SLIDEwaxie: which innoson? What innovation did innoson bring except those normal kick-and-start driven coffins? grin grin grin

Though, both innoson and this ghanian manufactures buy used moulds from other international car manufactures and only changed the logo and the vents to their own design!

What's new in that design. A normal ford-truck, and a normal old pathfinder shape!

The only edge the ghanian has over that overrated innoson is the new patented breathtaking inventions included which I really commend.

Even the rolls royce will be jealous of such great idea incorporated into the old mould! grin grin

I challenge both of them to make their own design different and with a trademark like the hondas, toyotas, benzoids grin, beemers, rolls royce, Bentley etc!

Konjour: Dude. Don't even try to play the righteousness card in this tragedy. In 1912, ships were allocated

lifeboats based on their gross tonnage and NOT the number of passengers they could carry.

Also, in times of disasters as such, special treatment was often given to Women and Children.

The lifeboats that were launched too had to start evacuating passengers from the top decks

which was occupied by the first class passengers, followed by the middle class passengers.

Thus, much more people died in the lower decks cuz the flooding had gotten to an advanced

stage before it was their turn to board the lifeboats, using your way of reasoning, does that mean

that God saved the first class passengers cuz they were rich and let the poor die cuz they were

poor?! Even the first lifeboats that were launched were nowhere close to being filled cuz people

were scared of boarding the boats as the ship had not really developed a severe list like it did

before it broke amidships. Some people who had been evacuated didn't want to come back cuz

they were scared of the suction effect and that the remaining survivors might swamp their boats.

Some rich people bribed their way into lifeboats cuz they had money but others died cuz they

couldn't. Does that count as God's grace too?! I implore you not to mish mash whatever you don't

understand with whatever you think you do. Think, research, learn the facts and don't always use

the name of God to support mundane things or anything you can't get a grasp of.

All some people have seen about the Titanic here is just the movie and probably a few

Wikipedia footnotes and they believe they know everything about the ship and the disaster

already.
When people reason sense is made and we discover more.. U have answered it all. Thumbs up

PointB: Op, thanks for the invitation. And thank you Berem for acknowledging my contributions to the dynamics of this section

I will be brief.

Soon after the current outbreak of Ebola, after the emergency of the experimental drugs (a serum) - Zmapp, I began to wonder if there is indeed a foul play somewhere. Perhaps a direct consequence of having seen several movies (24hrs Season 7 for example) in which corrupt western pharmaceutical companies, use corrupt and strife rife African countries to conduct human trials on bio-agents (usually deadly pathogens), preparatory for bio wars, especially during the cold war era. Now 1970s-80 Congo (Zaire then) was deeply enmeshed in this politics of cold war, with the inanely corrupt Mobutu Sese Seko backed by several US presidents, including the notorious Nixon, as cold war ally. The first Ebola outbreak was in Congo (Zaire) in 1976. You do the maths.

Now whether it was a bio-agent gone awry, or whether it is one of nature's potent weapons of population and resource control, and forest conservation; whether hyped or un-hyped , Ebola is real, and it's killing people! One can argue that the objective of the current 'noise' about Ebola is to push z-mapp and other experimental drugs/vaccines and make someone rich, but one cannot argue against the fact the preventive options available are relatively inexpensive, and practicable. And they are beneficial and effective in the long run.

In other words, washing hands with soap, avoiding fluids from ill people, avoiding wild animals (sticking to domesticated animals for food), etc are all good hygiene practice which benefit everyone whether rich or poor! It will certainly help in preventing/ curtailing other equally deadly epidemics, such as Cholera which is killing more people in Ghana, than Ebola has done in some affected countries.

My conclusion is that, this ruckus about Ebola will surely pass, but West Africa, which is worst hit now, should be able to learn a thing or two about epidemic management, and thus be better prepared in future.

Mr Sunex let me clear you on some things , I saw your previous post and I thought i contribute to it.. ,and I quote

“For ur info., I av heard of a testified
accident that occured due to the
owner of a car who removed Jesus's
picture frame from a passenger's sit
for other people to occupy, this frame
was kept in boot which also contains
som crates of eggs, wen d accident
occured out of the 6 passengers in d
car only one person survived with
injuries and the car was beyond repair,
will u bliv that none of the eggs in the
boot got cracked, even the picture
frame of Jesus was intact.”

