A spokesperson for the Peoples Democratic Party’s Atiku-Okowa Presidential Campaign in 2023, Senator Dino Melaye, has noted the PDP has no position to offer former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani-Kayode, in the party’s campaign team.

Melaye made this known in a statement on his verified Facebook page Sunday night, describing the former minister as a “political scavenger”.

He said, “My attention has just been drawn to a statement issued by Femi Fani-Kayode, which as usual, was an incoherent gibberish produced from his temporary relief from insanity. How can one explain his momentary consciousness to react to an interview long granted, if not that his world of reality is not in sync with the world of sound minds? His comment was at best a mixture of prevarication, lack of comprehension and a voyage in meddlesomeness and idleness.

“Truly, an idle hand and heart like that of FFK is the devil’s residence. Ordinarily, his rambling would have been ignored, but in this age of unrestricted access to the media even by unwholesome minds, care must be taken to put issues in the right context and perspective. The roller-coaster FFK is merely seeking to receive attention, having employed all forms of ingratiation to be recruited by the Presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, but failed.”

Melaye noted that Fani-Kayode had contacted Timi Frank in a bid to lobby for a position in the Atiku-Okowa campaign team.

“To be sure, he contacted Timi Frank to help lobby for a job in the Campaign Directorate, but where is the record to help his desire? As a serial hustler around food dispensers, FFK’s misadventure into the issue of the leadership of the PDP is nothing but a subtle campaign to be noticed and rewarded by prospective paymasters.

“Nigerians cannot forget in a hurry how FFK bootlicked and cajoled Yahaya Bello during his presidential experiment, but later jumped to the presidential train of Senator Ahmed Lawan in the throes of the presidential primary election of the All Progressives Congress in an unabashed and unconscionable manner. Now that campaign structures have been formed by parties and he’s sidelined, having lost face everywhere, he has found the PDP as the access card to his next meal,” he said.

Melaye noted that Iyorchia Ayu, was supported by PDP governors and members of the party, and hence, emerged the PDP’s National Working Committee’s Chairman by consensus, due to his reputation and political profile.

He added, “Is FFK so obtuse that he can not understand that delegates could not have trekked from everywhere to Abuja without being transported? Has he not recovered well enough from the doses administered during his rehabilitation to understand that governors and other leaders supported delegates from all states to the National Convention? Is he equating the sound mind of Judges with his own reprobate mind that he’s threatening to go to court over a matter that he has neither locus nor a reasonable cause?

“Often when the issue of FFK comes up, I easily call to mind the time-standing analysis by ex-president Olusegun Obasanjo, of his personality, and the assertion that food is FFK’s price. His likes are appropriately described in Philippians 3:19, as belonging to the class of those ‘whose god is their belly, and whose glory is their shame. Sorry, PDP has no food for the lazy. And knowing FFK’s reputation for political scavenging, let me also ask him the unanswered question. FFK, who bankrolled your statement?”.

Nigerians angrily condemned Tinubu's inability to provide common primary and secondary school details, certificates, names, teachers or schoolmates. These are the most basic requirements which shouldn't take anyone time to provide. They describe Tinubu as a first class scammer whose life epitomizes crimes and frauds. What is difficult in providing required details of primary school and following laid procedures? How can a reasonable person support such a person?
Nigeria does not need a person with a dangerous and questionable character at this point in time. Tinubu's records are dangerously red.
Even though Tinubu's health is a big no no, his drug peddling businesses, weighty corruption cases have made his candidacy a mockery of Nigeria. The international communities are questioning the sensibility of Nigerians who have given APC ticket to dying man with heavy corruption cases like Tinubu. Are we joking with our destiny or what?

Omoyele Sowore, presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC) , says Peter Obi, flagbearer of Labour Party (LP), is not the “right candidate” for presidency.
Sowore spoke on Friday in an interview on Channels Television.

The candidacy of Obi, a former Anambra governor, is currently witnessing growing support, especially on social media.

On several occasions, supporters of Obi, better known as ‘Obidents’, have clashed with some Nigerians, including Sowore, who have expressed divergent views on social media.

Speaking on what he thinks of Obi’s candidacy, Sowore said the former governor is part of the “old system” that he has always criticised.

The AAC presidential candidate said Obi is not his kind of “progressive” politician, while claiming that the LP candidate did not execute any project during his tenure as Anambra governor.

“Why would I see Peter Obi as a threat? Peter Obi is part of the old system that I have always fought,” he said.

“I understand where he is coming from. This is 1999 repeated; Nigeria wants change. Some young people who are genuinely interested in change are presented with somebody who works for the establishment; someone who was in PDP, APGA, came back to PDP and then LP. He is not new to a rotten system — somebody who spent eight years as governor of a state.

“You can be emotional about it but that is the truth. He did not build any school, industry and power station. He is not my kind of progressive.

“Anybody who has been in government for eight years that has nothing to show for it is not my right candidate for Nigeria.”

Asked why he is being perceived as “harsh” towards Obi’s supporters, Sowore said he only spoke against the harassment of people who are not supporting the LP candidate.

“My first intervention that was considered harsh was Reno Omokri — someone who has done everything in this world to lie against me. But when it comes to his fundamental rights, and he has a one-year-old daughter who he said was genuinely threatened, I came in and said ‘this is wrong; we shouldn’t be threatening a one-year-old girl. Nobody shouldn’t be threatened’.”

