I've been reading some threads, and it has become very apparent that many Nigerians are opposed to the idea of Nigeria having a female president It perplexes me because current (and previous male leaders) have failed do dig Nigeria out of the turmoil she has been in all this while. If it takes a female leader to restore Nigeria to her fightful glory, what is the problem? Why the opposition to our nation being lead by a female. Sometimes, to achieve what you have never achieved, you must do what you've never done. |
If you were to rank Nigerian celebrities from all fields (music, fashion, film, sport and even 'personalities'), who would make your top 10? |
There is this gold button-chain type adornment that our President wears. What is it called? What does it do? Who makes them?

Does anybody know ?? |

As crazyman said, and I agree, it is something that is more prolific in areas where illiteracy is high. |
@CrazyMan thanks. |
vorosmartm:What are these tactics? |
Who else? |
Why are pictures of non Nigerian WAGS being posted? We don't care about those oyinbos. |
CrazyMan: Of course in theory! But what I mean is the family accepting, they always seem to be against it and I have heard this in several instances. Why ![]() |
@Mobinga WoW! The fact that he can't stay in a state he governed says a lot indeed! So Abuja is the 'political haven' for these miscreants? Who's slaughter was he responsible for? |
chikeorji123:*Thumbs up* Right on my brother ![]() |
@Mens dept OK you've said "IBB duh" since it's so obvious list his malfeasances!! The point is not just to have a list of names, but a thread that details the corrupt activities of the miscreants identified. The more detail the better, I'm tired of hearing this and that person is corrupt, without detail of the corruption. If it's a looter let's have exact/approximate figures etc. ![]() |
Corruption has been the absolute hinderance to progress in Nigeria to date. Nigeria is a land rich natural resources, our nation should be an extremely wealthy nation, but due to corruption, mismanagement of funds and looting by politicians (polithevians) on all levels of governance, our nation has been left in tatters. Problems such as lack of constant electricity, poor roads, high levels of unemployment, rigged elections, diverting resources of state, collective greed, individual greed, dilapidated vehicles/machinery/buildings, poor infrastructures, incompetent police, bribery, bribing, crime, crookedness, demoralization, dishonesty, exploitation, extortion, fiddling, fraud, fraudulency, graft, jobbery, malfeasance, misrepresentation, nepotism, payoff, payola, profiteering, racket, shadiness, shady deals, shuffle, skimming, unscrupulousness and venality are just some of the issues our nation faces as a result of people who are in power misusing their position/power (blatant jobbery) at our expense. Most people in power are already corrupt, with a good leader we can move our beloved nation forward. Let's unravel who those have been stakeholders in derailing Nigeria. State the name of the politician, the position held, and their role and how they've excercised corruption. |
i ask because it is something my friend brought to my attention, an Igbo guy was dating a Yoruba girl but his family were against them marrying. This would not be the first time I have heard of such. Tribalism is very real |
I wonder, because I know Igbos are very particular about their culture and heritage. What is it that they have against Yorubas when it comes to matrimony? |
VICTOR OBINNA ![]() |
It is we Nigerians that perpetuate the stereotypes of our country we are the first to complain, listing all the problems our nation has. What can be done to improve Nigeria? All ideas welcome. (This is to be a constructive thread, let's keep it positive) ![]() |
@Bermuda what is the basis of your reply? |
I wonder how possible it would be to have a female president in Nigeria ![]() |
Hello fellow Nairalanders, I would like this to be a cohesive thread. Basically whether you are Yoruba, Igbo, Hausa or any other Nigerian tribe Please post a proverb. The proverb should be posted in your native language and translated. E.g. Meta, merin lore dun mo. Ore ayanju ni mu ni yan eke. 3 or 4 friends are good enough. Any more than that, and one will be bad. (Yoruba) Egbe bere, ugo bere. Nke si ebeya ebela, nkuu kwaa kwa ya. Let the kite hawk have a perch, and also the eagle have a perch. Whichever begrudges the other the right to perch may he break a wing. (Igbo) A buggi karfe da saura'n zafe, in ya fuche sai a wahalla. Strike while the iron is hot, you will suffer if you allow it to get cold. (Hausa) |
So just Eminem, Game and R.Kelly? |
Indeed, one day their salaries will be on par with EPL wages ![]() And NPL will be able to buy in world class players! |
Some evidence, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WANsOyI9QFA&feature=player_embedded#! And, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f_90ov_0SIY&NR=1 Bon apetite! Lol

Thanks Ileke Idi, So when you say introduction do you mean it is at the introduction/engagement ceremony that both families are only just meeting themselves for the first time? And this proposal letter? marry the bride? Wow! How long are engagement lists Why would theyrequest a suitcase of clothes for the bride? What happens if the groom cannot produce some of the items on the list? Why do the family of the bride even make requests of the groom? |
In western culture there is the engagement and the wedding then the honeymoon. From what I have understood in Nigerian Culture there is an engagement a 'traditional' ceremony, then a church wedding right? I want to understand the essence of the traditional wedding, and how does the dowry/brideprice work? Can anyone explain?

Premier League Players Hit Cash Jackpot Nigeria Premier League players are beginning to hit the mega bucks contrary to hisses and frowns that had hitherto characterised the domestic top flight players remunerations. The new leadership of the NPL under Davidson Owumi has hinged its priority on welfare of players and Complete Sports finding has revealed that some clubs are already paying as much as N200,000 to their players as monthly salary. With the 2010/2011 season billed to start this weekend across the country, our close watch on the clubs especially as it affects players monthly take home reveal that Lobi Stars of Makurdi tops the chart of high paying teams. The 1999 League Champions have abolished payment of sign on fees and have consequently jacked up the players salaries. The first category of players earn N200,000 as monthly salary while the second category earn N150,000 bringing to N2.4m and N1.8m respectively as players earning in the season. Heartland of Owerri also comes under this category with players going home with N.2m salary, like in Lobi stars, Heartland of Owerri falls within the category of high paying sides. The first category of the Naze Millionaires players smile home with N200,000 monthly. Enyimba of Aba which prides itself as the Peoples Elephant rank second among teams with high remuneration index for their players. The two-time African Champions pay up to N150,000 to their category A players. Kaduna United, at present pay up to N120,000 and plans to increase it to N150,000 come January 2011. Sharks of Port Harcourt ranks next in the grade. They pay N100,000 to their category A players while Rangers players receive N65,000 as monthly salary. Kano Pillars category A players earn N100,000 monthly. Can these salaries give these players the type of opulent lifestyle that mirrors that of players in the EPL?
