Politics / Re: Nigeria Finally Resumes Industrial Commercial Coal Mining by iammodel(m): 7:32pm On May 24, 2012
mobbi_06: In my opinion this offers a very solid solution to Nigeria's energy problems. we are all talking about natural gas but what we do not realize is that focusing our attention on natural gas creates a path dependence which will be difficult to overcome in the long run,thus reducing our options and ability to respond to market risks and volatility.
Similarly, by focusing on natural gas only, we are inadvertently creating an undiversified energy sector and given that natural gas prices and supply tends to follow that of oil, and that electricity is characterized by volatility, we will be exposing ourselves to price shocks and supply disruptions; the increasing the volatility in the system.
As someone rightly pointed out, Nigeria's carbon footprint is inconsequential when compared to other countries like the US, UK, China, and even Germany so in my opinion we can afford a coal plant or two. This is even more important when we consider the fact that coal offers cheap affordable electricity, and the retrofits (like filters, scrubbers, flue-beds) that can help reduce the Nitrous, sulphur and mercury pollutants that coal generates.
Also, there are unconventional technologies like the Integrated Gasification Combined cycle (IGCC) which turns coal into gas by synthesis (Syngas), removes the impurities, and allows the combustion of clean natural gas obtained from the coal.
Nigeria as a signatory to the Kyoto protocol can take advantage of the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) program, that is available to developing countries who are part of the Kyoto protocol, to bring such unconventional coal tehnologies to the country.
If we have the property strategy and regulatory approach, we can make it work...

Career / Re: Work Experience Or Further Study. by iammodel(m): 8:02pm On May 18, 2012
Thanks guys for this eye-opener.This has been my debate with some of my colleagues since our final year on campus. I have always be of the opinion of work after graduation while most of my colleagues prefer further studies with the hope of hitting it big afta dat. All thanks to GOD dat i graduated last year & made a second class upper. So i was hoping to work at least before going for service & if it happens that i find a gud job & d employer willing to accept me during my service year i wouldn't mind. But all dat efforts were futile,as one of my cousines even adviced me to relax & look 4ward to furthering my studies after my service. Though, i boycotted his advice and made some contacts personally, i was also adviced to go for service first. So i've been idle ever since. I'll be making june/july nysc batch & still hope to continue in my job hunt. Further studies can wait till further notice...

Pls be happy. What makes you think he wouldn't have divorce you too? Try and forgive him for your own sake, because he doesn't deserve that space in your heart. If you keep having him there you may scare another Mr. Right away. You made a mistake by not chosing right, but i'll advice you don't dwell on it. Free your mind and live your life. The good has to go sometimes for the best to come.

Reminds me of a situation i've bin into, I've always bin admired by pretty girls and some even want intimacy which i dnt give in to, At a time i noticed i was in deep luv wit dis particular girl which i tried to make her understand but she never wanted anything oda dan frndship. I tried to convince for more dan a year all to no avail. I foundout she doesn't care abt me as much as i do, but then i never stopped loving her. Even wen am dating someone else now, i still love and think abt her more cos i feel she's the one i shuld be with. Since she's not interested, i have no choice dan to let her be. Though i still call her, but dnt bother her abt relationship no more-she neida call nor text except on my bday,

Culture / Re: Why do Nigerian Women Bear Their Father's Name, After Marriage? by iammodel(m): 9:02pm On Nov 17, 2009
@poster
ur question is very very wrong becos it says "nigerian women". Almost all nigerian women bear deir husband's surname. I think ur concern shud be why dese women u named added deir fathers' name to deir names. Also, comparing dese Nigerian women to their U.S of A counterpart is wrong cos they are from diff countries nd tribe,so they have diff traditions nd beliefs. Anyways,if the husband is not complaining i wonder why anybody shuld. If my prospective wife wants 2bear her father's name then ll i be bothered. I think this is a personal issue rather dan national,
