DaveHert: Don't be a smart ass. Obviously the fact that it's running Android one is a major plus on battery optimization as there's basically no other skin processes constantly running as those of third party manufacturers skin OS. That's not my point!
First of all it takes longer for a fully charged phone to fall from 100% to 99% than it takes for that same phone to fall from 99% to 98%. This is especially true for new phones that still have their complete battery cells intact... This is especially true for a new Nokia X5. I can't brag of it still doing that now that I have used the phone for several months. You have never owned a brand new Nokia X5 and coming to counter me with the idea that u have friends that use the phone is still a baseless counter as their's is most likely not in its 'brand new' state. And the fact that u have friends that use the phone does not give u the same insight as someone who owns the damn phone. Or have u been closely monitoring the battery drainage from the time of purchase?
And for someone who wants to fill the role of a so called 'educated' person, are u under the impression that battery drainage is done in a constant time ratio? That if it takes 30mins for 1% to drop it will continue in that constant order until you run out of battery? The first 10% and last 10%% of a new battery is the hardest to drain, and that factor aside, battery drainage is not done in a constant ratio, depending on the phones usage and processing activities the drainage of a phone or any device actually fluctuates.
I may have exaggerated on some factors to a minor degree to drive home a point... Not to be countered by some so called 'educated' smart ass that can't decipher an intended point and be quiet about it. . The reason I was particular of it dropping 1% under 1hr 15 minutes is because you made no mention of what happens afterwards, so anyone may reach a wrong conclusion that it follows that trend continously. Even as good as this phone is. people praise the battery that it lasts well for a 3060 mah phone, but your exaggeration is excessive Biko. I have read reviews under trusted platforms, real life usages from friends etc. I have sufficient reason to make a judgement on your exaggerated review. Haba. it is one thing to praise and another to exaggerate its worth |

