First of all, music is a profession only few people have set a legacy (minding the genre of music these guys sings oh). So Dont really expect a dynasty from them.

Secondly, if they can live a successful life and lay the necessary foundation for their kids and immediate family, I think that is legacy in itself mate....
Many musicians of back in the days, we only hear about them in history classes, and that's SOME of them. The plantainsion boys, blackface, etc were big back then. Davido and his ilks are living in the moment which will soon come to pass (music is ever changing).

Davido's father is a billionaire....he has businesses all around......contributes to black wealth......made money so that his son could become something.

Davido....spends......spends....spends......no business..... keeps spending.....spends more on useless cars like he's driving them to heaven.

Let's say he starts a multinational business or invest in agriculture in the SW? He's developing our economy and making MORE money....living a legacy for his children and children's children. Let's say he even starts his own car manufacturing business. Now that's smart.

It's actually my business in the long run, because they're contributing to the stereotype of black people which will be used as a case study to observe me and my race.

What's wrong with starting a business and increasing the black wealth.

Poverty mentality, you guys an never think beyond the "now". No reasonable person can win with you guys and the "it's my money let me SPEND it" mentality.

I'm not questioning his source of money. I want him to not just spend, but to invest and build businesses with that money.

Someone like Davido can do so much with his money; building multinational businesses, start his own music school, own estates, start an oil/gas company, etc.

So much potential going to waste.

Lol. Tongue in the cheek, alie?

Anyway, don't let these folks' noise get to you - they're just the masters of making noise. In a well structure environment, their style of doing business will never work.

Have you ever asked yourself why over 90% of Nigerian businesses in the UK (I believe it should be lopsided in favour of Yorubas in US and Canada as well) are owned by Yorubas?

P.S: I just said 90% to be fair - it's about 99%, if I'm being factual cos you'll see more than 100 businesses owned by Yorubas before you see one Igbo business out here.
I've mentioned the same thing before. Shady businesses can only prosper in Nigeria. They often mention that Yoruba steal ND oil, I guess a Yoruba man also stole Texas oil (Texas Oilman: Kase Lawal)? Igbos like to lie to themselves about Yoruba successful businessmen.

NIGERIAN PAINTER ÒMÓ OBA ADETOMIWA A. GBADEBO EXHIBITS IN MINNEAPOLIS

For Nigerian painter Òmó Oba (Prince) Adetomiwa A. Gbadebo, becoming an artist wasn’t a choice. It was a traditional and essential part of his culture. As part of the royal Gbadebo family of Abeokuta, the capitol of Ogun State, “My work is very spiritual. It’s ritualistic. It’s beyond the human realm,” he says.

Gbadebo’s first solo exhibition in the Midwest, “Oba Kò so - Erú Ko Si Siwaju Sii (The King Did Not Hang. Slaves No More.)" is named after a play by Duro Lapido about Yorùbá mythology, and opens on Friday at City Wide Artists in Minneapolis.

A lifelong artist, it was around age 10 that Gbadebo gave up on tracing. “It never came out right,” he says. By eschewing the need to be neat, he came into an abstract style that yields bright, bold, large-scale works can take months to complete. Even then, he says a work is never finished; rather, it grows and expands. “It’s very tedious,” Gbadebo explains. “There’s a lot of mind power that I put in my work.”

While Gbadebo’s early aesthetic was more detailed and dominated by imaginary landscapes, circles, and constellations, his current work revolves around themes of the human journey, Ifá philosophies, and the goal of societal enlightenment. “Aesthetically, work always changes,” he says. “It’s not something I decide to do. It changes with age, with time.”

Red, white, and black — dominant colors in African culture — are constants in his work, though he doesn’t choose the colors, per se. Inspired by his colorful homeland, “any application of color or lack of certain colors is destiny,” he says.

Gbadebo's his primary role models are his mother, father, and grandfather. “Those are my influences in how they live their lives.” As for artists, he cites American painter Julian Schnabel (who uses broken ceramic plates as “canvases” for his paintings), because he appreciates the of the scale of his work.

Whatever you do, don’t compare Gbadebo to Jean-Michel Basquiat. (He gets that a lot.) “To the dominant culture in the U.S., Basquiat stood out because he was probably the most wealthy black artist of his time,” Gbadebo says. “But people did not know much about African culture in the U.S. He referenced a lot of spiritual entities is African culture. To me, when people look at my work and say ‘Basquiat,’ it means that they don’t know much culturally about my work. The American Caucasian artists see themselves as individuals, but they see African artists, black artists, as collective. It’s something that I don’t take pride in at all. It’s something that I kind of detest. Every artist is individual. I’m not choosing my colors because of Basquiat or Picasso.”

When Gbadebo gives away or sells a piece of his work, he asks the recipient to respect it “because it is part of my soul,” he says. If confronted with ignorance about the role of art in African culture, he sees it as an opportunity to impart knowledge rather than to judge. “It’s not frustrating,” he says. “It’s a great joy. I love to educate people. To me, individuals who don’t understand, it’s good. You teach them.”

