gbrown: nice one, the federal universities in this country how many are well equipped and meet international standard? If lecturers decide to go on strike the govt is less perturbed cos their kids dont school in Nigeria, i commend oyedepo for his efforts to sanitise the educational sector, my only stress with these missionary universities springing up everywhere is the exorbitant fees, i know the cost of building materials has skyrocket, coupled with payment of lecturers and utilities, i pray they cut down the fees so it,s affordable to church members who are not so rich, since it,s a public institution other nigerians would also want their children to attend such schools, i thank all the pastors for their tireless efforts to clean the rot in our educational sector, pls covenant university,babcock university and redeemers university, reduce ur fees, i know it,s not easy to maintain a university but make it affordable

seconded, my only problem with all this unversity is the high school fees and the way student treated like babies some of this unversity dont allow student use to phone

jeffoski: I don't think the state govt is taking the right step on dis okada issue.Yes I agree they have their flaws and have caused many accident but is not like other vehicles are 100% safe too.And yes they are been used for armed robbery but Danfo,cabs,taxi,Private cars etc are also used for robbery as well infact they are number 1 when it comes to one chance,kidnapping,ritual killing e.t.c which is on the increase now and I have not heard for once that the police or any security agent have apprehend any1 now tell me how do dis same police and military want to protect our lives and property with the high rate of crime that is about to hit lagos?


There are ways to organize the activities of this okada riders. Set up an organization that can help train this riders on how to ride(just like driving school),educate and enlighten them about riding and the traffic laws of the state. Make sure is not every one dat gets to operate but those that have been well trained and have been giving license to do so(just like driving permit or license)and also make sure that the security agent on the road are serious people who can checkmate their activities and make sure they keep to the laws.


I remember the time they told all okada riders to get new plate number,use helmet and not carry more than 1 passenger at a time. this people kept to this rule because of the strict penalty but still dis security agent in some areas relax and where not strict with their duties.

Taking a way their source of living with no alternative means will not solve the problem. Some of them do not have a village to return back to due to the recent flood and boko haram activities. I heard one rider last week lamenting on how his village was affected by this bakassi issue and he didn't know where his fate lies anymore. seriously if life in the village was rosy and good am sure many of them won't even bother coming to lagos in the 1st place. some people who are not okada riders but suffering here would have gone back to their village. Farmers are not having the best of times especially when the government abandon agriculture for Oil.

The best way to combat this situation is either re organizing the whole system or create employment opportunity cos with the number of un employed youth we have now (both educated and non)and now d large number of okada riders joining at this crucial point(EMBER season) we are only creating more problems for ourselves.

LASU now on 250k schools fees without. Any notable upgrade
Most roads are still crap on the mainland.
No tourism

It seems they are taking credit for the private sector development like hotels and industries

It is righ to criticize the government but in doing so we must be fair and balanced to say the ONLY thing is BRT is either mischievous or ignorant?

Lagos state has indigenes,and there are several rural communities outside the metropolis. In Lagos there are now Community development Associations and committtees all over the state with funding from Ikeja. There are channels of communication open to government and people have some say in their community infrastructure. There have been several good initiatives though I believe the city area is unduly favoured.

There were several medium Housing schemes built across the state by Tinubu and Lagos State now has A functioning Teaching Hospital. A light rail Project is underway and a contract to expand Ikorodu road just awarded.
The business district around Nnamdi Azikiwe area in Lagos was redone by Tinubu Those who know Lagos cannot claim ignorance of this or the recent power project at the Hospital on Lagos Island or the bridge linking Lekki and Ikoyi or the Bridge at Isolo or the badagry expressway and Light Rail project or the several farming estates in Ikorodu/Gberigbe. The truth is Transforming Lagos State with an annual budget of just over $1 billion dollars a year is no child's play. The FG left for Abuja and abandoned several infrastructure without maintenance.
I do not think Tinubu or even Fashola are saints and do not really wish to hold forte for them here but they cannot be compared to Ibori or Igbenedion. Having said that in many ways the party ACN is not dissimilar to PDP and that is because their members are NIGERIANS. Nigerians generally have a problem of discipline and probity regardless of party
