The drive by Governor Udom Emmanuel to showcase the investment opportunities in Akwa Ibom State to the international community and attract foreign investment to the fast growing state, in line with his industrialization agenda, received a major boost yesterday, Monday, June 6, 2021, as the state's exhibition booth became the centre of attraction at the ongoing Nigeria International Petroleum Summit, tagged NIPS 2021, holding in Abuja, the nation's capital.
The fourth edition of the Summit, which draws participants from top government functionaries and other policy makers from the federal and state levels, International Oil Companies (IOCs), exhibitors from various manufacturers and other industry players in the oil and gas sectors from America, Europe, Asia, as well as other countries of Africa, seeks to draw new narratives for the post COVID-19 era.
Addressing newsmen at the State's exhibition stand, the Akwa Ibom State Commissioner for Power and Petroleum Development, Dr. John James Etim, who is the head of the state’s delegation to the summit, while noting that the State was participating in the global oil and gas summit for the first time, commended Governor Udom Emmanuel for blazing the trail in showcasing the investment opportunities of the state at the global converge.
Underscoring the benefits that Akwa Ibom State will garner from the summit, the Commissioner said “A lot of people and companies that did not know what is going on in the state in terms of her huge opportunities in the oil and gas sector and the general developments in the state will now come to terms with these'.
[/b]He added that “already so many companies from Egypt, India, China, Europe and other parts of the world, upon visiting our exhibition stand have expressed their willingness to come and invest in Akwa Ibom.”
The Power and Petroleum Development boss, while commending the State Governor, Governor Emmanuel for creating enabling environment for foreign investments to thrive in the state, stated that Akwa Ibom State, being one of the most peaceful and hospitable states in the country is now a prized destination of choice for business and leisure in the Nigeria.[b]
Among the items on display at the Akwa Ibom State exhibition stand is a Television Documentary titled "Akwa Ibom State: A Business Destination of Choice", Magazines and other publications of the State's Ministry of Information and Strategy as well as compendium of oil and gas industry players and other related materials.
Other members of the Akwa Ibom State delegation at the summit include the Director of Petroleum in the Ministry of Power and Petroleum Development, Engineer Emmanuel Inyang; and the Director of Information in the Ministry of Information and Strategy, Akparawa James Edet.
Earlier, while declaring NIPS 2021 opened at the Conference Hall of the Presidential Villa in Aso Rock, President Muhammadu Buhari described the large hydrocarbon deposits in Nigeria as huge blessings that should be urgently harnessed, saying the country cannot turn its back on its many benefits.
President Buhari who was represented at the event by the Minister of State, Petroleum Resources, Mr. Timipre Sylva, emphasized that the principal aftermath expected of the converge should be the master plan and new perspectives for the future of the hydrocarbon in the country.
“We cannot turn our back yet on more exploration. The discovery of new fields is crucial and we need to address short term opportunities using technology that can extend the life of the fields”, the President said.
Examining the theme of NIPS 2021, “From Crises to Opportunities”, President Buhari noted that it was apt, considering that governments across the world are now zeroing in on tracing and managing the crises caused by COVID-19 to their economies, with a view to energy transitioning.
In their separate remarks, the Senate President, Alhaji Ahmed Lawan, and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr. Femi Gbajabiamila assured of the 9th National Assembly’s support in ensuring an effective and efficient management of the oil and gas sector of the nation's economy, especially through the passage the Petroleum Industry Bill (PIB).
The 4th Nigeria International Petroleum Summit which commenced on Monday June 6 and scheduled to end on Friday June 10, 2021, has as its theme "From Crises to Opportunities".
It is expected that NIPS 2021 will leverage on the successes of the previous three editions of the Summit and provide for a definitive platform, not just for Nigeria but also for Africa to engage the global energy community.

The aircraft leased from Egypt Air are anticipated to be game changers as they would strengthen the airline’s fleet for route expansion and bring its size to seven (7).

