Don't mind him
It was possible for us to win Algeria the last time which we almost did couple with the fact it was players like Chuks,Kalu, Simon, Onyekuru,Ekong,Leon, Aina, awaziemetc first AFCON unlike now with the growth and experience one pessimistic man somewhere is writing us off

The team you might consider as the best team before the tournament can turn out not to be the best team when the tournament proper starts. Football is not mathematics.

Talking about the best team always winning, this doesn't happen all the team.
No one expects south Africa to beat Egypt' the last time

I am sure one of this francophone countries might just upset Algeria route to the finals

Apart from Musa, Leon, hardly anyone else organizes the team. The rest are either mummy's boys or too quiet. You can't just begin to fill a team with all manner of strange players and expect to win AFCON. We have enough talent to win the cup already. What we need more now is team cohesion and discipline.
You made some good points
If Musa is injured he can still be in the team... but may not play and instead of wasting his alot someone else can come in...simple

Watching highlights of 2013 Afcon Burkina Faso vs. Ghana, the officiating was so poor, and it appears the referee wanted Ghana to win by all means. I hope this 2021 cup officiating will be void of controversies

For booker's that really understand the AFCON and have followed the tournament decade after decade, you cannot rate teams to Win the AFCON based only on FIFA ranking and current form. There are some typical AFCON teams, that no matter the strength of the team they present they are always a force to be reckoned with when it comes to the AFCON. Such teams are Egypt, Cameroon and Nigeria. Little wonder that in the last 30 years they have won the AFCON the most.

And there are some teams that would always be rated high based on FIFA ranking and current form but would end up breaking the hearts of their fans: Senegal, Ghana, Morocco, Ivory coast. Algeria belonged to this group until 2019.

I know a lot of people would not fancy a team like Cameroon but I am tipping them as one of the tip favorites to win it. I also rate Nigeria ahead of Senegal and Ivory coast to win this tournament.
You're right
Cameroon have a good AFCON history even when they're overlooked they always prove wonders

Dr. Terry is fully part of the coaching team. So he will not just serve as a back room staff.

I believe his work will hinge on giving us a modern approach to the way we will handle it.

I believe he will provide support in detailed analysis of opposing players. Spot their weaknesses through analysis and also propose alternative approaches to counter them.

There is a lot of tactical background studies that takes place in football today.

Below (although highly advanced) is from Bielsa's press conference after his staff got caught spying on Lampard's training session.

Under the screen are documents, each one for a player. He highlighted the amount of work put in to analyze teams.

So Dr. Terry will likely bring a bit of this kind of approach to the team.
You expect too much from this guys

He had only went to one Afton, and World Cup, correct me if am wrong,

all same, I blame Eohr for still insisting on him, If Rohr would had reached decision, and let him be, we won't be here talking about him,

it is well,
Was he forced? He should have simply declined like V.Moses
Who does not know Rohr as a confused and fearful man? Not willing to take risks

Read V. Moses response it shows more of an unselfish player insisting that upcoming young folks should be given the chance and more so we have more upcoming CFs than anywhere else on the pitch. Like Safagirl said...Ighalo was simply selfish and probably wanted use the super eagles features push for a move to western Europe

And that is how he will continue to receive insults and threats, since he decided he will not stay one place.

His name is not Lionel Messi, he cannot decide to retire and unretire anyhow, especially when there are others who would have appreciated this opportunity and used it so much more.

Una dey pity Ighalo wey don go all the tournaments finish, what of the players behind him that could have done so much more with this opportunity but did not get it?

This is akin to all those old men in civil service that refuse to retire, meanwhile younger people are waiting for jobs. We are already carrying Musa, what was the need for Ighalo? They should have tossed a coin on which one of them would go for this tournament.

That's a damning verdict on Eguavoen. It means he hasn't been doing his job. As TD he should keep a dossier on all Nigerian players in Europe top leagues at least.
I laugh when people praise Eguavoen's tactical acumen. This guy was a resounding failure the last time he was with the super Eagles. He was hounded out from the national team with all kinds of bad press.

The man keeps talking about luck everytime. That tells he has an already made excuse should he fail. I have never heard a top manager talking about needing luck in interviews, klopp? Tuchel? Flick? Pep? The man is clueless.

We now have round of 16 in the nation's cup then quarter finals, no way he navigates through and get to the semi finals. Eguavoen doesn't have the capacity, who wan bet?
You've said it all

Oga humility, just give Eguavoen little respect. He is the coach and has every right to decide who he wants to work with.....how I wish you can stop this foreign born of a thing, they are all Nigerian for God sake.

Sir,only a dropped Akpoguma would have made it if Rohr is still in charge.....pls what do you want Eguavoen to do after injury to Shehu he called Ebuehi,so what a fuss about this foreign born.....I want Dessers too but not a big deal if Eguavoen doesn't rate him cos Rohr too didn't rate him.....let him continue doing his best, post Afcon still on the way.

Emotionally am not happy he is not in the team, not cos of football reasoning but being a Belgian and preferred to play for Nigeria.

Good Pinnick went for a foreign coach but I want to tell you that Peseiro is not better than Austin Eguavoen,Samson Siasia,Finidi George and Emma Amuneke, apart from being white, damn sorry to sound like a racist.
Okay Egbon noted sir

I agree with Peseiro is not better than our local coaches but they're better fair and transparent in their call ups than many of our local coaches thats where they get it right

Don't count your chicken before they are hatched. Our friendly brother Nation Ghana should not be dismissed so easily.

By all means support your nation but it's not wisdom to denigrate another nation with emotive negative bias not objectivity.

