Nigeria Records N3.5trn Investment Announcements In Q1 2021 BY KINGSLEY ALU, Abuja
The Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission (NIPC) has disclosed that N3.5trillion ($8.41bn) was tracked as investment announcements for Q1 2021, which is about 75 per cent more than the value in the corresponding period in 2020 when it recorded $4.81 billion.
Executive secretary, Ms Yewande Sadiku dropped this hint yesterday during an interactive session with the media highlighting the first quarter achievement of the Commission in Abuja.
Sadiku explained that the latest figure reflects a gradual return of investors’ confidence on the nation’s economy after the COVID-19 induced decline in the previous year.
She said the NIPC tracked a total of 15 projects across eight states in the period under review.
samndaads Giving a breakdown, Sadiku revealed that Bayelsa State received the largest share of the announcements with $3.6 billion in mining and quarrying, followed by Delta State which recorded $2.94 billion worth of announcements in seaport construction and power transmission line.
Others include; Akwa Ibom State which had $1.4 billion announced in mining and quarrying, and Lagos State with announcements totalling $0.26 billion in finance, insurance, and manufacturing.
She also explained that the report showed that the leading four destinations this quarter accounted for 97 per cent of the total investments announced as against 56 per cent in the corresponding period last year.
According to her, manufacturing and construction were the top sectors with record 60 per cent, and 34 per cent respectively.
Sadiku noted that domestic investors were the most active during the period accounting for 35 per cent of the announcements, followed by announcements from Morocco (17 per cent), the United Kingdom (3 per cent) and the USA (1 per cent ).
“We’ve been honest that the gap between announcements and actual investment demonstrate potential, we’ve also said that a more proactive approach to investors support across federal and state level is required to convert more announcements to actual investments.
”If we convert 10 per cent or 20 per cent of investment announcements it will make a material change but you cannot get to the point of conversion if you don’t know what you are looking for,” she added.
I was scrolling down my Facebook when I came across a post by one of my friends, this young man named Eisha Thompson took time to explain everything that, just exactly the crisis Akwa Ibom is facing. I saw it as being captivating and decided to bring it to nairaland to share with everybody
Life remains a mystery and not everything is easy to comprehend.
If it was to be written that our dear state will one day become hideouts for hoodlums and criminals to perpetrate crimes uninterruptedly, if not all citizens, at least, the patriots would have doubted completely.
When did Akwa Ibom turn to a lawless state, when did Akwa Ibom state turn to a choas and lack of order?
What suddenly angered the bad influenced youth to gang up and turn the once peaceful state to a state of unknown fright were citizens live their daily life in fear?, Fear of the unknown?
Akwa Ibom state citizens, majority live from hand to mouth, no daily savings, talkless of life savings. The rich are clearly and vividly distinguished from the poor.
The above is happening and yet, we are facing crisis, economic and financial crisis.
Were is the government, were is the government for the people, all the manifestos tendered during election campaigns, were are the industries that can provide ample job opportunities to the masse's, were is the love, meekness and kindness that the government is supposed to show for it's citizens?
Just a day ago, we lost a blood, a youthful blood, the said leader's of tomorrow, the said leader's are being massacred on a daily. Injustice is prevailing.
The lady in question was looking for a job, a job to put body and soul together, not minding the location, not minding the pay, not minding her security, she went all alone to face her Doom.
She made a tweet, the tweet was reposted, politicians didn't hear her cries, nobody answered her until she fell a victim, a victim to one rascal that deserves castration.
Now, the same politicians are disguising acts of kindness, showing hypocritical sympathy, and typing RIP.
The above Will continue to prevail.
If the government had provided job opportunities, what would have prompted a young lady to go into job hunting online and fall for devil's in sheep clothing's?
It's high time we stood up, it's high time we knew that it's time.
Not criticizing, I'm just being critical. The Akwa Ibom state governor came up with a philosophy, "DAKAADA", the young lady ama dakadaa to look for something, now she's Dead.
Our dear governor, why not also "DAKAADA" for this lady?? Let justice prevail.
Apart from the lady in question, many atrocities are going on in the state, places of essence are being burnt down and destroyed, innocent lives are lost on a daily.
Akwa Ibom state is not peaceful again, we're in crisis we've not feel in a long long while, we're feeling the heats now.
Please come to our aid, help your people, return our state to it's last calmness.
The rate of insecurity is alarming, the rate of crime is sky rocketing, the rate of deaths and murder is getting funnier, the rate of locality inflation is too much for poor Akwa Ibomites.
