Nairaland GeneralCelebrating 60 Minutes Of Darkness by hymen(op): 6:38am On Mar 28, 2011
Residents of Dubai recently marked Earth day by switching off their lights for one hour.

In Nigeria we celebrate 60 minutes of uninterrupted electricity.

Na wa !

http://gulfnews.com/news/gulf/uae/environment/earth-hour-sees-light-as-residents-celebrate-60-minutes-of-darkness-1.783408

Dubai: Thousands of people gathered last night at the Burj Plaza, with candle-lit lanterns, to celebrate Earth Hour with millions more people around the world.

For 60 minutes from 8.30pm the lights at some of the biggest landmarks dimmed to black including the Burj Khalifa, to raise awareness on environment degradation caused by climate change.

Dear LB,
Please can you help give some insight on what Islam says about forgiving people/actions/wrong.

The impression I have (please correct me) is that 'an eye for an eye' is the rule rather than the excepton.

Enlightenment please .

Thank you as always.

@LagosShia,I believe the basis for our discussion no longer exists as I like all other sovereign countries (including the United nations) recognise the legitimacy of the Bahraini Govt under His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. As you do not recognise this obvious fact I guess my contribution to this thread ends here.

As posted extensively here ,its very dangerous to view EVERYTHING IN LIFE from the only Shiism. Religion should be viewed from the religious point of view, while politics should be analysed from the political point of view.

I wish you the best.

Wow ! I can see the discussion has taken a turn.

I'm rushing out now,but for Lagos Shia for mre details on Asian deaths at the hands of 'ant-govt' protesters

Like I've said we are all trying to heal here in BH & there's reduced emphasis on sectarianism.

take care.

Firstly ,I will like to advise you don’t descend to insults. Think about it -you insult me ,I’ll insult you with my next post & on it goes.

It doesn’t serve the topic any good.

I know when it comes to religion passions get inflamed , but I trust you’re matured enough to control your emotions ,afterall neither of us is Bahraini ,I hope you understand. I won’t therefore respond to your ‘SHUT-UP’ comment hoping this will be the last of such personal insults.

LagosShia:
you have not answered me.
was it not the government that started the violence against peaceful protesters?please answer me and stop preaching what is offtopic.
i did not justify the killings of asians.dont twist words to make it look like i am a racist.there are indians and pakistanis in bahrain who were naturalized on sectarian basis.and those foreigners were holding protests to supprt the tyrannical king or in other words to support the oppression of the shia.
Please find below your previous comment deleted by the SPAMBOT, you can get it from your profile & mine.

@Hymen,
you're sympathizing with the indians and pakistanis in bahrain in one of your posts and because they were attacked by protesters as you claimed, you want to tag the protesters as "extremists".
for your information,it is very legitimate for the bahraini shia to attack the indians and pakistanis in bahrain as it is legitimate for palestinian sunnis to attack jewish settlers.no difference at all!!!
Is the govt perfect? Certainly not ! There is evidence of corruption and other anomalies & no one even in bahrain will tell you the govt is perfect,so please don’t mis-quote me.

Violence was definitely started by the govt on Feb 14 and this was acknowledged and the King declared a national day on mourning on Feb 25 to mourn the 7 deaths. You won’t have this information because you are not based here.

Is this enough & do the marginalised majority deserve to be angry – CERTAINLY ! All of bahrain was with the protest for one month, everything came to a head about 10 days ago when the started protesting in secondary schools and culminated in the viscios attack at the University of bahrain last Sunday.

This are facts on ground you do not have.

So let’s leave the general themes of Sunni royals -Shia discrimination & discuss the SPECIFICS of this otherwise laudale Bahraini revolution.

LagosShia:
dialogue with the bahraini royals is like dialogue of the palestinians with the israelis.you do not dialogue people that steal your land and your rights and have a gun pointed against your head.that is not dialogue. that is compulsion. who are you mocking here?
Whether you like it or nor WAR will never solve the Israel-Palestinian conflict. We have over 60 years of history to prove that, you may think it will, but I think not. That’s another story I can write a book about.
IslamRe: Shia Justice And The Sunni Predicament On The Popular Middle East Revolutions by hymen(f): 9:27pm On Mar 20, 2011
My comments are quite clear.

Every religion has an extreme wing. Osama & Al Qaeda believe Shias,Americans are working for the devil & should be killed,he reads the same Qu'ran has our respected LagosBoy  kiss .

You have just said Shias should take up arms & equally justified the killing of Asians in bahrain, that does not tally with the views of the majority of my Shia friends & neighbours, hence my question if this is your interpretation of 12ver Islam??