Phones › Re: Between The Nokia X5 And Samsung's A20 by iamNegro(m): 9:54am On Aug 10, 2019 |
DaveHert: Let me requote a post I posted on another thread!
I was going to walk away after reading ur comment but there is something u said that really, really pisses me off.
Am not sure what u r basing ur comment on but if I had the option of rebuying a phone, it would still be the Nokia X5. Why?
Battery: contrary to what u stated above, the Nokia X5's battery is the most optimized battery usage in all the phones I have ever used (Samsung Galaxy S4, S5, S6 Edge and Galaxy J6 plus), I have never used a Xiaomi, Tecno or an Infinix phone but a few people I know do and from their observed usage, i can tell u I haven't met anyone whose phones battery seems better optimized than the X5.
Let me explain, let's say I charge my phone to 100% and just want to watch movies all day, it takes approximately 1hr 15mins for my battery to drop to 99% and I can watch movies all day from 8am to 7pm and I'll still have around 60% battery left, mind u both WiFi and data are turned off. .
On a normal days usage of surfing the net, chatting and moderate gaming on the go, I still end up with between 30% to 50% juice left by the time I get home around 8pm, to be honest, my X5 has never seen 30% battery since I got it two months ago. Like I said, never have I used a phone with such well optimized battery.
Processor: I think this is where the X5 makes a home run. The X5 is easily the fastest phone I have used and I can proudly say my X5 has never hanged or temporarily slowed down on me, not even once. It can handle pretty much everything you throw at it and still have room to spare. Opening, closing and multitasking between apps has never been this fast for me, now I am starting to believe Samsung might have lost a loyal customer in me, not even the Galaxy S10 interests me anymore
Design: Another home run for the X5. The phones design is simply a thing of beauty, it's so nicely designed that it's always pulling in admirers when ever I pull it out to use in public. Even though I think the notch could have been just a little smaller, it still gives the phone an aesthetic appeal that resembles that of an iPhone, especially when using apps with full white backgrounds, like Instagram and reading in your browser, it never fails to appeal to onlookers. So far 3 people I know have gotten this phone just from seeing it once in my hands and 2 others are planning on buying it as soon as it gets restocked. The only issue is that the phone looks so good that after trying on a pouch and screen guard and seeing how ugly it was in comparison to the phones design, I dumped both and have been using the phone like that... Yeah as u can guess, some bitch I gave the phone to admire let it slip off her hand and cracked my outer screen slightly. Well I'll have to order a replacement from AliExpress, and it's quite cheap.
Network Support: Although I initially had my reservations about buying a phone that seemed to support fewer LTE bands than it should, I still went ahead with getting this phone because the pros seemed to outweigh the cons, and I am so glad I did, so far it supports every networks 4G I had hoped it did, with exception to Glo's 4G, mine supports Airtel 4G, Etisalat 4G, Ntel 4G and surprisingly MTN 4G also works. I have no issue with it not supporting Glo's 4G as even the Glo's H+ speed is good enough to not be crazy about its 4G, in my area that is. So unless u r strictly on Glo's bandwagon, then don't make this a factor for not getting the phone.
Speaker & Charging: The phones speaker is surprisingly louder than I had anticipated, louder than all my previous phones. It's surprising because it only has one speaker outlet and yet it's quite loud, which is quite a bonus. Although the X5 does not support fast charging on paper, it does charge fast enough for me, I usually get my phone fully charged in less than an hour, mind u it's never flat, maybe from 33% to 100% in under an hour. So that's a plus.
Affordability: Getting a phone with this good a spec and aesthetic design that can make an onlooker drool over your phone at such a cheap cost is pretty much a dream come true. It never fails to impress me when someone asks me what phone am using and i say Nokia, Lol... u need to see the suprise and sometimes shock that appears on their faces. Samsung would charge u a 100+ for that, and this is coming from a Samsung loyalist. Enough said.
Issue: The only issue I can honestly point out that pisses me off on a regular basis is Android PIE, it has a fu*ked up ram management optimization, I can't even leave my apps running in the background without pie dropping the axe on them, it even kills 3rd party download managers downloading in the background once u leave it and some other app all running and go do something like say check you instagram.. Pie fu*ks u over of course i love all the features that comes with Pie, but ram management is so not one of them. But that can always be fixed in an update.
To sum it all up, if I had to rebuy a phone... You can bet it would still be the Nokia X5.
So saying the phone is not worth it when u neither own or use one is an insult to others using it, I personally find that to be quite insulting as I believe the phone is worth more than I got it for. The battery reduction is really comical. Not even the most optimized phone with better soc, running Android one can optimize battery that way. 1hr15 min for 1% to drop 8am to 7pm for 40% loss. We are not uneducated here. It is one thing to praise the battery optimization for the mah it comes with but that above is a very extreme exaggeration. I have friends who use the Nokia X5 and yes the phone is impressive, but the battery power is really exaggerated above. |