Let me make you know something , the closest pictorial evidence of jesus face is the shroud. Of which its still disputed .. Any other picture you see is not jesus, but a human painted to depict him according to someone's image of him , but by using that picture to depict him you thereby create an idol unconsciously ,so which jesus are you worshiping? secondly, did you bother to research that testimony of the accident? there are so many scenarios to that story, and the one I heard some years back from one of the GO of a top church was that a lady was going out with her friends and her mum said “go with jesus” and the lady said jesus can stay in the booth with the crate of eggs ,then the story follows a similar ending to yours, Asides that its only normal that since someone made such a statement it angered the religious community and a divine curse was expected.. The collapse of the ship thereby added to their 2+2 to the blasphemy case. Am not disputing the fact that there is God and that he won't fail to bring down his wrath if the need be. But you need to reason from different sides cos there are so many sides to the story , with a logical explanation, Do we just close a case because we hear its an act of God? how are we going to learn as humans? One thing that u Must know is that a religious cleric or leader will only bring up cases and scenarios to defend their claims..the titanic, the car accident is also a good example, when the earthquake hit haiti, pat Robertson came out to say that the earthquake happened because of their pact with the devil the signed when they tried to gain freedom, and their present day voodoo practices was suitable to lay Claim..this sent a negative message about the country, but if you look at it in the real contex haiti actually sits on a region with a weak tetonic plate .. Which makes it prone to earthquake, castro also accused USA of using them as a test on a new weapon. So you see there are many sides to the story. Not everything is God but our own carelessness and ignorance! While we must respect God in all endeavors we need to research more as to how events in lif unfold.

A) RMS Titanic was owned by the
White Star Line, which itself was
owned by International Merchan
Marine, an Anglo-American
Conglomerate, which was in turn
largely owned by J.P.Morgan.
Bottom line...you got the name
wrong.
B) RMS Titanic sank at 2:20AM (local
time) April 15, 1912. There was NO
"worldwide Raido" in 1912.
Bottom line...you got ANOTHER fact
wrong.
C) The correct quote is "God Himself
could not sink this ship", not ,"Not
even God can sink this ship" . The
quote actually comes a chapter in
Walter Lord's book A NIGHT TO
REMEMBER. According to Lord, the
line goes back, not to the President of
the White Star Line, but to an article
in SHIPBUILDER magazine, which was
picked up and used in other
publications.
http://www.snopes.com/history/
titanic/un...
Hint...get your facts straight if you
want someone to take you seriously.
D) Titanic sank because she was
moving at to high a rate of speed in a
known icefield. She hit the berg on
her starboard side. The impact
crumpled hull plates and snapped
rivets, resulting in flooding in six of
her sixteen major watertight
compartments. She was designed so
that up to five compartments could
flood and she would still float. This is
a good discussion of the sinking.
http://www.writing.eng.vt.edu/uer/
basset...
A quick quote. "The damage caused
by the collision allowed water to flood
six of the sixteen major watertight
compartments. As water rushed into
the starboard side of the ship's bow,
the ship began to tilt down in front
and slightly to the right. By midnight,
water in the damaged compartments
began to spill over into others
because the compartments were
watertight only horizontally and the
walls extended only a few feet above
waterline. By 1:20 a.m., water began
flooding through anchor-chain holes.
Around 2:00, as the bow continued
submerging, the propellers in the
stern were lifted out of the water.
Flooding progressed until, at about
2:10, the bow of the ship was under
water and the stern was lifted out of
the water almost 45 degrees.
Because of the tremendous weight of
the three large propellers in the stern
of the ship, the stresses in the ship's
midsection increased immensely as
the stern was lifted out of the water.
At an angle of 45 degrees or more,
the stresses in the midsection
exceeded the ultimate stresses of
the steel and the steel failed."
Again...always helps to know what
you are talking about.
E) As it was, Titanic faired remarkably
well in the sinking, Lusitania sank in
only 15 min when she was torpedoed
by a German U-Boat three years
later. Here is a good source http://
www.encyclopedia-titanica.org/lin...
Final points.
The Sinking of the Royal Mail Steamer
TITANIC had nothing to do with Divine
retebution and everything to do with
negligent operation of the vessel by
the captian and crew. They were
overconfident, and they were not
familar with the ship. TITANIC was a
wonderful ship, but, as witnessed by
her sister ship OLYMPIC's colision with
the HMS Hawke a few months earlier
http://www.encyclopedia-titanica.org/
oly... the ship was very large, and
very powerful and very new... nobody
had a lot of experience in handling
ships that size becuase up until very
recently there had never been ships
that size before.
If you honestly think God deliberately
sank the Titanic, you have an
astonishly poor grasp of even the
basic truths of Christianity

