Plateau United FC trio, Bernard Ovoke, Issah N. Ndala Jr, and Ibrahim Babawo are on the verge of joining the newly-promoted Armenia Premier League club Saven FC.


The trio jet out of the country on Saturday to finalize their transfer to the club country ahead of the 2021-2022 campaign.

Playing Mexico's first team to prepare for CHAN is like reading a biology text book to prepare for a mathematics exam. There was absolutely no rational reason to play home based in this fixture. Teams in Africa would've been far cheaper to play and closer to what we should expect to face at CHAN. It's either some NFF big wig is desperate to sell players or the minister wants to score cheap political points by portraying his government as "patriotic". Big ups to Rohr who foresaw evil and hid himself......we for don finish am by now.

I still want more international matches for the local guys. How can a team participate in 2 different tournaments (CHAN & WAFU) but yet no get togethers or friendly matches. The whole team had 7 caps put together and that should never happen when there is a local team available. U can only get international experience by playing international matches. I believe this was what the sports minister spoke about so I am keeping faith.

If the nff really want experience for them...they should camp them in abuja for weeks and let them play some local club sides to build synergy and thereafter play countries like benin rep,togo,niger,chad for friendly that will help them better get in shape for wafu and chan preparation

A coach inherit a team that failed to qualify for back to back Anc, Qualifies and reaches 3rd on his 1st try while improving his team ranking by 20 position in that period and selecting genuine young players for the future. Instead of appreciating him, they're denigrating him. You want him to be arrogant and boastful by promising things he cannot guarantee. Nigerians must learn humility by force. Under 20 set up that he got based on connections. I can bet my last coin that he will flop again

So unfortunate that the under 20 team is already program to fail. The last one he managed was wasted nothing was achieved from it not even one of the players can be said to have progressed into the super eagles and same thing will happen this time around

The experience they need was to play africa teams like Togo,Benin,Guinea etc even playing club sides like Niger Tornados, Wikki Terrorists of Bauchi or Sunshine Stars of Akure would have been better since they were been prepared for CHAN tourney

Rohr should have been allowed to use this friendly bond the Team A players and also get some fresh call ups for Oliseh, Lukman, Ejaria etc just to do team bonding.

Rohr opened up earlier u dont play mexico with this bunch of average players if it is chan preparation why didnt them play africa teams for friendly or play some club sides in africa why the jamboree travel to the US. The flawed ideology that there are always going to be players in the local league that are good enough to be competitive in international football has been with us right from when I started watching football.

Frustratingly to anyone with an ounce of common sense, successive Sports Ministers, NFF boards and sections of the fans fail to realise the obvious fact that all football teams in the Nigerian leagues are merely basement level feeder teams to the global football market. They are near if not right at the bottom of the economic food chain in the global football ecosystem.

This means that all the participants (players, coaches, backroom staff, referees etc) are only involved in the local league's in the hope that a better opportunity will arise the 'next day' and they immediately will leave without looking back. That better opportunity may be in the form of a transfer to leagues in Vietnam, Benin Republic, Lithuania etc. No half decent player remains in the local league for more than 2 seasons.

And these are the same players some people (NFF etc) were convinced just needed to be grouped together and prepared by a coach from the same league for a couple of weeks and cladding them with our beautiful national colours would magically transform them to international stars?

The thought it self is an embarrassment. Following through with it is only excused of treason because of the comedy value that resulted.

I tell you, I am so sure some of NPFL teams chairmen were already counting their possible gains with their Japanese calculators from this players signings abroad

The match was done to boost Mexico's confidence and brand before the Gold Cup. Mexico knows that they have a large gathering in Los Angeles and fixtures like these only help to draw more spectators and marketing revenue. Amaju and Co. used this as a pretense to "give the home boys a chance" but it was all BS and you could see the disappointment on Rohr's face. He knew these guys had no business being on that plane.
