Christopher's blood splashed on the white carpet staining it like a scarlet lipstick on a bride's wedding veil as he landed on the floor with a thud. He flinched, it felt as if a hot knife had just been plunged into his hip, boring through the skin, cutting the muscles and resting on his hip bone.
“Goddanmit!” He cursed nobody in particular. Rimi ran towards him and the group carried him up to a couch as he cried out in pain. He watched as Zainab knelt beside him while Rimi waltzed upstairs. Tonia and Uche were in their own world, talking in hushed tones.
His gaze was fixed on the cobwebs as they hung loosely on the corners of the ceiling like Dumbledoor's long beards unattended. They were on the windows too, plumes of dust erupting from every surface as the midnight air breezed in through the open window giving the house a musty smell. He coughed, startling Zainab.
“Christopher?” Zainab was shaking him, “Please stay with me, we just need to stop the bleeding.” She assured him avoiding his eyes.
“Can somebody please get me water, a towel and a basin?” She asked not looking up.
“In this house? Hell no!” Tonia mocked behind them, Chris grunted.
Tonia had her back on them, connecting the television which was not giving way, Uche was nowhere to be seen. Christopher despised her even more. She had no business being there, he could have just shot them when the opportunity knocked on his door. But deep inside he knew he had no heart for that, his job was to work on the technical side of things, not the other way round.
Dino send him there to kill him, he flinched when he realized he'd been played for a fool, as the pain penetrated his heart, piercing it like king Arthur's sword. He was shaking as if he has high fever, running his trembling hand over his thigh he almost threw up at the thought of what he had touched. It felt wet, soft and warm. He jerked up to look at it, Zainab had just cut his pants, fighting to stop the blood.
“Let me see.” He begged her, she moved a bit, it looked like a navel on an orange. It burned his bones, his skin, his tissues, his whole body was on fire.
“We need to get the bullets out Christopher.” Zainab's eyes were filled with tears, he fought the urge to let the sting of tears welling on his eyes to spring down his cheeks. He swallowed hard, his adam's apple sticking out.
“No,” his voice was in whispers. “I need you to stop.” His blood stained hand caressing her lovely face. “Just get me something to cover myself...” He paused, “I am cold.” He lied, the wound was a reminder of how foolish he had been. It would be a reminder for the rest of his life, he couldn't bear it.
Zainab trudged away from him to a nearby cupboard where he had kept some blankets, she took out one blue fleece and tucked it around him, avoiding the wound.
“Thank you.” He acknowledged, forcing a sad smile.
“Its ok.” She emphasized and walked away, he didn't ask where she was headed, he knew; To look for Rimi. 4 Likes |

Topgainer: In the 1980s and early 1990s, a man called Micheal Jackson was so idolized that ladies and female fans will be crying and wailing at his glory. They will kiss the sand he stepped on. He was a prince, dined with world leaders, guests at white house a number of times. Like Pastor Chris, his natural complexion was detestable to him, he bleached again and again, ended up with Plastic Surgery. Do you know what? Fans and popular demand destroyed that Icon Let me simply tell you that if Pastor Chris gambles with adulterated Christianity eventually destroys him, Fans like you are definitely the killing tools in the devils hands for that purpose Will you shut the hell up and focus on your life? When will people stop meddling? If you don't like him fine but don't ever compare him to Michael Jackson! |

Do you have to say all this trash on his birthday anniversary? Really? Smh
Pharesees on nairaland, spewing rubbish and blaspheming against the Holy Spirit since the days of Elijah.

