Career / Re: Environmental (environmental Technologist,safety Etc):lets Meet Here by Hyper85(m): 10:29am On Sep 05, 2016
Good morning, I will like to correct some impressions here. Every body can lay claim to being an environmentalist. This is because environmental science is a broad discipline and nobody is a professional in every facets of it, this is why having an Msc is necessary if you really want to succeed in this area. The knowledge you think you have in your first degree are mostly general introduction to environmental issues, Msc gives you a direction and makes you a specialist in defined and specific areas eg pollution control, geo environmental science, flood and erosion control, disaster management, Risk, environmental monitoring, environmental audit, GIS, Safety Environment and Health and even public health. Companies rarely need an environmental officer, but they do need an HSE officer, Compliance Officer, Risk officer, fire officer, GIS Expert, Sanitation manager, unsafe act/condition auditing expert.Going for certifications is also not a bad idea. On a personal note I do believe degrees are overrated in this country (I do have an Msc though), this is because nowadays employers place more interest on competence than papers. I hope this helps.
Thanks.

Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Will A Master's Degree Improve One's Employment Prospect? by Hyper85(m): 1:16pm On Jul 25, 2015
My guy, I ve got a masters degree with distinction, but it dint give me a job until I added Certifications and experience to it. Though I started very small even with my Msc. Having an Msc is not a waste actually especially if its in engineering, I know people who have made it with M.Eng and u can even have a lucrative career in academics with a gud M.Eng. However adding Certifications can be cheaper and can yield immediate dividends but its no guarantee (I have seen guys with Nebosh and Bosiet) with no job, and I don't even have both though I will by next year, my Msc gave me an edge. In summary, God alone guarantees job not degree or certifications. An Msc will come in handy in d future but u can get some certifications, and rewrite ur CV to best potray ur skills then distribute it online to recruitment firms like jobberman, joblink etc. I hope this helps

Politics / Re: FG Raises Alarm Over Dwindling Electricity Supply, Power Plants Shutdown by Hyper85(m): 11:19pm On May 22, 2015
Rowlandjude:
Abuja – The Federal Government on Friday in Abuja raised alarm over dwindling and epileptic electricity supply across the country.
The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Power, Mr Godknows Igali, made this known after a meeting with Vice-President Namadi Sambo to State House correspondents in Abuja.
Igali, and Prof. Chinedu Nebo, Minister of Power, had briefed Sambo on the state of power generation, transmission and distribution in the country.
\
He said the ongoing strike by Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) and the National Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas had further worsened the power supply situation.

The workers were protesting the transfer of the operatorship of the Oil Mining Lease (OML) 42 to two indigenous companies, claiming the move would affect the fortunes of NPDC and its staff.

“With the strike which has gone on for one or two days there is dramatic turn as of this afternoon we have gone down for the all time low to 1,327 megawatts.

“So, if you look at it from 4,800 there is dramatic turn, the loss is terrible,’’ Igali said.

He said as at 12 noon May 22, 2015, Utorogu, CHEVRON ORE DO, OB EN gas plants were all shutdown while UGHELI and CNL ESCRAVOS were already isolated.

He said, “on the eastern axis Shell Gas, ALAKIRI has also been shutdown. This has led to the several power plants being stranded and shutdown.

“This includes EGBIN, OLORUNSHOGO I & 11, OMOTOSHO 1& 11, GEREGU I & 11, IHONVOR and SAPELE (NIPP) on the western axis and ALAOJI on the eastern end.’’

According to him, besides, pipeline vandalism which has continued to have very negative impact on the power supply situation in the country, the ongoing strike by the labour unions in the oil and gas sector has added additional toll.

“The overall effect is that power supply which had started picking up steadily since the beginning of the week following repairs of various vandalised portions of the ELP Line and the Trans-Forcados Gas Pipelines, has fallen to all-time-unprecedented low of 1,327m was at 1.00 p.m. May22, 2015.