Some religious people reason ,others only listen to anything Ayatollah tells them (including to sacrifice themselves as matyrs & get all the unbroken v.a.ginal rewards in aljannah  cheesy cheesy).

I gave you all the examples of Hezbollah,Iran,Lebanon & Syria to show you the hypocrisy associated with mixing religion & politics.

Finally- I (like most bahrainis) support the efforts of the Crown Prince to reform the political system in bahrain & do not support any form of sectarianism ( No Sunni,No Shia- only Bahraini).

P.S: Your pictures just confirms my suggestion that we need to dialogue  & not go through your futile advice to encourage matyrdom.

(My response to all your comments on the right for shias to kill Indians, pakistanis & the righteousnes of Iran & Hezbollah)
I am shocked that a religious adherent will say it is write to kill & maim people in the name of politics ?? So where are your religious tenets? Will God be proud of you as a worshipper of God that you support the killing of innocents?

There are almost 400,000 indians & Pakistanis in Bahrain, probably less than 1% work for the security forces and even less are ‘nationalised’,so whats your problem?

So because Nigerians scam people on ‘419’ all Nigerians should be targeted or because muslims blow up themselves for allah, all muslims should be profiled as possible terrorists?

Your arguments do not hold water. If people have problems with their govt, there are legitimate ways of going about it without killing expatriate. What then is the difference between your religion and idol worship with ‘oro’ and ‘ebo’ (sacrifice) ?
The answer is simple religion & politics for a very dangerous mix. LEAVE RELIGION OUT OF POLITICS !
The religious leader purports to to get his legitimacy from God,while the polical leader is supposed to get his legitimacy from the people, the moment one person tries to combine the 2 like the theocracies in Iran & Hezbollah, you can only have unmitigated disaster.

Hezbollah rejects Saudi intervention in Bahrain , but supports Syrian invasion of Lebanon. Hypocrisy is a human trait & has no religious face.

On the Lebanese system, if their constitution supports dividing the political positions between faiths for stability ,who are you to say it is wrong??
Afterall the Iranian constitution vests enormous political power in a religious leader who should be praying regularly to God + studying and meditating on religious texts? If that makes sense to you , you have no right to disparage another country’s constitution. Different countries have different systems. As a matter of fact this kind of system will be the key to stability in Nigeria(zoning),the PDP have a fair idea of this unfortunately they are focused of enriching themselves & not improving the country ,or else its not a bad idea.

The solution to the Bahraini problem is political & should not be viewed strictly from a sectarian lense , otherwise the problems will never end. For example we have(until recently) more blacks in the USA than Hispanics, but you have many more Hispanic senators, it’s all about delineation of districts, is it currently done correctly in Bahrain, what will be the status of women ,minorities and governorates, do we need an upper House (Shura council)? These are political questions which no religion can answer , but genuine discussions between political leaders?

I don’t think Iran is the best to teach anyone how to handle protesters.

Dear LagosShia,
Its sad that you take things personal.

Asking for people to take up arms against their government is really quite sad. Why don't you offer yourself to come & die for them instead.

I have responded to all your childish responses on the issue ,which has also been eaten up by the SPAM BOT.

I will repost my comments again below.

As advised earlier don't post such horrific pictures directly. provide the link and advise people, its not right for you to post them directly, kindly follow Nairaland rules!

On Hassan Mushaima & the haq movement- Their fellow Shias - Al Wefaq consider them extremists.

I think you like bloodshed a lot, well ,i was broght up to appreciate the sanctity of life & will never encourage people to take up arms & get them selves killed .

Anyone that thinks violence will solve anything can look at the futile efforts of Al Qaeda in Iraq,Hezbollah & hamas. You kill them ,they kill you & it goes on & on. Always give peace a chance ,maybe your version of twelver Islam does not understand peace ,but its the way forward for humanity. Enough of the blood shed. Think of peace always not killing ,killing ,killing.

You may think it will solve anything ,but it willnot.

Please have a look at these facebook sites for more information :

You may disagree with my opinion . . not facts.

Total population of Bahrain - 1.2 million
Non-Bahraini - 600,000
Bahrainis - 500,000 (Shia - 370,000 & Sunni - 125,000 ,Jews-37 rest -Christians & others)

So i wonder where you get your 'millions of bahrainis' from ?? huh huh

Press TV is owned by the Iranian govt ,to say they don't have their own view is like saying NTA does not support the Nigerian govt. undecided

Please dnt present things based on sentiments - give me facts. We are not discussing hadith or Qu'ran here.

