alizma: I don't know if anyone will still condemn this speech by wike. These are the key points I have raised on several occasions. 1. The governor undermines the efforts of people that worked for his own victory under the leadership of wike. 2. He did that too early and everyone who has the knowledge that wike and his team worked for his victory would condemn the timing of his action. 3. Finally, he succeeded in de marketing himself as a politician. Assuming there is another election today and he has not enough money for campaign like in 2023, I can bet that politicians and parties will be very much reluctant to bring out their resources to support him. Those supporting him now are doing that because they think it's an opportunity to get back at wike, not because they will swallow the pile if the table is turned against them. Well I believe he can still remedy the situation, he should reflect on his journey and follow his heart. It's never too late to make amend. Your IQ is in thought. If Wike succeeded in incapacitating him as the executive governor of the state, pls who takes the blame of under performance? I’m sure the same Wike will condemn him for not performing and people like you will still support Wike. Some of you idiots blaming Fubara for not being loyal today will still come out and criticize him that he should have fought his godfather. When obj singlehandly picked and sponsored Yaradua election, he didn’t tie him down, he allowed him to function as he pleased. That’s a good leader. Not the greedy idiot you are supporting. |

Oga, you are a thief looking for excuses where there were not. I’m totally disappointed in those supporting this old fool. What do you mean Fubara surprised you? He wanted to incapacitate the governor and at the end who takes the blame of non performance? I remember when OBJ single-handedly and sponsored Yaradua. People were saying Yaradua was OBJ 3rd term. Against all odds, OBJ ensured Yaradua became president. But the moment Yaradua got to the office of Mr president, the first thing he did was to reverse some of the OBJ’s policies he wasn’t comfortable with. Obj did not fight him, he didn’t label him traitors. He allowed him to exercise his rights and power as the president.

Currency power is about purchasing power.
If Nigeria redenomiate it's currency like Ghana did and we removed 00 from 1k. 1usd = 1.50usd
Does that change the purchasing power? Olodo, if you remove 00, it would give you N16 and not N1.5. APC has destroyed this country una no wan gree. |

Business › Why Is Naira Keeps Falling But CFA Has Remained Relatively Stable Over The Years by ibabz(op): 10:42am On Apr 05, 2025 |
The dramatic depreciation of the Nigerian Naira since the All Progressives Congress (APC) came into power in 2015, from around N160 to N1600 to the US Dollar, reflects a complex combination of internal economic factors, external pressures, and political decisions. In comparison, the CFA Franc has remained relatively stable over the same period.
Can someone please explain why the Naira has continued to fall so precipitously while the CFA Franc has remained relatively stable?

DeLaRue: Mr Obasanjo didn't perform any magic. He was lucky that he met more favourable conditions on ground.
-1999 - Mr Obasanjo inherited: - Average daily oil production 2.15 million - Population - only 125 million people - No Boko haram, bandits, herdsmen palaver - Large debts that Nigeria had the money to pay.
2023 - Mr Tinubu inherited: - Average daily oil production - only 950 thousand - Population - 220 million (nearly double OBJ's) '-Extensive banditry, herdsmen - farmer clashes -Large debts that Nigeria didn't have the money to pay back. Nigeria was on the verge of bankruptcy.
No President in the history of Nigeria has faced the severity of the economic conditions that Mr Tinubu inherited. As such no Nigerian President has been as tested as him. Hands down, the most reformist President Nigeria has ever had.
It is easy to paint Mr Obasanjo as a Saint. Where is the result of the $12 billion his regime claimed to have spent on power. Did you just said lucky? I respected you than this. I think you are among the few I can say I truly respect their opinion on this forum, but saying OBJ was lucky, I’m totally disappointed. The clear difference between OBJ and Tinubu is the quality of their cabinet. We all know the caliber of talents regardless of their ethnicity under OBJ. Can you say of same under Tinubu. This was a man that made crucial decisions and policies before appointing any team to analyze policy before he announced them. This is a man that made huge mistakes and looking for who to take the blame. Why did he secretly reverse some of the policies he announced before he appointed his team? Or do you want to tell me that they were still paying subsidies until Dangote refinery was launched. Or do you want to tell me you didn’t know they are still secretly supporting naira? Abeg I!!!!! |

zero8zero: Mention what OBJ & Yaradua "turned around" in in two years.. Oh really? Let me just mention a few. OBJ met less than $3b in the external reserve and was able to increase it to over $30b when a barrel of oil was less than $20. It was during this period that excess crude oil account was created. They moved Nigeria out of indebted countries. Heavy investment in agriculture with their cassava revolution program. Setup most of the institutions we have today from ground zero without inflicting suffering and pains on the masses. See, I can go on and on. Just admit that Tinubu is a total failure. |