Look at Ghana midfielder, all playing at high levels.

Ayew Andre ( no introduction needed)
Thomas Partey - Arsenal
Iddrisu Baba - Mallorca
Mubarak Wakaso (Shenzhen)
Mohammed Kudus - Ajax
Kamaldeen Sulemana - Rennes

These are Ghana's midfielders, l haven't put any one playing in leagues below the top 7 in Europe, apart from Wakaso who left La Liga, for Chinese ££$$.

Now let's look at our midfielders, would you say we have players in our midfielde that are COMPREHENSIVELY better than Ghana, l would not even suggesi it.

A friend should always underestimate your virtues and an enemy overestimate your faults“ — Mario Puzo

Onyeka - Brentford
Aribo - Rangers
Ndidi - Leicester
Ejuke - CSKA
Nwakali - SD Huesca - Segunda Division
Alex Iwobi - Everton.

If we adopt this your condescending dismissive attitude we will beaten by Sudan.

It is the fault of both coaches.

Rohr failed by omitting Dessers from the initial list. Eguavoen came in and was not interested in the player. If Eguavoen was interested in the guy he would have put him in once news came out that Osimhen would miss out.

You should have asked nah

I said he ommitted the foreign born players not Dessers players like Akpos, Bassey,Ebuehi when the first list was released remember me, subzero etal raised the issue then

And now from the rumour on willingness of pinnick to pay the fine to have Dessers in the team.... your coach says he does not and have never watch Dessers play

Me that is not a member of the coaching crew I know Dessers and I have watched him play here you have a Technical Director who have not watch him play...it means the reason for leaving out some of thjs players in the initial list is because he does not even know or have watched them play. That shows how knowledgeable he is

Shekina hope you understand na

This man deliberately omitted the foreign born players when he compiled the initial list

I understand you. But you should be referencing Jorginho not Kovacic. Lol

Anyways, trust me when I say I watched Nwakali for every single minute from August up until December and finally on January 2 before he joined the SE camp.

His workrate has improved most especially in his most recent games. His recovery in his last game was on the moderately high side. He made 6 recoveries. Committed 4 fouls. Lad can get dirty if he has to. On same day, Onyeka committed 2 fouls for Brentford and made 3 recoveries.
These are their last games and sometimes you guys here say, you are as good as your last game.

So I understand your fears but your fears persist only because you haven't watched the lad as much as I have in recent times.

It is well, Royal one. We move. wink

I honestly will not be shocked if Sadiq claims the 9 role. His pressing, and being able to drift to midfield and both wings will give him an edge over Awo.

I think that was why Eguavoen desperately wanted Osimhen. It is going to be a case of utilizing long balls.
Yeah Sadiq may claim the No. 9 role but how about his speed and runs huh

Tell all these to Jorginho who is also kinda Languid in some phases of the game and didn't track Tielemans.

One thing you must understand is that DLPs/Central Midfiled conductors are not expected to be workhorses. They contribute Decent Defensive shifts and focus primarily on taking up positions that set them up to receive the ball and dictate the flow.

So expecting Nwakali or a Jorginho or a Modric to be running up and down almost every moment to show workrate is not so, My dear Doom3. Not every MF is a Kante or an Onyeka. Lol
Abeg forget Jorginho

We need a player like Kovacic. Jorginho is like a low budget mikel to me in that Chelsea Team when it comes to mastering that midfield

Well, let's see how it goes. I'm not really sold on Awoniyi, maybe I haven't really observed him closely, but he tends to miss more than he scores and that could harm the team in a match where chances are scarce.
Awoniyi problem is him not been aggressive and hungry enough

There is something Oshimen and Ighalo brings when they play...They're always hungry and aggressive that alone is something expected of a striker...

Awoniyi is like the morientes kind of striker. A gentleman kind of striker.... not aggressive and that only will make me pick even Dessers ahead of him... I don't know much about Sadiq in that aspect

Comparing kwa....

I hope you know an elite CM balling for these top sides should be Commanding numbers that align with that elite status but alas, it is not all so. I was simply explaining why it is that way. Mfs of such ilk with little or no direct statistical influence on G+A but deliver the most Masterclass in the middle game that births such in the forwards ahead of him.

Man, TheGoodJoe was right. Humility totally missed the point. Heeeiiii....
The truth bro... what I have against Nwakali is his defensive ethics same issues I have with Eze of Crystal Palace

You know his work rate when his team is chasing the ball off the opponent legs or when his team is off the ball is poor . Offensively I know the deadly passes and others Nwakali offers.

If Dude has improved on that trust me I will blow his trumpet. I just fear his pairing with Ndidi might over work Ndidi and even expose us when we get to play a ball possessive and dominating team even not sold on Aribo playing the CM role he is not defensive enough thats why you see me advocate for Onyeka Ndidi start.... with Onyeka as a CM and Ndidi as DM but anyway lets see the surprises that await us

Watched the way Kovacic plays for Chelsea recently trust me will be super excited we have a player that can pull such stint in Cameroon

cc: TheSuperNerd did I not tell you?

It is not a comparison in what they bring but highlighting the role of a deep lying playmaker.

A deep lying playmaker has a role not to have goals or assists but dictate the tempo of the team.

It is about making small intelligent decisions that compounds into the team's overall performance.

Whether you are Pirlo, Xavi, Verrati, Paul Scholes, Obinna Nwobodo (in his early years), or Kelechi Nwakali is not the discussion.

The discussion is what is expected of the person playing the role. Dictation, conduction, exploitation, and some defensive shifts.
I get you... your explanation is more lucid and vivid now

Let's hope he delivers