The guy makes sense. Buildings are always built in advanced nations with regards to the environment, cost of maintainance, and other environmental and economic considerations put into check.
First, that very tall building looks odd and unnecessary in that locality. Once the oil company or the multinational companies who are supposed and could only afford the renting leaves the state, the building could be useless because ordinary persons can hardly afford the rent. Again the cost of building or maintaining that building is so high, which could have been channelled into projects that will better the lives of the locals and put food on their tables; if less economical building was erected.
Then what common sense is there that you built a world class building surrounded by mud houses?
So many reasons that make that building look so stupid in that environment.
In a poor environment like ours, buildings projects should be made simple, easy to maintain, affordable and multi purpose.... and save cost, use the money and do other projects that are targeted at bettering the lives of the locals.
How many of those gigantic projects in those locals are used to the full, and how many are maintained?
Money spent on maintaining those huge projects are a waste if you don't use the project to the full capacity.
So what exactly is your issue with the building? Guy no body is stupid to build such an edifice without consulate plans on ground both plan A & B . Allow the said building to die a natural dead first ok, don't kill it yourself ok.
GOVERNOR EMMANUEL INSPECTS ONGOING 8.4KM FLOOD CONTROL PROJECT
Governor Udom Emmanuel today paid an unscheduled visit to the construction site of the N14BN, 8.4km Ibrahim Babangida Avenue flood control project.
The Akwa Ibom State Government / World Bank assisted project awarded to China Road and Bridge Corporation,CRBC, cuts across 17 communities in 3 local government areas Uyo, Nsit Ibom and Ibesikpo Asutan.
Governor Emmanuel who was conducted round the project location by the State Commissioner for Environment and Solid Minerals , Sir. Charles Udoh, had in his delegation, top government officials.

2. Rivers State
Blessed with a vast deposit of crude oil and natural gas, Rivers state is the second-richest state in Nigeria and the number 1 in the South-south region of the country. The state houses Port Harcourt, one of the biggest and the most urban cities in Nigeria at the moment.
With a population of over 7 million, the state is currently the 6th most populous state in Nigeria. Apart from oil which generates over 70 percent of the state’s GDP of $21.07 billion, the state is also rich in other natural resources like Silica sand, glass sand, and clay.
In agriculture, Rivers is known for the production of quality palm oil, cassava, cocoyam, maize beans, yam, and rice. The state is also blessed with lots of cash crops such as rubber, raffia palm and jute.
3. Delta State
Imagine a Nigeria without the oil and the financial contribution of this state located within the Niger Delta region of the country, our GDP as a country won’t be as high as it is.
With a population of over 4 million people, this oil-rich state is one of the most populous in the country. If you have ever heard of Warri, Sapele or Asaba, they are the major cities you can find in Delta.
The state is not only rich in crude oil and natural gas, but it also has several other natural resources like industrial clay, silica, limestone, and decorative rocks. Its GDP IS $16.749 billion.
4. Oyo State
Nicknamed as the pacesetter state, Oyo State is a Yoruba dominated state located in the South-western part of Nigeria.
The state though not blessed with crude oil like the first 3 states in this list, is still among the richest in the country.
With a GDP of $16.121 billion, Oyo is far richer than most oil-producing states in the country- thanks to its agricultural development programmes that have helped promote farming activities within the state.
Oyo’s agricultural products include maize, millet, cocoa, cassava, cashew, palm produce and several others.
5. Imo State
Imo is the fifth-richest state in Nigeria presently. Located in the Southeastern region of the country, the state is also the richest in the whole of the southeast.
With Owerri being its commercial and political capital, the state ranks high among the most developed in the country.
The oil-producing state is the home of notable public figures like Owelle Rochas Okorocha, the immediate past governor and a senator within the country.
The state is blessed with crude oil and natural gas, calcium, Iroko, bamboo, oil palm, rubber tree, mahogany and obeche that fetch lots of revenue for the state. You can also find limestone, fine sand and white clay within the state.
Imo State’s GDP stands at $14.212 billion as of 2019.
6. Kano State
The commercial hub of Northern Nigeria, Kano state is undeniably among the most economically important states in the country.
The state is home to notable persons like the Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, the former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria.
The state is the largest industrial center after Lagos in Nigeria and the largest in the Northern part of the country.
Kano generates its revenue from agriculture and industries like textiles, footwear, cosmetics, enamelware, ceramics, furniture, pharmaceuticals, plastics, and animal feeds.
The state is Nigeria’s most populous state and has a GDP of $12.393 billion.
7. Edo State
This state is home to four major ethnic groups: the Bini, Esan, Etsako, and Owan. It is one of Nigeria’s richest oil-producing states.
Apart from crude oil, Edo is also blessed with limestone, quarry and other natural resources. The economic center of Benin City is also the political capital of the state.
With a population of over 5 million, this state is also among the most populous in the country.
Edo State’s annual GDP is $11.888 billion, making it the seventh-richest state in Nigeria today.
8. Akwa Ibom State
Blessed with abundant reserves of crude oil and natural gas, Akwa Ibom is one of Nigeria’s most economically important states.
Nicknamed “the land of Promise”, this South-South state is home to Ibom Air (an airline), an international airport, Ibom E-Library, and a World-class stadium.
Its political capital and commercial centre, Uyo are among the biggest cities in Nigeria presently.
The state is home to top political figures in the country like Godswill Akpabio, a former governor of the state and a former senate minority leader.
Akwa Ibom is seriously involved in agriculture, industries and other things that generate enough revenue for the state. The state has a GDP of $11.179 billion and is among the richest states in the country in 2019.
9. Ogun State
Ogun state nicknamed the “Gateway State” is one of the major manufacturing centres in Nigeria.
The state is home to several companies and factories like Dangote Cement factory, Lafarge Cement factory, Nestle, Procter and Gamble, Nestle and several others.
Ogun is also home to so many notable persons like the popular Boxer Anthony Joshua, Wole Soyinka, Olusegun Obasanjo, Obafemi Awolowo, Moshood Abiola, Mike Adenuga, Femi Kuti, Ebenezer Obey, Wizkid and so many others.
The rice Ofada Rice which is known to be very good in terms of quality is grown almost exclusively in the state.

