Shema Rearrested, Booed And Called A Thief By The Crowd At The Court

Former Katsina State Governor Ibrahim Shehu Shema has been re-arrested after the adjournment of a ruling on his motion challenging the jurisdiction of the State High Court regarding charges filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission over alleged money laundering against him.

Immediately after the court sitting, Shema came out of the courtroom with his team of lawyers but a crowd soon formed around him in the court premises booing him and calling him a "thief" in Hausa language.

An attempt to rush back into the courtroom became impossible as EFCC operatives told the government he will be rearrested.

A police team was reinforced to the premises of the court. He later zoomed off his car with the EFCC operatives.

30-year-old photos of young, handsome Buhari at Ilaro

The interesting thing about the pictures is that they were taken just a few weeks shy of 30 years ago, on the 18th of March 1985 — five months before he was removed from office.

Buhari, then a Major General in the Nigerian Army, was on an official visit to the Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro, when the pictures were taken.

Buhari who took power from the democratically elected government of President Shehu Shagari in a military coup d'état, was Head of State from 31 December 1983 to 27 August 1985.

One of those present with Buhari in the Ilaro pictures, General Ibrahim Babangida, led the August 1985 coup that ousted him.

The Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro was established in July 1979 and began receiving students in November, same year, from a temporary site at Ilaro, Ogun State.

In 1983, same year Buhari assumed power, the polytechnic moved to its permanent site, a massive 898.116 hectares land area, along Ilaro/Oja-Odan Road, about three kilometres from Ilaro township.

The Government in Nigeria is the innocent mirror of the nation. The quality of government and its leaders, is simply a reflection of the collective consciousness of all the people in Nigeria. In some instances, leaders who came to power as the champions of anti-corruption have themselves been charged with being involved with levels of corruption even more serious than those of their predecessors. If the collective consciousness in Nigeria is disintegrated and negative, and people are not behaving in accord with Natural Law, then problems and corruption will be an unavoidable phenomenon of government. If, on the other hand, the collective consciousness in Nigeria is positive, integrated, and coherent, then the government will not be influenced by any negativity. If the people in Nigeria wish to be protected from corruption in government, then they must create an integrated collective consciousness. Positivity and harmony should be so strong and dense in national consciousness that negative influences cannot penetrate it.
