You have to state cogent reasons why you need a one year visa. Yes, state is there and attach all previous visas.
Sojeezy247:
Congratulations!

Please what category of visa did you apply for was it frequent traveler(long term) or short term, what additional documents did you submit and did you request specifically for a year visa in your introduction letter?

Cover letters don't determine visa approvals in all cases; these are just supportive documents.

In my opinion, keep everything simple and attach documents that are relevant to your application.

I have attended several interviews, and speaking from experience.

You did be suprised that, the person you least expected are the ones that usually breakthrough.

Understanding this dynamics is important.

If you like carry all the documents in this world with account balance running into millons, it still doesn't guarantee an approval.
puffmama:
Yes he needs to let them know oh ..I presently have long duration valid visas -. UK, US , Canada and Schengen and I don't fail to mention that .
Apart from properties, strong ties can be family, commitment to church/ mosque..list it .let then know. Nothing like too much information . Infact anyone without a strong cover letter has a high risk of rejection for Schengen. Its only US that does not require a cover letter.
In one word, keep your application simple yet detailed and hope for the best.

Good day all. Please i need advice for UK Visa application application
1. Self employed with Business registered with CAC. however, do not have a company bank account operate with personal bank account
2. Sibling will be inviting so accommodation and feeding is sorted
3. Married with 3kids but traveling alone
4. No travel history
5. Holiday is for 2weeks
Kindly advice on how to go ahead with the application to avoid visa refusal. Thank You
CC Giselle237, justwise ,cashmadam CornOak, Hunee Ashirioluwa
Thank you.

I will advise you, with the increasing spate of refusals not to attach cac if you will not tag your bank statement.

Better to apply as an employee for your/an organisation and say you are working as XYZ.

Attach employment letter too to proof that.

Work on your payslips but be sure it reflect what you have on your bank statement.

Typically, irregular monies in your account can cause refusals.

Explain with a letter if need arises, avoid lengthy explanation, tabulating can help give analysis of your finances.

Attach proof of ties to Nigeria.

Other supporting documents.

Technically, don't mention on your application you have someone in the UK, you are a first time applicant.

Others can add something too. Goodluck.

TravelRe: Securing Visa To France, Applying From Nigeria... by hunee:

In my personal opinion (I stand to be corrected), the purpose of including a cover letter is to share additional information/clear any doubts in the mind of the VO. Looking at this letter, all information shared can be found on your checklist/application form.
I agree with you.
However, these are not parameters for visa decisions
Flow with the trend.

You can see the spate of rejections of late. This is summer period. There's a workload, visa officers around this time will typically not have time to be reading long texts.

I am advocate of supporting documents. Once your documents are solid enough it's OK.

Remember too that most of these details are already stated on your visa form.

I already said earlier. Visas are applied for technically and strategically, so always have that at the back of your mind.

Hi Hunee
I just got this response today from the Embassy on my staffs evisa.
Why do you think it was rejected, do you think I should appeal or just wait for the outcome on the physical VFS process.
Thanks, looking forward to your thoughts
Much appreciated
Re apply but attach the recent reference letters and 3 month bank statement.

First of all, browse “public universities in France” to know.

Next, browse campusFrance (https://www.nigeria.campusfrance.org/) and follow prompt according to the desired course you are going to take and the schools that offer them, there you’d know which public uni offers your desired course. This is because, not all unis or public unis might offer your course.
Thank you for guiding.

I've worked on the cover letter to reduce the amount of irrelevant information using your sample as a guide. I'll attach two screenshots. The version 1 is the previous version and the version 2 is the latest one.

I really want to highlight the strong ties to home country (the text after my list of attached documents) because I'm a young single male traveller. The reason for this is based on what I've read online, visa issuing officers are always looking for the slightest chance to deny the application of applicants with my profile (young, single, male) so one has to provide enough proof that yes, I'll return home after my trip in order to further convince them.

But, I'm still looking forward to your opinion on that as well.

Thanks once again!
Version 2 is okay

Attach your documents. Supporting documents should be sufficient.

Please use this letter I gave as a guide.

Public schools are cheap schools, just learn French and apply to be taught in French. Some of these public schools even collect the same school fees from both native and international students.

Me, I’ve been learning it since December 2023.
Incredible. Please recommend public schools in France for degree or diploma programmes. I want to pass to a relative urgently.

Wow, this looks very simple, thank you for sharing.

So, you've been using this format to get France visas?

Also, the Tax document you mentioned in number 4 of your list, is it the company tax document or your personal tax?
Hi, Goodevening.
This is what and how your letters should look like.
You can also use same as guide for company , vacation leave letters too.
Simple and light.
You can attach sufficient documents as support.

Tax document can be personal or company ,the one from JTB OR FIRS is fine.

Please tag me if you need further information.

I don't think this news is credible. It is not reported by any credible media outlet. More so, Zambia itself doesn't refund visa fees when an application is denied, so they are not in a position to ask other countries to refund visa fees.
You see. What goes around comes around. In all, we are talking about the recklessness of most of these foreign missions.
They are raking billions of naira with these rejections annually and to me, it is beginning to look like a franchise.

Grant 10 visas
Reject 100
That kind of ideology.
They have quotas. We know
The People suffer.

My own advise to anyone who cares to listen. If you don't have any pressing need to travel, sit down in your country o
Even the abroad sef is not easy
You must be vast in alot of things to survive out of your home country.

Continue to tour Ghana, Senegal and the rest, do local and regional trips to build your passport.

Else, be ready to handle the outcome of any visa feedback.

Its really a sad thing. I believe they don't do their job diligently. Imagine my staff's visa was refused a day to an event citing that the event had lapsed - how can an event that has not happened lapse? They also didn't take into account an updated information (sent by courier) notifying them of a change of date. They were just determined to deny the young man a visa. I should add, that they contacted the event organisers like three weeks before to verify the invitation, which they did, only for them to deny the visa after how many weeks.

We sent an appeal, they ignored. We had to begin using diplomatic channels, that was when they called the applicant directly from the High Commission to reapply, that they won't reopen a closed file This was on a Friday, and event was on Tuesday, just a few days away. By this time we had already applied for evisa for him (which was later denied) on the grounds that they couldn't reach the event organisers to verify the invitation. 🤣🤣🤣😅.
I was in Brooklyn, home affairs department sometime ago. That is where vfs office is in Pretoria. I saw things. The system is quite corrupt. The people approving these visas , I also don't think are stable for these positions they hold. Since when I have been applying for visas, I think home affairs is the most disorganised and unstable.

They don't allow you appeal a visa for their mistakes! Very complex and notorious agency.

Go to their Facebook channel, even their own citizens that applied for ID since 8, 9, 10 years, them never see card collect.

Botswana, Namibia organise pass South Africa walahi.

The SA home affairs department is enormously plagued with corrupt practises and that is the result you are seeing.

I read a report online , that Zambia president is asking foreign missions to start refunding applicant with failed visa applications.
TravelRe: General South Africa Visa Enquiries by hunee: 3:01am On May 25, 2025
South Africa has one of the most complex visa departments. They deny your visa for no just reason. Check the pages back back, you will see different complaint
Africankel:
Forget appealing and reapply. We sent an appeal for someone recently, they ignored. After putting pressure on them through 'official' channels, they called and asked the applicant to reapply, as they don't reopen a closed visa case.
Standfit, re apply ok but attach a cover letter by your lawyer as support and explain what you did better on the fresh application.

Goodluck