Jidibia: Hyping what? Try lay your hands on Umidigi A5 pro and compare with your rn7 camera if at all you even own one, then come back and tell me if I am hyping A5 pro or not. You are right in your observation that the Redmi note 7 stock camera is not great. The selfie camera is ok and the rear camera is good. A5 pro is not a competition. The use of GCAM by Redmi users is not because the camera is horrendous as gcam is used even by flagship phones. They have Gcam ports for flagship and this is used by people. That is to correct the wrong notion you have. The Redmi note 7 Gcam is better than most mid-range phones that applies can run the Gcam for its price range. The Gcam is only a software that amplifies the hardware the Redmi note 7 stock camera comes with. what I am saying is that most mid-range phones will not be able to turn out such output even if Gcam is used. The Gcam only used the 8mp of the Redmi note 7. |
Phones › Re: Best Among Samsung Galaxy A30 And Redmi Note 7 by iamNegro(m): 8:08pm On Aug 08, 2019 |
Jake420: I mentioned ir blaster, you won't pay when using warranty, the a30 has a better design and isn't using glass back (that's subjective though) Better camera and cpu understandable but everything you said seemed pretty biased to me. The rn7 uses a hybrid sim and doesn't come with earphones in box so more things to buy. The ads can be stopped but i think a phone with no ads to begin with is better as it could be a hassle for someone to stop the ads even if it's two minutes it all depends on the person. Tweakable aspect depends on who's tweaking. Replacement of parts would be easier for the a30 due to the availability and no xiaomi phones don't have better resale value than Samsung unless you're talking about American used and stuff like that but note 8 of 2018 is still selling up to 150k on normal market (not nl market which is a blessing) and 120 on jiji. In a year no one will even buy the k20 for that same price people will be selling it 90k because most nigerians don't even know xiaomi and doesn't have a great brand name as Samsung so less resale value and no the rn7 doesn't charge faster the 15w adaptive fast charging > 18w fast charging the s10+ of 4100 15w adaptive charging fills in 1h33 compared to 1h48 on 18w qc charging and the rn7 comes with 10w charger in box so more to buy again. Also if you want more memory you'll have to use only one sim. Again that better design is subjective as the a30 design is better for me and that corning gorilla glass 5 back is still breakable as you've seen when people are selling cracked back phone. So the redmi beats it in CPU and camera but you can't deny the a30 is better in everything as i wrote here and throughout the post. Please take your time and review my comments and make your own comment if you'd like I'm open to opinions and constructive criticism so thank you and be blessed. Also brand name is a thing and better warranty as the shops are more available so if his phone was to have a problem in a very rural area there's a higher chance of finding a Samsung office than a xiaomi one which is a very great factor in choosing a phone. And buy 900 hybrid adapter from nairaland then pay 2k waybill thats about 3k just to be able to use a memory card on the phone Honestly you are the bias one. You just said the Corning gorrilla glass 5 is just aesthetic which is totally wrong. in your analysis of fast charging, you tabled the S10+ which is utterly wrong. The analysis here is between the A30 and Redmi note 7 The Redmi note 7 charges faster than the A30, though it comes with 5v 2A charger. The fast charger is affordable everywhere. The purchase of the Hybrid sim extender is easily accessible as Xiaomi have service centers in many parts of the country. let us follow your logic and say this hybrid sim extender is not easily accessible. waybill cost of 2k+ is too horrendous. please tone it down a bit. Brand name is a thing which i agree, and yes xiaomi have that but not in this country as it just moved in recently. you can check the sales record of Xiaomi worldwide. Xiaomi took over market share from Samsung in India and Western Europe. That point is void. Warranty is as useless as shit in Nigeria. The Xiaomi parts are cheaper. These parts are available in their service centers across Nigeria. At worst case, it can even be shipped from AliExpress. the phone is really durable, so it hardly develops any major fault. Honestly the A30 is not an opponent. just the Amoled. nothing else and this I agree with and also the one ui software, then I have told you the gain of the miui which is why tech savvy people really value the phone and also anyone can learn. I forgot to include far better audio output. The Dolby Atmos can also be flashed and used in it. This is not even a comparison. Bring a better model. I guess this is where I will stop cus all we will be doing will be going back and forth. jake420. I do not see any reason to continue with this. Have a great day |
Phones › Re: Best Among Samsung Galaxy A30 And Redmi Note 7 by iamNegro(m): 9:28am On Aug 08, 2019 |
Jake420: Wikipedia said the a30 has water resistance. So not sure about that but Better ui-Samsung Better brand name-Samsung Better warranty -Samsung as there are even Samsung shops in bush. Battery -equal Better interface -samsung(no ads unlike rn7) Better camera -in paper rn7 but you will have to see shots for yourself and compare after all Samsung 12mp s10+ has beaten every 48mp xiaomi camera to the point idec about new 64mp in the works. Better apps-Samsung has galaxy store has a lot of options not to mention more vr apps with the gear vr. Display - Samsung. (super amoled is far greater than ips lcd) Performance -rn7 with sd660 although the exynos would be able to play every game a sd660 can equally the sd660 has better CPU and gpu which really won't differ from the Samsung in real time performance. Connectivity - i think Samsung has more bands.
So that's the facts make your choice before someone comes say take rn7 the phone too sweet die without giving reason or the same for a30 Jake420 Your analysis is bias and tilted to one side. The only area the A30 is better than the Redmi note 7 is just the area of Amoled which isn't even that great as it filled a HD+ not even fhd. The battery should be tadbit better because of the Amoled screen and the HD + display. The pros of the Redmi note 7 over the Samsung A30. The CPU is by far better and the graphics quality. The A30 will stutter in a game the note.7 will handle comfortably and as for graphics, it is an Overkill. the Redmi note 7 trumps The A30 one ui is better than the miui, then the Redmi note 7 is really tweakable unlike the A30. Tweaking potential of the note 7 makes up for that. The Redmi note 7 comes with the IR blaster which can be used to control electronic appliances. The Redmi note 7 comes with Corning glass 5 which the A30 lacks. Redmi note 7 comes with better design and more beautiful color options The Redmi note 7 has a better Camera not only paper. If you consider the fact that running a Gcam on it will boost picture quality excellently, then you will know it is not even comparable in anyway. The Redmi note 7 charges faster and yes does not come with the fast charger. But, this can be gotten easily in any store. As for the ads displayed, all ads can be stopped under 2 minutes if not lesser. Xiaomi phones has better resale value than Samsung. I have seen countless Samsung phones being offered for sale whose resale is not up to 70%. Cheaper parts of the Xiaomi Redmi note 7. The only area the A30 scores higher is the dual nano SIM, slightly better display, bigger screen, tadbit better battery. The Xiaomi Redmi note 7 should not be compared with the A30. For the issue of hybrid sim, you can easily get the hybrid sim adapter for #700 to #900 from sellers on Nairaland. If any comparison is to be done, please be fair in your analysis. Brand name and warranty. is this really a thing? Warranty that you will still foot the bill for. Xiaomi also have service centers here and yes brand name. They are not too known here because they just came into the Nigeria market. My advice for people, the Redmi note 7 really dusts the A30 If you want a reply from me, quote me. Do have a great day |