seunmsg: Nigeria’s long term economic outlook is very bright. International organizations are all very optimistic about Nigeria’s future because of all the economic reforms President Tinubu is working on.
You don’t have to like Tinubu to see some of these things. For the past 30 years or so, all presidents have had to worry about fuel subsidy, electricity subsidy, forex subsidy, state governments hijack of local government funds etc. In less than two years, he tackled all these issues instead of sidestepping them like all others have done. Going forward, no president after him will have to worry about any of these issues.
Things may be difficult but some of these things Judy have to be done in the overall long term interest of the country. Can you justify why we pay more for electricity in Nigeria than in UK? Can you tell us just one area or sector where this improvement is coming from? Just one. |

lapintoz: I like the way you stand logic on its head to justify your perfidious mumble jombo. My age is utterly irrelevant here.
1. The external reserve as the time your Emiefele left was down to barely $3billion when you back out the FX forwards to banks, trapped airline funds, and part of the external reserve already used as collateral with JP Morgan. So the unencumbered $38 billion foreign reserve is wishful thoughs. 2. The monumental fraud in petroleum subsidy and crude oil swap had to be stopped immediately. Divide $10 billion USD by 365 days to give you an idea of what the oil and gas parasites were pocketing. Add the petroleum products smuggled across the porous borders and we are talking over $15 billions of huge leakages in our fragile economy. 3. Yes Tinubu worked to bring Buhari to power, but we all know Buhari ran his government the way he deemed fit. Was Tinubu a member of his cabal? If anything, he was completely sidetracked by Abba Kyari and Maman Daura. Baring occasional push back, have you ever heard Tinubu complain? He is busy working to write the wrongs. 4. What was Atiku's role in OBJ'S government when OBJ made him a personal non grata in their 2nd term. Atiku used the 1st term to enrich himself....Intel is staring us in the face. 5. The gap between the official and autonomous foreign currency market was inimical to any economic development. Emiefele and the Buhari cabal were simply feeding fat on the free currency arbitrage. Only a mad man will keep that going. OBJ, YarAdua, Jonathan all bridged the gap between official and black market rate to a tiny fraction!
Tinubu could have continued and be sharing the rewards of these economic sabotage amongst his friends and cronies, but he chose not to.
I am sure your Obi would have been clueless on what to do while Atiku will have continued with the old shenanigans till the country files for bankruptcy. I tell you with all intent and purpose, amongst the choices we were left with, Tinubu is the king! Ogbeni, I don’t buy all these your crab and bull story, it won’t change a thing that your so called president is a total failure. Looking at what OBJ met and what he was able to accomplish without imposing hash policies on the citizens then your Tinubu is a total disaster. You don’t need to applaud a failure just because he’s your kinsman. A failure is a failure qed. Pls stop defending this nonsense. Did Tinubu meet $38b in external reserve, yes or no? OBJ met less than $3b in the external reserve, a debt of about $60b, crude oil was less than $20b, plus other worst situations. He met Nigeria far worse than what Tinubu met, but he didn’t impose unnecessary burdens on the citizens. He didn’t increase tax, VAT, school fees, bank charges. He didn’t remove subsidies, he didn’t devalue the naira, etc. |

Crude oil production was below 1m bpd. Massive petroleum subsidy fraud. FX Racketeering by Emiefele, Maman Daura and co. Massive crude oil theft.
Nigeria was a few months into declaring bankruptcy. Tinubu is no saints, but far better that the calamitous Atiku.
What happens when you spend what does not belong to you. . ...payback! We are paying back on Buhari's mess. I don’t care if you have to write this nonsense just to justify your N30k stipends but the fact remains that both Buhari and Tinubu (the devilish party called APC) ruined this country. How do you defend a man that announces subsidies removal on the first day in office without reviewing the effects of such policies on the economy? How float the naira before setting up the economy team? Everyone except people with dead brains know that these policies caused the problem we are having today. Stop telling me Buhari did this, Buhari did that? I have never seen any president that act before thinking. Saying that Buhari “Buhari” cleaned out external reserves to zero is just one of your beer parlor gossips. How come your president met about $38billion or thereabouts? Let me even ask you, how old are you? Because you sounded like someone in secondary school, if not, how can you ever rate Atiku and Tinubu? Have you taken time to read about the achievements Atiku and OBJ recorded while in office? Despite meeting a near comatose country from the military, these two worked very hard to reposition the country for greatness. Is either some of you weren’t born or were still breastfeeding when they were in government. Or you were the types that believed the same lies and propaganda this delish party sold to gullible Nigerians like you. |