He, therefore, warned that “situation could get worse if the strike continues’’.
Igali expressed the hope that the ongoing discussion between the Federal Ministry of Petroleum Resources, the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation and, the labour unions, would end amicably.

“Indeed, it is hoped the labour unions will help restore supply of gas to the power plants even while negotiation are ongoing.’’(NAN)

azidomedogo: medicine after death will not help at this point,it will only make u feel sad haven discovered u choosed the wrong answer.A female friend of mine under goin NA dssc in enugu just confirmed the selection process as started in abuja and that she would also make the NAF list despite the fact she didnt participate in the whole naf exercise. This lady is 100% sure the NAF will shortlist her bcoz of her oga@d top and she being a NAF personnel and a corporal. So if you are still thinking of the exam and how you scored 50/50 pls pray hard coz oga @d top are on the move.If u are from" Imo state no long tin"God help us all.
My brother that is Naija for u, but I don't rule out God's hand in whatever I do, I still believe he has the final say, meanwhile we shud all prepare for the worst. Try other vacancies why we wait, do not put ur eggs in one basket. Whatever will be will be. God bless.

Omaobe: I don't care how some feel abt my ealier post. In fact, dey sud go and hug transformer. What I kno is dat if u don't av any 'oga at d top', no show for u. Don't let anyone raise ur hope unneccessarily wen u can sti run around.

I kno I av spoilt some pple's plans by waking many oda pple up on wot to do. Dis wi make d competitn to b stiffer which is better for us all.

Mind u, I depend solely on God and dat was why I metioned 'work and pray'. In dis case, ur 'work' is to b on d necks of 'ogas at d top' while u sti continue praying fervently. Remember, 'heaven helps dose who help demseves'.

Imagine, some wi come here later afta d whole process to share success story as if dey had done somtin beta dan odas not knowin dey were helped by som1. I'm a Nigerian and I kno d reality on ground and how tins work. I av exposed dem now and dat's why dey aint happy but I don't giv a Bleep.

U can sti insult me but i must let u kno dat wi make me to let pple kno even more.
Nobody is competing with you youngman and nobody is against anybody having an "OGA AT TOP". The truth is even if everybody has an OGA AT THE TOP, there is no way we all can be taking. Even with your 4 OGAs God still has the final say. It is not a do or die affair. No matter how bad we feel about Nigeria there is still room for pure merit even if it may be as low as 10%. Since you have already dismissed the possibility of merit for yourself, you should not discourage others who don't have OGAs AT THE TOP

Omaobe: The 'work and pray' motto makes things work. In NAF recruitment case, d 'work' aspect is to always b at d neck of one's 'oga at d top'. If no 'oga at d top', notin wi surely happen wit d 'pray' alone. All dis we're doing now are just formalities. In fact, if u kno som1 strong, u don't need to go tru all dese.

If u say u av faith, do u kno any1 who has been enlisted of recent witout knowing som1? Let som1 prove me wrong here.

Open ur eyes. Find one 'oga at d top' dat wi help u. Dont say u weren't told. I am praying, still having faith and I'm sti finding how to get more 'ogas at d top' afta avin four on ground for now.

Don't dull ursef. Odawise, u wi b dangerously disappointed. This is d reality my don't like to kno or here about. I'v said my own ooo.

Peace out!
Even if your contact is Mr President must you come and advertise it in public. Why don't you use your head and do what you have to do quietly, rather than behaving like a spoilt brat u are not

Though I completed my screening at lagos today I must say it came with a huge price, I was asked to do series of frog jump for coming late even though I arrived at 7:05am. This drilling coupled with sitting in the sun for almost 10hrs was not funny at all. At a point I almost left because the pains were becoming unbearable but I held on as a man I should be. I really do feel for Nigerian graduates and youths in general for what we are made to go through in our Nation. However I will like to wish everybody the very best and please if it doesn't work out its not the end of the world, nobody stays jobless forever as long as u are a graduate though it may take time, its not a do or die affair, always pray hard because God is key. Goodnight and have a sweet week ahead. Hyper signing out