The effort to replace the late traditional ruler of Afara Ukwu autonomous community, in Umuahia North council area of Abia state, Eze Israel Okwu Kanu, is threatening to tear the community apart as three persons are laying claim to the stool.

Late Eze Kanu is the father of the Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.

Three sons of the community, Chief Amaechi Ugweje, Sir Chukwuemeka Nwaobiala and Anthony Chukwukwadoro Ndulaka, are laying claims as the Eze-elect of the community.
The matter is now a subject of litigation.
An Abia State High court sitting at Umuahia , presided over by Justice Ogbonna Adiele, has restrained Abia State Government from issuing staff of office to either of Chief Amaechi Ugweje or Anthony Chikwadoro Ndulaka. Nwaobiala had filed the suit challenging the claims of Ugweje and Ndulaka to the stool. He insists that he is the Eze-elect of the community and should be recognized as such.

In suit No: HU/168M/2022, between Sir Chukwuemeka Nwaobiala(claimant/applicant) and Abia state government , Ministry of LG and chieftaincy Affairs, Attorney General of Abia state, Umuahia North LGA, Chief Amaechi Ugweje and Anthony Chikwadoro Ndulaka as,(Defendants/Respondents); Justice Adiele ordered the Abia State Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs from presenting either Ugwueje or Ndulaka to the state government for recognition as traditional ruler, pending the hearing and determination of the motion on notice.

“It is hereby ordered that the second defendant be and is hereby restrained from presenting either the 5th or 6th defendants to the 1st defendant for crowning or installing or giving of staff of office or recognizing either of them as Egwu Ukwu of Afaraukwu Ibeku in Umuahia, Abia state, pending the hearing and determination of the motion on notice for interlocutory injunction,” the order read.

In an interview with journalists in Umuahia, Nwaobiala, said his desire to contribute to the development of his community led him to join in the race for the kingship of Afaraukwu autonomous community.

He explained that he participated in the screening exercise which was announced by the traditional prime minister of the community, Chief Chimechefulam Odoemela and also participated in an electoral process that took place in February 2022.

Stressing that he was elected as Eze elect at Union primary school, Umuahia, which was witnessed by the traditional prime minister, Eze in Council, and other members of the community; Nwaobiala alleged that Ugwueje and Ndulaka later started laying claims that it is their turn to produce the late Eze Kanu’s successor.

He stated the constitution of the community only excludes the kindred where the last Eze came from producing his successor.

“Except Etiti Nabu where the late Eze hails from, other kindreds in the community; Ndagbo, Mgboko and Umuobasi , are entitled to contest in the election of the next Eze. In the case of Chief Amaechi Ugweje, Sir Nwaobiala said the Afaraukwu constitution does not permit an indigene based overseas to be installed as the Eze of the community,” he said.

He accused Ugweje and Ndulaka of not passing through the electoral process, wondering why they are parading themselves as Ezes-elect. Nwaobiala insists that he enjoys the support of the cabinet members of the late Eze for the position.

He urged the state government to support the effort of the community to entrench peace by ensuring transparency in the process of electing a new Eze through recognizing a candidate that has the decorum and honor as the next Eze of the community.

A man, Peter Orji, has allegedly killed his elder brother, Godwin, during an argument bordering on the payment of N1,500 electrical bill at their residence in Uruagu, in the Nnewi North Local Government Area of Anambra State.

PUNCH Metro gathered that the brothers were at home when they started arguing over Peter’s refusal to pay N1,500 for his monthly electrical bill on Tuesday.

As a measure to get him to pay the money, it was learnt that power supply into Peter’s flat in the house was disconnected.

A source in the community said Peter, who was angered by the development, stormed into his flat, brought out a gun and allegedly shot his brother to death.

After perpetrating the crime, the suspect reportedly rushed to the nearest police station and surrendered himself to the police to avoid being lynched by angry mob.

Confirming the incident, the state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, however, said the suspect was arrested contrary to claims that he willingly surrendered himself to the police.

Ikenga said the wife of the suspect was first arrested at the crime scene, adding that the couple were currently in police custody.
Ikenga said the state Commissioner of Police, Echeng Echeng, had ordered that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for discreet investigation.

Mr Ogar Osim, Chairman of Labour Party (LP) in Cross River, has cautioned supporters and party faithful not to be violent or spread hate speech while promoting the party’s presidential candidate, Mr Peter Obi.

Osim gave the advice on Thursday while speaking with newsmen in Calabar on the best way party supporters should conduct themselves in support the party.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the advice was important as the party prepared to welcome Obi to inaugurate its secretariat donated by one of its senatorial candidates, Mr Daniel Asuquo.

The inauguration of the new party’s secretariat in Calabar coincides with the 2 million-man march for Obi in Cross River.

He stated that the party’s presidential candidate was not difficult to introduce or market because of his well known antecedents.

“As supporters of our great party, you don’t need to be unruly; we are obedient supporters of a very marketable candidate of a fast growing political party in Africa.

“We do not have any need to abuse any one, spread hate speech or even incite people against the other.

“Our principal is well educated and the several schools he attended are traceable and verifiable, he has impeccable credentials both in education, business and leadership, so it is not difficult at all to present him for election,” he noted.

He said it was important for everyone to be conversant with the party’s logo even in the rural areas, which was a family, representing the father mother and children.

He added that the enlightenment was important because Nigerians knew Obi but many didn’t know the LP logo, So they must begin now to educate the people about their logo.