EmpressaDelRei: Rainmakers are highly patronised during political rallies/functions, weddings, building and construction, funeralsand virtually everything in our day to day life. I have seen rain being held myself before: during my friend's traditional marriage ceremony in Kwale, Delta state, her family didn't pay homage to/settle one particular rain-maker from her kindred. All other rain-makers got settled except this man who the community saw as a quiet man.
On the morning of her marriage, heavy rain and thunder started. The clouds became so dark and everybody began to panic. Her eldest brother remembered that quiet old man and ran to his house. The old man was sitting at his backyard; a big pot was on the fire, empty without contents. He was chanting incantations. When he saw my friend's brother and laughed saying "I thought nobody would come". He begged the old man and the old man told him to bring a carton of Guinness stout and a Billy goat and a 4,000 naira. All the items were brought, the man sent his little son to bring something under his bed, he plucked a leaf from a hidden corner of his house, went to the fire, chanted some stuff, threw the leaf into the empty put while holding the "under-the-bed-thing". He asked the youngman to look in the direction of their house, he looked and the rain stopped instantly.
The marriage went well and that old rain-maker ate, drank and danced the most.
Fascinating Story.. My problem with this People is That they. Use their power to. Satisfy their personal greed

Obi1kenobi: I can never compare Hollywood and "Nollywood". That's insane stupidity. It would be as stupid as comparing America and Nigeria. They're day and night. Darkness and Light. Total polar opposites.

All the defensive ramblings here don't detract from the astonishing mediocrity of Nollywood. It's painful to watch. And yes, I've seen some of the parrotted Afolayan, Isong and co films and while they may be the best of the mediocrity the indusry has to offer, they couldn't come close to top international films from Hong Kong cinema, Brazil, or India or even the South Africa Nigerians hilariously like to feel superior to(in your dreams). I wouldn't even dare put it in the same sentence as Hollywood to make a comparison. The greatest problem of the Nigerian film industry is the total lack of organization and the lack of professionalism to truly set the industry apart from the marketers and traders that run the industry like they do Alaba market. Or the actors who only see the industry as a meal-ticket - often because they have nothing else to do with their lives. It's the same lack of integrated planning you see in many sectors in Nigeria - where everyone can make their own rules. They don't live for the passion of producing something truly brilliant and original. They're incapable of doing anything which stimulates the audience intellectually or really educates them about the deeper issues of the world. Big budget films, requiring big investment of money and time to craft something worthwhile, can't be produced because it's not a well regulated industry that could pool scarce resources for a few ambitious project rather than mutiple garbage low-budget productions- as long as they can profit on making weekly home videos for a profit to their Idumota trader masters that run the industry.

It's a shame the best African movies have to be shot by foreigners. Or South Africans. Movies like Hotel Rwanda or Sarafina tell the stories that Nollywood are incapable of telling. The few attempts at such things I've seen have been highly underwhelming. So we have to go back to the comfort zone of 50 Mr. Ibu or Osuofia or Olu Jacob movies every year. What a shame.
A zillion likes for this Chairman. You have said all I have been Trying to put up. U don't need to go flashy to tell stories. City of God from brazil, totsi and Ortelo burning from south africa is a very good example. And pls isong is overrated.
