Left muritala into. airlines on Monday, 10th August via emirates airline. Night flight, we took off 8:50pm o. The dot to dubai, 7hrs exactly. Got to dubai at 4am Naija time, 9am dubai time...has a layover of 7 hrs, and connected the next flight at exactly 4, but we didn't take off until 6pm dubai time...it was a loooonnnng flight to jfk new York, 13 hours...emirates was cool to fly with, services on point...the dolls they have as hostesses are cute and extra nice...food was there but a lotta rubbish, I couldn't eat most of them...layover was interesting, albeit long...

Arrived jfk 2 hrs behind schedule, and poe was very easy, as in, no hassles at all.

It was past midnight, and the shuttle I booked to take me to bridgeport had closed for the day, since I arrived 2 hrs late, and they stop work at midnight...had to wait till 6:30 am at the airport...

Lemme skip all that cos there were some drama; I wanted to find my way on my own, but had to go back to the airport and wait till morning for my shuttle to resume work...

Got to my school at bridgeport and requested a transfer, and I was asked to present the admission letter from my new school, and a mail from the school that they are expecting me, which was done. And I got a mail thereafter that my sevis details has been released to my new school. And I left that weekend for alabama, where my new school is. I have registered and started classes, and menh, this place is lovely.

You have a golden opportunity, try and heed the advice. Use this time to know a lot of more about the school . Do you have any pre-reqs to do . This might be a great opportunity to read them up and convince you department to waive them for you on arrival by showing you know a lot more. I do not know what you finance looks like, but is also a good opportunity to try other schools for cheaper tuition. December will soon be here. The only draw-back I see here is this ''rumour'' that students that arrive in spring might be forced to do summer classes. weigh you options very well .

The authorities of the Nigerian Army have confirmed that 50 people lost their lives in two bomb explosions that rocked Damaturu, the Yobe State capital, on Friday.

The Acting Director, Army Public Relations, Col. Sani Usman, said in a statement on Friday that 43 persons died in the first explosion which occurred at 7.40am and seven others in the second explosion.

Several other people were also said to have sustained varying degrees of injuries from the two explosions.

It was learnt a teenage girl and an elderly woman carried out the two attacks at the screening area for the Eid prayers in Damaturu.

The explosions occurred while the screening of intending worshippers for the early morning prayers was taking place at Layin Geange and ‘Phase 1 ‘ in front of the former Yobe State Secretariat, in Damaturu.

Usman said the situation was under control.

One of the residents, Musa Yusuf, who also spoke to our correspondent on the telephone, said, “There is apprehension in Damaturu as I am talking to you. We are celebrating Sallah in fear with these explosions this morning.

“It is hard to ascertain the number of casualties now but the military and policemen are everywhere keeping watch in the town.”

Usman, who urged citizens to be calm and vigilant, said the Acting Chief of Army Staff, Maj. Gen. Tukur Buratai, and the Yobe State Governor, Ibrahim Geidam, sympathised with the families of the victims of the unfortunate incidents.

He said, “The situation is under control. Both Yobe State Governor and the Chief of Army Staff sympathise with and urged the people to stay calm and be security conscious.

“No amount of terrorist act will deter our resolve to stamp out terrorism and insurgency.”

Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osibanjo visit to Calabar the Cross River State capital, yesterday brought to a halt human and vehicular movements for several hours as security operatives shut down the major routes in the capital city. Besides, this development also grounded business activities following the blockade of roads to markets and other business centers. Also, journalists who left their homes to cover the event as early as 8:00am, could not get to the venue even at 11: am as roads were blocked.

This was as some press men who arrived the venue late were denied access to the hall to cover the event by security men at the entrance. Some business operators, who spoke with our reporter lamented that it was a wasted day as they lost several thousands of naira from roads blockade.

They said it was a strange development as they have never witness such scenario were a vice president's visit will terminate activities of the residents. One of them, Asuquo Akanimoh, who owns a shop at the watt market said, "i left my house at eight miles to my shop only to spent six hours on the road, even when i got to my shop the entire place was dull because customers could not have access to the roads due to the markets, as i speak with you i have not sold even a pant which is very bad.

