Tomorrow may be a reversal again ...oando
And pls who re the pple doing all these magic ? I don't think there is confusion really. If you observe carefully as the bid volume dwindles, they push in more bids. My inference? Some people do not want the price to go below N6. I may be wrong I hope. |

If am to jijo eterna at anytime, it will be with small amt, cos I know d volume. But with stocks DT trade heavy volumes, u can jijo with more money. U must not put ur sale trade once. U can break it down to many trades at diff prices . just study d stock u want to jijo b4 u enter. Observe d trend b4 u enter. If you don't see any trend, don't think of jijoing the stock.
@thorland, u can spread ur money to abt 3 stocks if ur money is huge. And don't jijo with all the money u have in ur portfolio. U can carve out some amt for jijo things. passwelle: Just rechecked the numbers. Your numbers are right, mine were wrong. I quoted 2014 figures. Note that the intra day range is still within the 10.25% aside of the 6.10 which is not within 5% of the opening/reference price of 6.50. I hope the 6.10 figure is not based on your net proceeds? As this will have commissions and charges deducted. If you actually sold at 6.10 on a day Dangsugar closed at 6.82, pls pm me, as I know a lawyer. You can't imagine how much I appreciate your concern over the incidence. Yes, I did sell at 6.10 You will observe that the date is very fresh in my memory. However, for three reasons, I won't press charges 1.They are tasere units 2. I still made a profit althogh it could have been a lot more if I were able to sell at 6.82 3. I am always conscious of investing only what I can afford to lose if it comes to the crunch in this market If ever I need legal help in this market, I'll know who to turn to. |

passwelle: Ma, it probably felt like it. But, that wasnt the case. The intra day range of every stock on the NSE permits a change of +/- 5% at market open to set the reference price. A further maximum of +/- 5% of this reference price is then allowed during continuous trading to give a maximum intraday range of +/- 10.25% of the previous closing price. It is not possible to have a 20% swing. On said day Dangsugar had a low of 5.88 and closed 6.42. Oga pw, pls check your figures again for the 30/1/2015. Officially it closed at 6.82 opened at 6.28 (some say 6.50?).with official low of 6.18 But in fact it went well below 6.18 intraday and that was what made me to sell at 6.10 (note not 6.18!). This scenario was vividly collaborated by one Dr. Awo of SMN on that day. "The Manipulation of prices that Goes on in NSE ehn, no be small thing! I finally became a believer after seeing what transpired in Dangote sugar today... Almost all through trading today, it ranged between 6.18 -6.20. Then about 10 seconds to the end of trading, gbam, over 5 million units traded at 6.82 and, Voila, We have a green day! NSE I hail o!!!" |

Another sure jijo is fcmb. Mamm, you are very funny. The same thing happened to me on Dansugar on the 30th Jan this year, cant forget the day.. In the twinkling of an eye the price went from -10% to +10%. There and then, NSE closed for the day. Shi kenan. |

@saibuhari. I'll like you to remember this quote from Abraham Lincoln
"If I were to try to read, much less answer, all the attacks made on me, this shop might as well be closed for any other business. I do the very best I know how -- the very best I can; and I mean to keep doing so until the end. If the ends brings me out all right, what is said against me won't amount to anything. If the ends brings me out wrong, ten thousand angels swearing I was right would make no difference"
Imagine, the world has not changed. Therefore never stop doing good. |

Reddit: My biggest investment mistakes and lessons learnt
1. Not selling losers (FBNH, Dangote Sugar, NASCON)
Lessons learnt
Once proven that your purchase to be too high, sell and take the one-time loss rather than add to the opportunity loss Irrespective of how good a company/stock is, your purchase price determines your potential returns
2. Selling winners too early/Not buying more (UBCAP, OandO)
Lessons learnt
Buy more of your winners (not losers), if the original story gets better, even if it is at higher prices when you first bought Don't sell in a hurry, infact don't sell a winning stock untill you have a more promising investment lined up
3. Going contrarian on price alone (Transcorp)
Lessons learnt
A company that doesn't meet your key investment checklist criteria is too expensive at any price
I know all these have been said here in this thread repeatedly but I see myself making these mistakes over and over again. I started avoiding these mistakes when I began learning how to separate emotions from investment. The bottom line is this, successful investing is more about being able to curb your inherent biases and impulses rather than brilliant stock picking, which forms one of the principles on which NSEMPA operates. Oga Agba, don't you think we should add "R" to the list? |

megainvest: Two things are happening to Seplat. First Seplat was marked down for dividend last week hence people are pulling out their funds to find money elsewhere. Second, Seplat is suffering from negative sentiments. There is really no good news in the air to keep price moving and in fact some people think they may run into problems with the new government. The market doesn't care about the strong fundamentals of the stock right now. IMHO, SEPLAT is a very good stock for long term. Buying target: N300
Disclosure: I have some SEPLAT in my portfolio but not enough to alarm me. I am planning to load plenty more once the beating slows down. Another good piece from another 'M" |

mercylicious: U never can tell. Stock MKT has no formula. Before I entered stock market (pre - melt down) , I read in one of the stock newspapers (we really had newspapers like that ) that it is better to sell a day or 2 b4 close of register as price are bound to reverse after mark down. The reason being that after mark down, there will be too Much supply and price will go down.
This is not always d case these days. There are some stocks that the price will not reverse after mark down. I think the best way to know this stocks is to consider 2years or more trend. There are some stocks DT will continue to defy all permutation and logic. These are ones controlled by some big boys and we know them. They determine when the price should fall and when it shld go high.
I trade also opened our eyes. The market makers most times, have d final say on the price a stock should trade. You then have to find a way to align with them if they are very active in the stocks you have interest on. Another good piece from an "M" |

Dragonking: does d phone have puffin browser in it and can u use d puffin browser to check bid and offer status? Dragonking: abeg does puffin browser show bid and offer status? Yes, you can use the puffin browser to check the bid and offer status but note the following: (1) Keep an eagle eye on your connection (2) Don't be too fast when you double click the stock you are after. For now for me, puffin is the best, i.e. of course until I hear of another browser. |
