While Nigerians are embracing the results of the General elections: GEJ in 4 years never jailed a single person for corruption. List the most corrupt members of GEJ's Govt that you would have probed by EFCC, probed or jailed to make an example of, to the the incoming cabinet.

Mine would be:

1. Petroleum Minister Mrs D. Alison-Madueke

2. Aviation Minister (Former) Stella Oduah

3. Namdi Sambo, VP residence inflation saga

4. Anenih, NPA chairman

5. Farouk Lawan

Family / Fiancé Family by Ialwaysask: 6:18pm On Jun 24, 2013
I am engaged to a really nice man but I'm thinking of calling off the engagement because I hate his family. He's from one of the prominent rich families in Lagos and they are of the worst breed. They are controlling, they don't mind their business, they tell their children what to do, they make their decisions for them and their matriarch is the opinion of the family. Nobody dares question her decisions or argues with her. My fiance's sister told me I have to quit my job after I marry into their family. My future mother-in-law has summoned my father to her home on several occasions, asking him the most belittling questions. She even had their family doctor examine me, and the doctor asked me how many men I've been with in the past and if I've ever had an abortion. Duh! They question every thing you do, even the clothes you wear. I'm not yet married into this family and I'm already having panic attacks. I really love this guy but I don't think I can deal with his family. They plan to completely clip my wings once I marry their son and I don't think that's the life I want. Should I walk away or is there a way to handle such a family if I go ahead with the wedding? Please advise.

Family / Wife Vs Sister. Advice Please. by Ialwaysask: 11:03pm On Jun 02, 2013
Nairalanders how would you advise this man?

My younger sister has been living with me since I became independent and moved to Lagos to start a new life. That was eight years ago. I got married three years ago and my wife moved in with us and since then I have known no peace. They are constantly quarreling, making accusations, and have even exchanged blows a few times.
My wife packed out of the house in April with our two small children and said she would not return until my sister leaves the house. I can't send my sister packing because I am the only relative she has in Lagos and she just finished her university education and looking for a job. Asking her to leave means asking her to go back to Owerri where our parents stay and that's not what she wants at this time. I can't afford to get her her own place but I want my wife to return home. What do I do?
TV/Movies / Real House Wives Of Lagos??? by Ialwaysask: 5:14pm On May 29, 2013
According to inside sources, NBCUniversal owners of the popular America docu-reality series; the Real Housewives Franchise is partnering with a Nigerian organisation to produce a version of the show for the African audience. The new show will be called the Real Housewives of Lagos and will cover the lifestyle of 5 – 8 different women resident in Lagos.

These women must fit a certain profile; aged between 30 and 50, extremely wealthy - married into money, inherited a fortune through her family, or just self-made millionaires - they could be married, divorced or single. They will also grant an all-access pass to their lives: their families, friendships, careers and homes.

While there are so many women in Lagos who fit this bill, it would be interesting to see the ones who get selected to star in this show and the ones who accept.

Who would you select, or who are you expecting to see on the show?

Nairaland / General / Ever Wonder HOW The Rich Get Richer And The Poor Stay Broke? by Ialwaysask: 12:19am On Nov 16, 2012
The key to wealth of course is saving, investing etc etc but it's hard to do if you have no money. It's easier to save when you already have money the tricky part is getting that money.

Some would say it's really pretty simple. If you want to end up better off financially then LIVE BELOW YOUR MEANS. Not at your means, not above your means, BELOW your means. Whether you make N20K, N200K or N20 million, anyone can save, you just have to differentiate between WANTS and NEEDS. Your housing should never be more than 30% of your income, your needs should never be more than 50% (that includes housing). If you are above those numbers than re-evaluate things. Yes, many of the rich are born into it and are lucky for that, but people who aren't as well off can live better if they take the time to look at their finances (in some cases).

kunlekunle: the first creator of the wealth (father) might not reveal the secret to the son, hence the wealth dies with him.
so we dont have generational wealthy lineage.

A son need not rely on his father to reveal any 'great secret'

iniobong888: i can make more than N500,000 from N40,000 , this is the game plan , i stay in an agrarian community where farming is the occupation of the day and i"m trusted , i get this women and sign a deal with them to give me their produce(agric product)on trust, let say sweet potatoes i get say 200 bags from them at the rate of 4,000 each , sign up a deal with a trailer driver leaving the north back to lagos to pack immediately i sell, on getting to lagos i sell with N4,000 profit on each bag and pay up the the women and the trailer driver that will leave with about N450,000 TO N400,000 make this trip twice in a month and i have covered more that N500,000. this is doable.

Have you done this yourself?

222Martins: That's more than three hundred percent in less than two months. Well, for me, i'll simply dig a hole and bury the money so it will grow into a tree or better still, throw the money into the ocean and wait for it to return with a shipload of money. Get a life bro, stop searching for the fool's gold. Go and learn a skill or handicraft and get to work.

How do fish farmers maintain clean/fresh water supply. A problem highlighted to me was that many of the fish are not healthy because they are overcrowded and they begin to eat their own excrement which in time deteriorates the health of the fish.
Business / Re: Why Do Businesses Fail In Nigeria? by Ialwaysask: 10:08pm On Nov 08, 2012
OP this is a very valid question. From what I've seen many business in Nigeria face problems with logistics, this tends to be problematic when doing business in Nigeria. E.g. bad roads and lack of constant power supply.

There is certainly enough populace for ANY type of business to thrive.

Romance / Re: How Much Did You Spend On Your Wedding? by Ialwaysask: 8:41pm On Jan 04, 2012
As it has been said how much you spend depends on you.

The first expenses would be for the introduction/engagement ceremony.

WEDDING Costs/expenses to factor:

-Engagement ring/ wedding bands

-Cost of designing/making/sending out invites.

-Bridal gown (shoes&Bag/ accessories)
-Bridal make-up
-Manicure/Pedicule
-Bridesmaids dresses

-Groom's Suit
-Groomsmen suit's
-Pageboys suits
-Ringbearer's outfit

-Venue
-Decoration (plus hiring tables and chairs)
-Catering
-Beverages (alcoholic drinks increase costs substantially)

-Entertainment (DJ/Live band/MC)

-Cameraman
-Videographer

-Gifts for guests, such as keyrings, notepads, cups etc,

By the time you factored the costs for the aforementioned you should be able to see your rough expenditure.
