Hiyaa people, so we finally got our visas delivered to the Glory of God! The journey is really not for the faint hearted o. Being patient was very tough but this platform made it easier to bear. I’d like to share my time line cos every time I saw someone’s update here, it gave me hope and uplifted my spirit. So here goes, August 8th 2022 got pre-approval August 8th 2022 applied for a date for myself and child August 9th 2022 got email for Interview August 26th 2022 Interview date December 20th 2022 Lawyer came March 23rd 2023 Embassy sent me an email to provide the verification fee of #150k (this was not collected from me on the day of interview despite providing it) March 31st I submitted the verification fee May 2nd I sent them an email that it was over 8 months since our interview and we needed an update, and I also called (we had been calling and sending emails prior to this with no tangible answer or response to our emails) May 3rd I got an email stating that our verification is complete and they were waiting for the final decision from the alien authority May 4th my spouse sent an email to the state immigration office to inform them that the verification process has been completed (they had earlier sent him an email that they have our documents but waiting for the verification to be complete) May 8th my spouse was contacted to provide some documents June 4th my spouse submitted these documents June 14th got approval from foreign office June 15th sent an email to the German embassy to inform them of the approval June 20th got mail to submit our passports, travel insurance and travel date June 22nd submitted our passports and travel insurance July 11th got our passports and other documents delivered. Over 10 months wait after interview to get our visas, I didn’t see that coming. Super grateful to God it’s over now, packed and ready to go reunite with my boo! Big thanks to y’all giving information and sharing experiences. I sincerely wish everyone still waiting, a speedy process and successful application. |
I think you should start the process of changing your name on your passport. Since you already submitted newspaper publication, they will most likely ask for it. You'd need to do an affidavit too for the change of name. Also, the passport office might ask for the newspaper publication to process the change of name on your passport. FrauPosh: |
This can be so frustrating, the delay is obviously from the lawyer. Please just continue sending mails to the embassy that you still haven't been contacted by the lawyer, hopefully they'd reach out to the lawyer for you. But I don't think you can search for your lawyer yourself. I pray you get contacted soon. Babbbbbbbbby: |
I did not go with primary school certificate as I don't have it, but I went with an old document. Your spouse should go with an old document like baptismal card, baby vaccine card etc lmuhopeful: |
I only just found out that application with the pre-approval has a 3 weeks time line for only the primary applicant who is a skilled worker but for the family reunion it only gives an exemption from the long wait for an interview date. I tried reaching the embassy to no avail, I sent them a mail using the contact form but got no response, only for a lawyer to call last week for verification. I was surprised because verification fee wasn't collected from me so I wasn't expecting any lawyer. So I'm hoping there won't be another long wait after the verification since its already pre-approved. adeinfinit: |
No, visa hasn't been approved yet adeinfinit: |
You're welcome. Yes, you and one of your parents should go to the court to get this affidavit. Please go with yours and your parent's passport photo. And sorry, I do not have a copy at the moment. adeinfinit: |
Yes the highlighted document is necessary. And as far as I know, this list you posted are all the required documents for a family reunion interview. adeinfinit: |
I and my daughter applied using the Skilled Immigration act visa category. We went with the family reunion documents and also with the preapproval and power of attorney document, my husband's office got these documents for us. We had no issue at the embassy, though we are still awaiting visa approval. Codedboy95: |
Oh wow, I was lucky then cos I had my own family reunion visa interview on a Friday but with a preapproval. Could be I was allowed to have the interview because of the preapproval document. I hope they are able to sort this out for them quickly Corrosive123: |
I went last week and it was #32,000 for family reunion Ahmed4002: |

Hello house, please I'd like to know the experiences of people that has gone for interview at the German embassy with a minor. Are they in any way given preferential treatment? Given that no one is allowed to bring in bags, would a parent be allowed to bring in essentials for a minor, like water, snacks, diaper etc? |
pseudonomer:According to what I have read on this thread, the process is easier as you won't be needing the language certificate and verification might not be done too |