IF YOU GO:

The digital platform is integrated with owned developed eReader App, known as Media+ eReader App already available on App Store & Google Play, whilst we are hoping to release the Windows version before the end of the year.

The Meda+ eReader App is fully integrated with the EdgeBooks’ Digital Platform for the effective management of all the purchase/ subscription, download and pleasurable reading of all eBooks, digital comics, journals, and magazines purchased from the platform.

Our digital platform is fully secured with a DRM solution combined with Thawte SSL encryption for our enterprise class dedicated server. It is our great honour to have signed up publishers like Pearson Southern Africa, Motivational Press United States, Embassy Publishing United states, Ingram Content on behalf of African Books Collective United Kingdom, Renaissance Law Publishing Limited Nigeria, and Kwarts Publishing Limited, South Africa; who have taken the time to evaluate the DRM solution implemented for our Store and collectively supplied close to 3000 eBooks to the platform.

In the coming months, other bigger publishers, both local and international, would be signing up. Potentially, our digital platform should have more than 50,000 books by the end of 2015.

Our unique selling offering is the support we provide for local publishers directly, helping them to convert their huge book portfolio into digital, which is impossible with Amazon and other stores like iTunes & GooglePlay. We are taking local African Authors (Publishers) to the world, and we are bringing global Authors (Publishers) into Africa.

Towards this end, we have set up our retail outlets for the South Africa, Nigeria, and Kenya We intend to extend to other African territories in the coming months, which includes French and Portuguese territories before the end of 2016. Our platform for each territory is integrated with local payment gateways within those territories, which enables consumers in those territories to buy the same books in the local currencies.

We have also set up our store in UK for sale of books in Pounds Sterling. The objective for the European, Australian, and US markets is to make African Authors available to millions of Africans living abroad, and thus, also making money in foreign exchange for Publishers/Authors.

The URLs for our current store fronts are:
South Africa: http://www.edgebooks.co.za;
Nigeria: http://www.edgebooks.com.ng;
Kenya: http://www.edgebooks.co.ke;
United Kingdom: http://www.edgebooks.uk.

Part of our strategy is to effectively position the EdgeBooks digital platform to Publishers, Distributors and Educational institutions (private and public) primarily in Africa, and in selected markets across the globe, even as digital books becomes more and more entrenched across the continent.

Currently, EdgeBooks Digital Platform has become the resource destination for Lawyers and other professionals in Nigeria, and Africa by extension, haven signed up leading law publishing companies that currently have more than 20,000 lawyers as their regular clients. The impact of this on the EdgeBooks platform is that in the next 6 to 12 months, EdgeBooks should have more than 10,000 legal professionals as regular subscribers of the digital law reports distributed via the platform, and more than 20,000 in the next 24 months months. This will be scaled across Africa and globally.

In addition to that, leading global publishers like Wiley’s, Pearson, Ingram, etc have already signed up with EdgeBooks to distribute/retail their professional publications covering Law, Accounting, Medicine, etc.

There is a strong focus on tertiary institutions, and there has been massive responses from there in Nigeria, and we hope to scale this across Africa in the next 12 months.

As an African global brand our mission is to be the leader on the continent, and the default destination for eBooks and other digital publications.

Meanwhile, please download our Media+ eReader App from Google Play and iOS to have a feel of the App and for evaluation purpose.

Mr. Fola Adeola is the founder and chairman of Guaranty Trust Bank Plc, one of Nigeria’s largest banks, where he is presently a director.

He served the bank as the pioneer Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer for 12 years. Before founding Guaranty Trust Bank Plc in 1990, Mr. Adeola was the Deputy General Manager & Divisional Head, Financial Services Division of the Continental Merchant Bank Limited (1986-1990). He also served as a manager of the NAL Merchant Bank Plc from 1982-1986. Prior to this experience, he served as a senior auditor at D.O. Dafinone & Co. From the beginning of his tenure at Guaranty Trust, Mr. Adeola had sought to build an institution that would outlast him and one that would be reputed for strong governance, including carefully laid out succession plans. It was in this spirit that he stepped down after 12 years at the helm of the bank.
Immediately upon stepping down, Mr. Adeola served as the chairman of the Pension Reform Committee, which designed and drafted the Pension Reform Act of 2004, which is guiding the emergence of a new pension industry in Nigeria. He was until recently the Chairman of the National Pension Commission, the regulatory authority for the Pension Industry. Mr. Adeola also served briefly as CEO of Transnational Corporation of Nigeria (“Transcorp”), a holding company set up with local investors in 2004 to invest in the privatization of state enterprises with the goal of becoming the leading Nigerian conglomerate.
Mr. Adeola is the founder of FATE Foundation, a charitable foundation created to promote entrepreneurship among the youth in Nigeria, a cause Mr. Adeola feels very passionate about.