#Justice_for_Umoren #End_insecurity #Our_state of calmness_must_return
Kindly share and repost till it reaches the Big dogs in the society
Help the masses
Nairalnders that's his post above, meanwhile you can click on this original post facebook link to share the post and make it go viral like he said to reach the government.
Question: 1. Are you from Akwa Ibom? 2. Do you know insecurity is nationwide not only in Akwa Ibom? 3. Why will anybody go to a man house in the bush to search for exxonmobil job? 4. You sound abit partisan to me, which political party do you belong ? 5. What exactly is the message you are sending self? 6. Do you think any state governor will want is state to be unsafe? 7. Do you know that lack of job , should not make one take unnecessary risk? 8. Do you know you are not only criticizing the state (not state government) but you are also demarketing my state to potential investors ?
Finally there is no country or state that government provide 100% jobs opportunities to all it citizen .. You need private sector to do that , and that will only come if me and you think outside the box. Try and also become an employer of labour yourself ok
Ngorbungor: This airline is about to nose dive, or acquired by Dana airline.
Funny you..the are getting two new Airbuses next month.. The interlining came as a result pressure from Nigeria aviation authority.. Secondly ibomair is starting a regional flight next month so this is so needed .. Airfrance, emirate air and delta air are currently doing it.
Again , pls kindly take is to another local government area..Ibeno is filled up already.. Another good news for the beautiful kingdom of Akwa Ibom.. Akwa Ibom is to BUA , what lagos is to dangote
After so many years of pushing by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Nigerian carriers Dana Air and Ibom Air yesterday reached agreement on the first interline/codeshare deal between both domestic airlines.
A codeshare agreement is a business agreement in which two or more airlines publish and market the same flights under their own airline designator and flight number, known as the airline flight code.
Industry experts believe that such interline or codeshare would enhance domestic airline operation, reduce flight delays and cancellation, cost of operation and generate more profits to the airlines participating in that agreement.
The Chief Operating Officer of Ibom Air, George Uriesi, who disclosed this at the quarterly Aviation Round Table (ART) breakfast meeting held virtually with the theme: ‘Utilising Interlining and Codeshare Agreements as Tools for Domestic Airlines Profitability and Passenger Comfort’, gave details of the extent at which his airline had gone to bring the innovation to fruition.
He stated that his airline just finished a long process of interlining with some Nigerian airlines, adding: “We are going to launch it by May 2021.”
Uriesi described the country’s airline industry as competitive because of proliferation of airlines for a small pool of market, which comes with lots of empty seats when aircraft doors are closed.
According to him, “We are on the last phase of the interline project. By May, we shall launch it. The challenge of it is to have partners who are organised and who meet up with the organisation of your company. Your workforce has to work together, seat together to look at your schedule, and integrate into your reservation system.”
The Director-General of NCAA, Musa Nuhu, commended the two airlines and Uriesi for the idea which he believes would help airlines to maximise profit and make air travel enjoyable for passengers and also eliminate delay and flight cancellations. Air, Dana Airline seal interline agreement
Eligible members will be communicated with via email on how to access the venue of the event.

IBIOM – WHEN DOVES FLY INTO UYO
Orman Esin, the hard-working and talented Commissioner of Culture and Tourism, called me that morning saying, Duke, his Excellency has approved. I say Lord be praised. You know I am now an elder in the church, so you will see some of these churchy things in what I do once in a while.
Akwa Ibom today has some of the greatest tourism potential that is being harnessed. From the powerful Tech Tower to the wonderful Golf Course situated in the iconic Ibom Icon Hotel and the deep Seaport in Oron. My most exciting view of Akwa Ibom is the villages, some still in their natural state. I love the clay huts, the lush vegetation, the narrow paths, the streams. This is what we went to see in the Gambia the other day.
Finally, Akwa Ibom is the home of delicacies. There is nothing like diet in that town o – afang, ekpang, afia efere, atama too many to mention. This is the home of Afang. I have eaten Afang on every street in Uyo. Another one is fisherman soup. Oh my God, eat this soup in Ibeno; you will die o. The crayfish, snails, octopus. Yes, o octopus. These and more are the things Orman Esin wants to use to drag both internal tourists and external ones into Akwa Ibom and my new Play Ibiom – When the Doves Fly is heralding all these.
This is my most special play because it will define me as an Akwa Ibom man first and foremost before a Nigerian. The story is sweeter than afang, over 50 dances from some of the most beautiful damsels, the stage and lightings will be out of this world, and my writer Director William Benson has just outdone himself on this one. Ibom Air and MTN are leading a slew of corporates, and guess what? It is free. All free. The Duke’s gift to the people who birthed him. Let’s fly to Uyo and make magic. See you there.
