... Ur loyal follower is here.. Greetings... I tried porting Cwm for tecno y3... I tried using mtktools... But it has a secure boot.. So am getting no boot no kernel bla bla.. So i unpacked but stock recovery and Cwm recovery copied the necessary tinz and kernel.. But the ish i got is the mounts point.. Wen iIflashed d ported cwn was unable to mount... SD card system cache data partition...

Downloads had been opened quite some time ago. no need to request for download permission anymore

We had the same issue after we ported TWRP and root to Tecno C8. All our Nigerian testers developed cold feet at the last minute and pulled out. Only our Kenyan and South African testers were courageous enough to test the Mod...and it worked flawlessly

Yes. We got a success with our Kenyan tester.
One of the Nigerian testers pulled out at the last minute. We're still working with the other.
We require two successful tests before it can be released

But you can't do a firmware upgrade without them.

A 'firmware upgrade' is just a flashing algorithm and nothing more.
take for example, you have a full 4.2 ROM and you flash it to your 4.2 phone using the 'firmware upgrade' option. your phone wont miraculously jump to 4.4 would it? Firmware upgrade is just an instruction to wipe all partitions (using the scatter file as a map) and flash to them while Download is an instruction to wipe and flash to only selected partitions.
Userdata is your personal data like contacts, app data, SMS, call logs etc and cache is just cached resources. their content is irrelevant in flashing, only the partitions are important. Thats why you can wipe data and cache and the phone will still work fine. but try that with system, boot or recovery and you'll know something is missing.

Bro. Stock ROM from Infinix always come with userdata and cache.. But if u have those files missing, don't do a firmware upgrade.

Userdata and cache are very optional as you know.
The phone will work perfectly with or without flashing them.
