would you want to date Kalu, your ex again?

Yes! The right way this time, with all the other complicating factors out of the picture. He’ll probably be younger, I’ll probably be wiser. It will be a different time and place and our goals will be in sync. I loved him…still do in my own little way.

What are the qualities of your dream man?

A confident man who is not intimidated by a strong woman. An attentive hard worker who is understanding, patient, secure, open minded and will support my growth.

You seem to have a passion for politics. Are you into politics or even planning to go into it?

I get that question a lot. I think we are all political animals just by the way we negotiate and manage our day to day lives. But no, I am not a politician. I do not even have a political ambition. I’m an artiste and I think artistes have a certain social responsibility to the people and their communities.

It is our responsibility to influence leadership as well as good citizenry, which is why I joined the social pressure group #4NL For New Nigeria. We started with our immediate community, pushing our vision with #4NL for Lagos and we have so much more to do in the area of social awareness, community service and empowerment.

You have been romantically linked with music stars – Obiwon, Ruggedman and Olu Maintain.

I don’t even know where those rumours emanated from. Completely baseless.

Can you marry a man who possesses all the qualities in your father? I mean, a man like your father.

Yes! In fact, I want a man like my father, maybe a little varied. But definitely someone who has values like him and is not afraid to stand for what he believes in. Someone who appreciates and understands the arts and what I do because sharing common interest is also important in a relationship /marriage.

Education / Private Schools And Exploitation: My Story!!! by horlak(m): 12:54pm On May 08, 2015
I just resigned from my job NOW!

It started like a joke. We thought she didn’t mean it but Alas! We’re wrong.

I have been working in a private school in Katsina state since August 2011. In fact, we started the school together. The school began like a play in August 2011 with 14 pupils/students from Nursery to JSS 2. Against all odd, we stood by the proprietress nurtured the school from its infant to almost an adult. The school now has population of close to 400 pupils/students.

What goes wrong?

In 2012, I applied for my Master degree programme in Bayero University kano and was given admission. Since the students were not many and the school had three (3) English language teachers, we made an arrangement that my periods should be fixed to when I was not having classes in Kano. Everything went on smoothly without complaint from either the management or the students. Meanwhile, the school did not sponsor my education. I was only allowed to attend lectures whenever I had lectures and my salary was paid in full.

When I finished my course work in April 2013, I was appointed as the Principal of the school. Things went on well not until last week, Thursday 30th April, 2015 when the Vice-Principal resigned that all hell let loose. The Proprietress was so furious that she called an emergency ‘management meeting’ on Monday 4th April, 2015 and informed the ‘management’ that she would not honoured the resignation of the vice-principal simply because he was also going to ABU Zaria once in a while to see his supervisor.
In nutshell, she informed us that all of us that are benefiting from the school by going for further studies- the head-teacher of the primary section and myself should bring our 1st degree certificate in order to enter into bond with the school and she decides when we leave her job or resign with immediate effect.

After all discussions and advises, she stood by what she sad.

Lessons learnt:

1. Private establishment is an exploitation arena,

2. Be wise! Never be carried away with whatever you earn from a private establishment,

3. Never be a fool a enter into a bond with your certificate.

Please, put this to FP for people to learn from it.
Politics / Civil Societies Reject Postponement Of Election by horlak(m): 6:24pm On Feb 07, 2015
The Nigeria Civil Society Situation Room (Situation Room) this afternoon, Saturday, 7th February 2015 met with the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and with all of its 12 National Commissioners in attendance.

At the meeting, INEC Chairman Prof. Attahiru Jega, conveyed that he had received a letter from the security services advising that he postpones the general elections on the grounds that the security agencies were engaged in a renewed battle against insurgency in the North-East that would require their full concentration. In the letter the Military was demanding a rescheduling of elections by at least 6wks in the first instance.

Situation room conveyed to INEC its disappointment with the letter from the security agencies pointing out that this amounted to the Military’s abdication of its constitutional duties to provide security to citizens and to the Commission to enable it conduct elections and appeared contrived to truncate the democratic process in Nigeria.

Situation Room is further worried that the Military’s position also aims to blackmail and arm-twist the Election Management Body away from its constitutional guaranteed function of conducting elections. Situation Room also condemns this advisory by security agents that they cannot guarantee the security of citizens, election officials and materials during the election.

The Situation Room calls for the resignation of military chiefs and security heads including the Police on account of their inability to exercise their constitutional responsibility to secure lives and property at all times including during the elections.

Situation Room also calls on Nigerians to be vigilant and be ready to protect this hard won democracy!