10. Kaduna State
Like Kano, Kaduna is one of the states that made it to this list from the Northern part of the country. The state is quite popular for its major cities like Kaduna, Kafanchan Zaria, and Nok.
The state is known for its agricultural activities which are the major source of revenue for the state. Some of its agricultural products include millet, maize, groundnut, livestock (cattle) and dairy.
Nicknamed the “Centre of learning”, the state is one of the states with the most educational institutions in the country.
With a GDP OF $10.334 billion, Kaduna is the 10th richest state in Nigeria at the moment. Some of its natural resources include Gold, Graphite, Amethyst, kyanite and Sillimanite.
World Corporate Golf Challenge (WCGC), an International amateur golf event will make a big landing in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom state capital on June 4th when the second edition of Falcon Golf Development Company organized tournament tees-off in the state.
Billed for the lush greens of Ibom Icon Hotels and Golf Resort, the 2021 edition of the tournament will feature over 60-teams battling for an all expense paid trip to the world finals of the competition in Cascais, Portugal in November.

Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom state has set modalities to commence commercial production of tomato puree - the concentrate used for making tomato paste. The commissioner for trade and investment, Barr. Ukpong Akpabio gave this hint during the graduation ceremony organised for 169 youths who successfully completed training in vegetable enterprise development in the state recently. A statement sent to Legit.ng by the Akwa Ibom government on Monday, May 17 indicates that the event was held in Okobo local government area of the state on Friday, May 14. Barrister Akpabio, who was represented by the permanent secretary in his ministry, Mr. Oliver Udo-okpo, stated that the government is taking steps to ensure youths are sufficiently and productively engaged in agriculture and food production.
His words:
“His Excellency, Governor Udom Emmanuel, has given us the directive to bring tomato puree factory to the state in no distant future and your tomato farms located across the state will supply raw materials needed for commercial production of tomato paste.” He commended the trainees for their perseverance and focus throughout the two-month intensive training programme despite several hurdles, saying those challenges only served to strengthen them. The commissioner thanked the consulting firm which handled the training for partnering government in taking youths off vices such as arm robbery, hooliganism, prostitution e.t.c. In his vote of thanks, one of the trainees, Mr. Edem Ebong, thanked Governor Emmanuel for providing platforms to gainfully employ Akwa Ibom youths.