repogirl: Congrats on hitting FP, I guess that solidifies your stance as a super writer on NL. Peju
your writing has promise, if you can only develop your characters better and not rely so heavily on conversation.
Also, it seems the story is moving at an unrealistic pace and that's making it quite unbelievable, take time out to map out a nice believable plot and work a bit more on the setting.
I see your characters aren't African, well that's okay, but its better to write about what you're familiar with. If you're gonna make your characters from another race, do not describe just the eyes, lets have a full description so we can envision them in our minds eye.
Also, take out the brackets, not nice.
Finally, find your voice, make the story your own, make it original.
Alright you asked for candid comments and you got mine.
Good job so far, an interesting story, I'm a sucker for romance stories anyway so keep up the good work and also work on making improvements. Yes o Ok, as Repogirl said, you've got potential to run for the first lady of romance in this section BUT..... 1. Hannah sounds like she doesn't belong anywhere in the world, only in your head. You surely didn't have a plot did you? See when writing something like this, you pen down your ideas down first. Do your first draft, web them all together, etc. You ought to start with Hannah, who's she, where does she come from? What does she want to archive? Her goals at the moment? Put everything in detail. Use five senses to keep us glued to the story. When I listen to KingzPen's strories, nobody has to tell me anything, there are emotions involved already in his voice. When I read Larry's prose, I can feel, I can smell, I can taste, I can see, and hear what the characters are doing, going through. Its easy for me to step into a characters shoes, or just shout @ that character for being stupid when I am reading Repo's romance. Just to mention few people here, try to familiarize yourself with your characters. If your doing an international based thing, research, google, is your best friend. Harry Potter never existed but boy, J.K Rowlings wrote it so detailed and beautiful like I was there. Because when I read a fantasy, especially romance, I always take my passport with, ready to travel with the characters all the way. you've got your fan base, which will work in favor for you in future, take note of this, your going places. 1 Like |

Centrifude: South Africa still holding Nigeria’s seized $15 million arms money. Contrary to widespread reports in the Nigeria media (PREMIUM TIMES not included) the South African government has not returned the $15 million seized from arms dealers purportedly buying arms for the Nigerian military. PREMIUM TIMES can authoritatively report that the money remains frozen in South Africa and has not been returned to the Nigerian government. In October, several media articles quoting the South African High Commissioner to Nigeria, Lulu Mnguni, reported that the money seized in connection with two dubious arms deal had been released to the Nigerian government. However, Mr. Mnguni has told PREMIUM TIMES that the reports are false. Apart from the High Commissioner, the spokesperson of the South African National Prosecuting Authority, NPA, Nathi Mncube, and a South African source that is knowledgeable about the matter but requested not to be named, told PREMIUM TIMES in separate correspondences that the money was yet to be released to the Nigeria government. Rather than return the money, there is possibility that the money may never be returned to the Nigerian government again. Responding to PREMIUM TIMES enquiry about the extent of the investigation into the seized arms money, Mr. Mncube, who declined to give specific information because the NPA does not respond to matters under investigation, however, said the money may be forfeited to the South African government. “In terms of our law, proceeds of crime are forfeited to the state,” he said. On his part, Mr. Mnguni vehemently denied the reports credited to him that the matter has been resolved diplomatically and the money returned to the Nigerian government. He said it was not procedural for the South African government to return frozen money in the manner suggested in the reports quoting him. “We don’t refund money that way,” he said during a telephone conversation. “I said the matter would be resolved within the legal and legitimate means. That was what I said. I did not say the money has been refunded. And I did not follow up since then on whether the money has been refunded or not. It has to be done through the legal and legitimate means.” PREMIUM TIMES investigation also revealed that instead of providing document that validated its claim that the deals were legal, the Nigerian government has been vigorously pursuing a diplomatic resolution of the matter. Hard as it is trying, it appears the Nigerian government is merely chasing the wind, as the matter is no longer in the hands of diplomats and politicians. Unfazed by subtle threat of the National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki, to come hard of South African business interests such as MTN and DSTV in Nigeria, NPA obtained court orders freezing the money. Now, Nigeria has to go through the full hog of court processes to secure its release – something the government, which claimed ownership of the money, appears incapable of doing following the backdoor manner the deals were reached. “The money was frozen by two court orders and the court requires the documentations before the money is released,” Mr. Mncube said. “The money is still here and is not going anywhere. We would not release it if we don’t have a surety where the money is going. It is a court process.” http://nigeriana.org/blog/105206.html