Damn it, i had lots of sympathy for some of the opressed shia in Bahrain , why are they doing this. They should not turn this in to sectarinism like som eshias want it to be. Sectarian clashes would not enable them attain what they want to. If the copts and muslim could come together to bring down mubarak , it could be done in Bahrain as well.

Sectarian objectives just plays into the hand of the silly house of Saud and their Bahraini stooges. This is my crux with Lagosshia on here as he himself is turning this uprising inot sectarinism. We would never move foward as a nation with all these sectarianism.
You are right. There has always been the suspicion that Iran is getting involved. Buts the violence was really unnecessary. The extremist Shia politician is one Mushaima,he was in self exile in the UK,but came back 2 weeks ago as part of govt reforms.

However he said he wants the King to be deposed ! And led protests to the Kings area which is Sunni and that escalated the situation,he also encouraged his supporters to protest in secondary schools !!! And of course the sunni student would stand for it,it led to a stabbing in a girls secondary school last week.
.
It came to a head 2 days ago when they prevented everyone from going to work by blocking the highways and instigated fighting at the University of Bahrain ,btw sunni & shia. The Mushaima guy tried to escape back to London yesterday ,but was prevented

The govt had little option in my opinion. Yes it played very well into the govt hands, but thats what you get when you allow extremists to take over your peaceful protests.

Really sad this paradise has been turned into this.

The people blaming the US don't know whats going on.

Life is not all about comfort, or are you trying to say if the white man was to enslave and let you leave comfortably you will forgo your freedom? Pls the minority rulership that does not consult with its people but instead denies them their legitimate political rights has no right to continue to lord over the people, no matter how comfortable you actually are leadership is above food and comfort but centres around Justice and accountability, their being used by their religious leaders(A story you invented) does not mean they should not ask for their rights, as long as the majority of people you lead do not want you or your dictatorial tendencies to rule them, then you should just leave. I notice because you are a Christian you believe Dictatorship is cool for muslims, so long as it grants you your comfort. I wonder when the Black man will be able to see beyound food and comfort and insist on their rights?
Unfortunately your comments are gleaned form the news wires. I LIVE HERE ! What rights has your govt in Nigeria given you ??

Does your country guarantee you unemployment benefits, free medical, free education and subsidised housing, uninterrupted electricity, almost zero crime rate(no such thing as 'armed robbery' here) and the list goes on ?

Is there room for improvement? Of course ! The political situation now is much better than it was 10 years ago and is the best in the gulf (along with Kuwait),everyone agrees its going slowly, but do you have to bring down the country to achieve this??

Lebanon is the most democratic country in the middle east and everyone will tell you its probably the most unstable.

Look at Iraq now with its 'democracy'. The situation in Bahrain is unique and must never be allowed to be sectarian.

Is there corruption?Absolutely ! Are the royal family screwing everybody - yes ! But in the final anaysis what matters is quality of life and human rights.

The first question simply means a nal s e x and that is another phenomenom amongst our holier than thou women nowadays here in the UK. The go sleeping around and taking it from the back preserving the front one and when they marry their husbands thinks he has an angel for a wife who is a "virgin".

In no mincing words a nal s e x is the only thing forbidden in islam when it comes to sexual matters as well as sex during mensturation. Aside these 2 things islam does not place restriction of any form on how we derive our sexual pleasures as long as it is with a legitimate partner.

And God knows best
^ Intensify the prayer well well
Well said. It (posterior entry)is a really common phenomenom nowadays. . .

All you have said conforms with very good advise from Dr Kotb -an Egyptian devout muslim sex consellor

I don't get the first question undecided
@Bolded,May God also protect us from men who put pressures(directly or indirectly) on our women,Men who all their see in women is virginity and men who are not virgins themselves but wud have the effrontery to abuse a sister that is not a virgin.
Thank you o ,my sister ! In Nigeria probably it isn't much of a big deal. In the middle east a girl could get killed,if 'blood' doesnt show on wedding night based on arab tribal influenced interpretations of islam. As per second question. . . . you'll have t get a dico o !

Lady Hymen , long time wink

Reconstruction of whatever as far as i know would not be permitted in islam as it is plainly a fraudulent way of presenting yourself as what you are not. It is not mandatory in islam to marry a virgin aand a non virgin could well be married which leaves us to ask for the motive of reconstruction.

I am aware it is very common nowadays and may God protect us from such women who are out to claim what they are not, they are nothing but fraudsters who lack in self confidence and are plain hypocrites.+

And God knows best
I dey o brother wink. . .We still dey pray. . . smiley

What is the Islamic position on
1. Posterior entry (to keep sisters virgins)
2.Reconstructing the hymen in the event of 'accidents' - this is now very popular in the ME.

This has nothing to do with me,I'm just asking.