The Ogun state police command have uncovered a kidnappers den at Odubotu compound, located in Okesopen area of Ijebu-Igbo in Ogun state.

According to Vanguard, the kidnappers, 46 year old Mukaila Dauda who served as a herbalist in the syndicate, Ahmed Adebanjo, Tunde Akilo, a popular commercial motorcyclist, Sunkanmi Dacosta and Lateef Agboola were arrested after a failed attempt to kidnapped a herb seller known as Iyaagbo at Ijebu-Ode /Ikorodu Road, Lagos State.


The kidnappers had trailed her from her Odogbolu residence in Ogun State to Itoikin where her shop was. They arrived at her shop disguising as prospective buyers.

Sensing all was not well, the woman told the strangers that she doesn't have what they requested for but as she made to leave the shop, she was bundled into the kidnappers car and driven away with gunshots fired to scare away intruders. Luck however ran out on them after the back two tyres of the vihicle they were riding in punctured.

Explaining how they were arrested, Ahmed Adesanya, a commercial motorcyclist, from Omu Eleni town said;
“When I got to the place, I met one Mama Alagbo, our Okada unit chairman, Ahmed (Soldier), Yemi Agboola and Tunde Akilo inside the car. But four of them, including Mama Alagbo, took off on my motorcycle, while Yemi Agboola, Tunde Akilo and I drove in the car. But on reaching Imodi town, we met some policemen at a checkpoint, who insisted on checking the vehicle. Agboola and myself escaped into the bush but we did not see TundeAkilo. A week later, he (Akilo ) led policemen to my house and I was arrested. I used my Okada to take some passengers to the herbalist’s house. My targets are usually passengers who do not know where they are going”.he said
On his part, another member of the syndicate, Tunde Akilo, confessed to being a member of the Eiye Confraternity and also admitted to being involved in armed robbery operations within the Ijebu axis.
“I have only taken part in two kidnap operations. One was the abduction of Chief Alakoso, after which I was given N250, 000. The second operation was that of Mama Alagbo which unfortunately was unsuccessful. One Yemi Agboola, a relative to the woman, brought the deal to us . He said her relatives could provide N1 million if kidnapped. If I had known, I would have remained in the robbery gang instead of joining this syndicate”, he said
For 38-year-old Dascosta who was also arrested, he confessed to being a member of a robbery gang, claiming he was introduced into kidnapping by the herbalist, Dauda, when he went to him for spiritual protection. Like his colleague, Akilo, he expressed regret for joining the kidnap syndicate, saying he had only earned N310,000 since he joined.

On his part, Mukaila, the herbalist said he was responsible for hiding the kidnapped victims until a ransom is paid for their release
"I am a herbalist. I have been into the profession for 25 years. I specialise in curing strokes and other ailments which are beyond medical treatment. At a point, business was no longer moving and feeding my two wives and six children became burdensome. It was at this point that I met Tunde Akilo, a commercial motorcyclist, and Sunkanmi Dacosta, who introduced me to kidnapping. My role is to keep victims in my house, pending when their families would pay ransom. I never went out with them but I gave them names of prominent persons in Ijebu Igbo. Some of these people have patronized me. The first person that was brought to my house was one Chief Alakoso. He was brought in March, blindfolded. I got N300,000 after ransom was paid four days later, for keeping him in my place. This amount was aside my regular share from the loot because that was the bargain. Also, two Onipomo in Ijebu Igbo were kept in my place. I also gave their contacts to my members. I usually prepared charms to fortify members before they go for any job. This is to enable them get their catch without trouble. I also prepared charms that will make victims lose their senses. A day before they would leave, I would lit fire and say some incantations into it. The fire will be on until they arrived. But if it goes off in the process, that means they have entered into trouble” he said
All five of them will soon be charged to court.
