ALTERNATEID: You are making so much noise on this as if you understand what the issues are. You don’t even know the difference between foreign reserve and net foreign reserve yet you want to save someone from embarrassment when in reality, you need to be properly educated about the issues. Una go explain tire with no evidence. I don’t just understand this level of bewitchment. The news from CBN says external reserves was $35b, not “net external reserve”. |

Dutch disease.
Yaradua, by the way, borrowed in 2009. Obasanjo debt forgiveness was part of a debt forgieveness program that extended to many African countries. We got part of our debt forgiven and we paid the rest. Bro, i think it’s foolhardy fighting a fellow citizen that is being affected by the harsh economy policies of the thieves in government. I’m not talking about those that are defending this government because of what they enjoy directly or indirectly - the N30k keyboard warriors. |

Image123: 1. Tinubu paid all Nigeria’s FX Backlogs of about $4.5b and reunites Nigeria with international airlines
2. Tinubu built our net external reserves from $3.9b in 2023 to $25b in 2025
3. Tinubu paid off the $3.4b IMF loan
4. Tinubu returns the prosperity of state governments across Nigeria 🇳🇬
5. Tinubu cleared about N30 trillion ways and means obligations of FG with the CBN.
He's not competing with anyone, just doing his job. A simple google search would have saved you this embarrassment. You can win an election with propaganda but you can’t run a government by propaganda. You met $35b in external reserves and depleted to $3b and tried to raise it back to the same value you met it and you call that achievement? Pls we are not stu. Pid. If you’re working for your N30k per month is understandable but don’t think we don’t have Nigerians that haven’t been bewitched or hypothesized.

AntiChristian: So na OBJ template you dey worship now?
Wey them chop the economy silently in the midst of plenty! Pls define what you meant by “midst of plenty”. I don’t know your age when OBJ was the president but I can tell you for a fact that crude oil was less than $20 and when they had excess, he created excess crude oil account. It was these set of thieves that took Jonathan to court asking for the money to be shared. I wonder what Nigeria would have turned to by now if these set of thieves were the ones that took over from the military, I just wonder. Pls show me one president that is a match to OBJ’s achievements, just one. |
Politics › Re: Public Debt: Nigeria’s Biggest Creditors After Repaying IMF Loans by ibabz(m): 8:59am On May 14, 2025 |
nairalanda1: We are always going to borrow because the basis of our budget is monies for oil. Less than 20% comes from taxes.
Even if we diversified and sold all our resources we will still borrow.
That is because we don't control the prices of said resources. And they don't favour us most of the time. So there be budget shortfalls and thus borrowing
If we used our resources to make goods that the world needs , well we would reduce our dependency on borrowing You are right. The same way OBJ and Yaradua borrowed to finance the economy. Most you people defend incompetence? |

Agbegbaorogboye: Apologies to zero8zero I was wrong Nigeria actually owes the WB $17.8bn and not the $13.5bn I claimed. The $13.5bn was from Buhari era. Tinubu has added $4.3bn to it Lol, so Tinubu borrowed $4.3b from world bank and paid IMF $$3.5b and some mo.Rons are jubilating that he has cleared Nigeria debt. But why did God create me with these type of people? The ingenious style of a Chicago economist. In fact we still get $800m balance from the WB loan. |
Politics › Re: Public Debt: Nigeria’s Biggest Creditors After Repaying IMF Loans by ibabz(m): 8:53am On May 14, 2025 |
Those celebrating that Tinubu paid $3.5b loan, pls when is Tinubu going to pay the remaining loans? Since he wants to equal OBJ achievements in 2yrs.
$44.9 billion, with the top five creditors being: Eurobond holders – $17.32 billion World Bank (IDA) – $16.56 billion Exim Bank of China – $5.06 billion African Development Bank (AfDB) – $2.10 billion IBRD (World Bank) – $1.24 billion |

Quelme: Truer words have never been said.
A country bastardized from 1960 till date can not be fixed overnight. He didn’t take OBJ more than 1yr to improve the economy, he didn’t take Yaradua more than 1yr to make an impact, he didn’t take Jonathan more than 2yrs to make an improvement but it took Buhari less than 2yrs do destroy everything, it didn’t take Tinubu more than 24hrs before he destroyed the few achievements left. Pls use your brain next time before you comment. |

ufotunang: ..ok the north want to do 8 years...2027 to 2035 .. which it will make it 18years for north and south.. equally..but for me I do not care about this regional government..or turn by turn government.. what I want is a good and competent president that will address and tackle poverty, hunger, hardship, inflation, high costs of living high rate of unemployment Nigerians are going through, whether it's a northerner or southerner that can do it...I am not satisfied with Tinubu government he has put Nigerians in poverty, hunger, hardship inflation, high costs of living and providing bad governance..if there is any competent presidential candidate than can address and tackle all this problems Nigerians are going through..I will support such person from any region or tribe, the person come from in Nigeria.. that is what Nigerians should be looking at.,all this regional government and turn by turn give has not addressed and tackled the issues and problems Nigerians have been going through and not made the economy and country any better This is exactly my point. I don’t give a heck which region produces the next President, all I want is a president that his policies are not anti-masses. I don’t understand why some hungry Yorubas are still supporting this government simply because he comes from the region. There’s this saying, “ajumobi o ko aanu”, which means that you know someone doesn’t mean he or she will help. Tinubu is there for himself and his family, not for Yoruba. How has his presidency benefited any average Yoruba man or woman? Until Nigerians understand that the best candidate and not the next region, I don’t see this country moving forward. |

North: Yaradua 2yrs + Buhari 8yrs - that’s a total of 10yrs. Giving Tinubu another 4yrs means south would have done a total of 22yrs and north: 10yrs. |

Bobloco: Those who organized, sponsored, and financed the 2012 Ojota protest against subsidy removal have now taken credit for removing the very subsidy they once opposed. This development underscores one clear reality: their actions were driven by political motives rather than genuine patriotism And very unfortunately, over 90% of those who participated in the protest didn’t know they were being used for someone selfish purposes. They believed they were fighting for their rights; just like the animal farm. |

These people are terrible! A former colleague of mine was given $20000 to support and campaigned for Tinubu. He exchanged the money to naira and got about N10m. Kept the money in fixed deposit. One year after, he redeemed the money and exchanged it back to naira and got about $6000. Tinubu collected his money back by devaluing naira. From $20,000 to $6,000 under one year. |