For those inquiring about x5 availability, check jumia.
for the comparison, x5 thrives over the A20 in the aspect the CPU , Camera, and stock Android experience. The Nokia phone suffers from charging port ish as is known with their devices
The A20 has better display(Amoled), better battery.
I personally will go for the Nokia X5 and even if an alternative should be considered, then it should be the Redmi 7. The Nokia X5 and Redmi 7 have their own strategic advantages. Those two rather are a hard choice. You have the realme 3 that is also a worthy alternative with the same Cpu as the x5, bigger screen, better battery etc.
Your options should rather be between the X5, R7, and Realme 3 |

They are many joor. for its price which is 35k on AliExpress, it is a great deal. |
Phones › Re: The Xiaomi Thread. by iamNegro(m): 7:40am On Aug 05, 2019 |
ityP: Rear camera of the Realme 3 is much better than the Redmi Note 7. It's a better option than the Redmi 7 for sure. I so do not want to do this, but I find myself doing it. Realme runs the mediatek p70 which is more battery efficient and faster. Redmi note 7 runs the SD 660 that gives better graphics and gets more support. in most of the ranking for phone processors based on usage and benchmark, most tech reviewers pick the SD 660 over the p70 not to say that the p70 is not great, cus it is. The Redmi note 7 has a better display, better screen protection, better Bluetooth Connectivity and many others. The case of the rear camera of the realme 3 being better than the redmi note 7 might likely be true, then the power of GCAM overshadows that. in all fairness, the comparison should not be with Redmi note 7. I do agree it has a definite edge over Redmi 7 |

I just looked at the Huawei y9 prime and it doesn't even have fast charge, no back glass, weaker CPU Kirin 710, no infared Port, etc. I could go on too. not to discredit Huawei. the phone should have a better camera set up than the redmi note 7 due to its triple camera, then the Gcam still makes the redmi note 7 camera tangible. Landforce1: The slow motion is limited to 1/4, the previous version had 1/8. Secondly, I seems the image qaulity I get now isn't as sharp as what I hard when I got this phone last month Help me with your feedback on this bulkin Gcam. I might just port to bulkin instead of BSG. Landforce1 |

Mizik1: yes of course...it doesn't change anything... Personally I am not a fan of tweaking my device, so I am patiently waiting for updates probably that will rectify that. Asphalt and others ran okay in the review I saw using the stock miui. I think I can cope with the lag or maybe I might have a different experience when I run the game. Tight schedule these days. |

Mizik1: its probably miui or something because normally SD660 gpu should be better... I Miui is the issue. To rectify that, it is better to Port to another ROM for gamers though. Reviews from people on xda shows remarkable improvement. Have you tried running it with the game speed booster? |