NikAustine: Abeg help me put him in his place before him go dey think say we dey run from m
I don't have such time to waste with him..

Your not from bayelsa becos you can't be proud of that your shithole state .. Secondly you are so cowardly late for the ceremony; meaning no body as your time .. You can now run along now coward, your lateness and baseless comment don't really intetest us bye ..
abnot: And also stop spreading lies for your paymasters . You can’t deceive some of us by lying with two nairaland profiles. Not everyone is gullible .
since you lack common sense stay off my thread with your lies ..
abnot: Those are lease companies known globally for leasing aircrafts. The LSD is a short for for lease. You are very ignorant but using rude words such as “nonsense” to prove a baseless point. Since you have access to the purchase details how much does it say the aircrafts were purchased for ? Go and check your facts and stop dragging me into this. I don’t engage with mentally lazy individuals .
nonsense next time stay off my thread with your lies ..
NikAustine: Lol..oya na. let compare states..no need for argument and insults.
Bayelsa vs Akwa ibom. let compare the Educational standard. Infrastructure security sport Roads healthcare etc... infact do I need to argue this with you?...even Nairalanders here knows Bayelsa is nothing to write home about. Recently Akwa ibom won the most cleanest state in Nigeria top Abuja and lag..where was Bayelsa. We have the highest FDi After Lagos...where is Bayelsa We have two clubs in the Npfl..where is a Bayelsa club Akwa ibom is the home of Super Eagles..where is Bayelsa. Our state is ranked one of the top 5 most developed state in Nigeria..Bayelsa doesn't smell that ranking. in Education we have We have a a higher Unity score than Bayelsa to attain...that's to show you levels...where is Bayelsa. Currently we have the ibomairways...the only state in the entire country with an airline..where is Bayelsa airways? We have attracted much more industries ..Recently the Morocco govt signed a contract to build a plant in Akwa ibom... where's Bayelsa own We have the largest seringe factory after the one in South Africa...where is bayelsa's We have finished and commission a coconut factory ..large ones..where is Bayelsa own We have a topclass hospital...where is Bayelsa. right now we are building the best airport in the whole of first Africa and probably the best and more advanced in Africa.. where is Bayelsa's?
Should I go on?..
Bayelsa is a shit hole state and need to be merge back to Rivers State ..
abnot: Im. For your information in aviation the records are there for every one . If those embraers are 8 years old and global aviation databases have them on record as 3 months old then one must wonder where you got your information from aside the usual hate. If you are interested go and check the records of ibom lease deal. Even the COO of ibom has made reference to their obligations to lessors at different forums so I don’t know where you get your info from except you’re just here to throw insults .
Ibom leased three of those aircrafts from Avmax aircraft leasing company and the other two from falko regional leasing under a dry lease agreement .
shutup you . Ibomair acquired 3 aircraft at once from the same company .. while the 4 & 5 came from the same company . So how is it possible to buy 2 from one company and the other I lease from the same company .. Air peace new jet is 8 yrs old go and watch the owners interview with Arise news ..nonsense
abnot: Bought from which company ? Those aircrafts were leased . If your government lied to you go and check the records. In Aviation, some databases are available to the public. And also check the age of those embraer planes you made reference to instead of displaying hate here. There is nothing bad in leasing an aircraft it doesn’t make you less as an airline. Even Ethiopian leased some aircrafts in their fleet .
the listed the companies ..so stop taking nonsense .. Go through Ibomair purchase detail
abnot: I’m sure every operator wants to fly a new aircraft but it’s expensive and unaffordable. In addition most of these operators want to make quick money out of aviation and close shop afterwards. Regarding ibomair it’s a state funded airline and they leased those regional jets . They didn’t buy them. Akwa ibom tax payers are contributing towards the lease. At the moment it is difficult for Nigerian airlines to lease (dry lease ) an aircraft as they’ve been kind of black listed. These are some of the challenges they face. Each of those airplanes Allen Onyema bought from Brazil cost $60 million whereas this 22 year old one cost $2million.
In 18 months time the 22 year old one will go for c-check and cally air will spend $3 million dollars on repairs . Most operators will dump the aircraft and pick another cheap one for $2 million . After doing that twice or thrice they exit the business
You get sense at all ? Who told you Ibomair is under lease? You need to be very careful of the lies you put up ok . Meanwhile your eatern brother embre planes are all 8years old ok
Rugaria: Still at the committee level? When will the socalled committe submit their report? Next decade? Then another committe to look into the committes report....
