Career / Re: Bankers Whats The Way Forward?? by hotboz: 8:27pm On Jul 26, 2015
Just when i'm thinking of leaving my present Federal job as Admin officer for First bank job as a permanent staff. Truth is, I worked in Stanbic before and enjoyed the challenges and appreciated the fact that, your pay would be commensurate with your performance. Unlike Govt job where anything goes. Watch movies from morning till evening; you will still be paid same amount as the guy that works his ass out.

Furthermore, i get really jealous seeing what my banker friends have been able to achieve within their short stint with banks especially peeps in First and Union banks compared to the fact that i've been working for two years now with govt with little or nothing to show for it.

Bottom line is, go for what will suit ur short cum long term goal. Not everybody will be sacked in the bank as not everybody can withstand the bore and unchallenging Govt works.

Entrepreneurship is still the best.

Education / FUOYE Staff Protest VC's Alleged Victimization, Demand Removal. by hotboz: 8:42pm On Dec 18, 2014
The staff of Federal University, Oye Ekiti, Ekiti State, on
Thursday protested alleged victimisation and high
handedness by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Isaac Azuzu.
The aggrieved staff blocked the Ado-Lokoja-Abuja federal
highway as early as 7a.m and made bonfire.
Youths in the town capitalised on it by blocking alternative
routes where they demanded money from commuters before
they could be allowed passage.
The aggrieved staff accused the VC of non-payment of
allowances and non-remittance of tax deducted from their
salaries to the appropriate quarters.
Roads leading to the university and the main gate were
blocked thereby preventing top management staff and
visitors into the school.
The university was among the nine federal universities
established by President Goodluck Jonathan in 2011.
A staff, Mr. Ojo Foluso, lamented that the management of
the school was cheating them, adding that the Economic
and Financial Crimes Commission, and the Independent
Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission
has not responded to their request for probe.
Foluso alleged that VC would return N400 million to the
Federal Ministry of Education as unspent budget for 2014
this December when workers were languishing in suffering.
One of the academic staff, a PhD holder, who spoke with
journalists under condition of anonymity because there had
yet to be a union in the institution alleged that the VC and
the bursar had been denying the staff relocation and hazard
allowances.
He said, “No to anti-transformational agenda. Oye/Ido/Osi
axis is volatile politically in the history of the country, but
we are for President Jonathan. That is why we want him to
wade into this matter without delay.
“Under normal circumstances, each senior staff ought to
receive between N1.2m to N1.5 million as relocation
allowance as introduced by the federal government in 2007.
But we were only paid N252,000 in three installments when
our agitations were becoming so deafening.
“To end all these problems, we call on the university to
implement the recommendations of the Prof Aganga-
committee which stated that tax must no longer be based
on consolidation but be worked based on basic salaries of
all workers and the excess deductions must be refunded to
all workers without delay.
“Again, the National Housing Scheme which the
management has mandated should be made optional while
all allowances being paid in Federal University, Otuoke,
Bayelsa State and in Federal University, Lokoja, Kogi State
and other Federal Universities established in 2011 should
be paid without delay.”
When journalists visited the institution, a security man at
the gate said the VC was not available.
Efforts to reach him on phone was also not successful as
his telephone indicated switch off.

Family / Re: HELP: I Want To Get Married But My Fiancee's Family Is Not Ready! by hotboz: 9:37pm On Jan 06, 2014
TV01:

Why? And how much earlier??

Her father is doing what he feels is best for his daughter. And rightly so. The 2009 birth would have had a big impact, no? Another child could mean completing her education once again takes a back seat. Formalising the relationship now gives you both rights as well as obligations.

The truth is, is that if she becomes your wife, you are then free to take matters into your own hands? I'm working on the assumption that you have WTBs best interest at heart, but that still doesn't guarantee she completes her education?

Personally, if I'm to be objective, I'd advise you stick to the plan. Feel free to make your desires known and give any guarantees you can. But do not force the issue.

What does WTB have to say about this?

Hold body jare...soon come cheesy.

TV

My WTB's opinion is that we do a silent registry wedding with of course the knowledge of her father and do the big traditional wedding after her education completion.

Its always good to view other people's opinion apart from Ur own. I've learnt a lot from Ur comments. u guys are d best. The truth of the matter is that the father's refusal is partly cos of financial inability and I'm not a kind of person that can come out straight to tell him that I can shoulder more of the responsibility ... just like someone rightly said, he solely wants to finance her daughter's education. I'm not against this but I just feel a man should lower his ego to accommodate the effort of others. This is what is lacking.
Family / Re: HELP: I Want To Get Married But My Fiancee's Family Is Not Ready! by hotboz: 2:49pm On Jan 06, 2014
TV01: Continue to be the responsible father. Keep on courting and woo'ing your WTB. And encourage and support her in her academic endeavours. Make the best possible preparations for your home.

Two years will pass in an instant. Before that time sef, her people will inquire to know "how far".

I like a man that stands up. Now hold firm sir!

All the best for a wonderful married life.

Teefee is now amongst the prophets grin!

no mago-mago on either side

grin truly a prophet.. I appreciate ur response bro.. God bless u. Will still appreciate probable way by which I can still convince her father to make it earlier though.
Family / HELP: I Want To Get Married But My Fiancee's Family Is Not Ready! by hotboz: 1:34pm On Jan 06, 2014
I don't want to bore you with my story so I will make it short. My fiancée had a child for me in 2009 when things were not really rosy for me. Through thick and thin we made it to this point when everything start to get better. My child has been staying with his grandmother (fiancée's mum) since then but I decided to bring the family together by telling them to come stay with me.

We did our introduction last year November but during the intro, her father made it known to everybody present that he wont allow his daughter to get married until she finishes her education (she is in 300 of 500 level). At first, I thought he was joking until now. Pls, I need your advice on what I can do.

I don't want us to start living as couple without marriage as it negates my believe. Cos of the societal un-acceptance of such behaviour and
Inability to participate in some spiritual activities.

Mature responses will be appreciated. Mods, Pls help me with front page. God bless u.

Like seriously, the way Stanbic bank is recruiting Direct Sales Agents and making them to resign voluntarily is quite alarming. imagine a contact staff being paid 46 kobo and another collecting 17 naira as salary. I've worked there before. though it was not as bad as the present. God help us in this country.

I erroneously created a thread not long ago accusing big brother organizers of censoring the word GOD. It was later I realized it is only on Africa magic. No matter the reason behind this, God remains the creator of the universe and owner of all breathing species. no amount of manipulation can make Him unpopular.
