Despite lasting only 18 minutes in his first game for Leicester City, Kelechi Iheanacho has earned the praise of coach Craig Shakespeare for the role he played in their comeback 2-1 win over Borrusia Monchenglabach in their last pre season game.


Iheanacho was substituted minutes after he was introduced due to a knock, which the manager said isn’t serious, but despite not spending much time on the pitch he ‎made his mark by setting up Jamie Vardy for the winner.


The coach praised the 20 year old who made his switch from Manchester City to Leicester City just 24 hours before the game against Borrusia Monchenglabach.


Shakespeare, speaking at full-time, told LCFC TV: “He’s fine in there. He’s getting a bit of a ribbing from the players in terms of him coming off.

“You can see the impact he’s had. We’re just really making sure that was more of a precaution. He hasn’t trained very often, he hasn’t been able to because of circumstance.


“The more minutes he can get on the pitch, the more liable he will be to last 90 minutes.”

Ndidi also had a great game, got quite a number of accolades for his performance last night. He's turning out to be an excellent midfielder.

Hopefully, he and Kelechi will build an understanding playing together this season....I'm glad a good number of our players will be actively involved in games this season and we won't have to worry about match fitness

I agree on Ndidi playing offensively and I am also not comfortable with it. I feel he is playing to instructions and I have seen him sit in a tidy fashion at the back also. However, Ndidi is less a risk in shielding the defence than Onazi who on lots of occasions leave us exposed at the back.

There is big case for Mikel Agu.

It is a case of us having a balanced lethal team. If Osimhen is not ready then I say we maintain the 4-2-3-1 until then. Not yet sold on Kayode because I have not watched him closely to assign such responsibility.

I am at the moment okay with Mikel, Ndidi partnership in midfield. I think we can get creativity and Discipline with this pair. With Osimhen up top, Nacho's free role can link the midfield to the point man.

A lot depends on Osimhen hitting it fast.
