If I were an IGBO I will pay careful attention to what the Oba of Lagos said. It is an indictment of you people from the East and he so perfectly captured the true feelings of Yoruba people.
It is time to introduce a SE development levy on run-away irreponsible Igbos who would leave their homeland and heritage to waste away whilst forming 'Lagosian' in another man's land. Lagos state should collect the Levy (retaining 10% for admin) and remit the balance to the 5 Igbo states for development.
That 'Lagosian' pie in the sky is deceiving you IBOs.
The Oba of Lagos has spoken and the task to recover our land is an earnest one for us Yoruba else we would forever bury our heads in shame. |

owobokiri: Akiolu has always been a talkative. With the benefit of hindsight, APC may gain from this but I doubt if the loquacious Oba was acting a script. He just didn't like the Eze igbo titles around him and may have been pissed too with the federal house results in igbo dominated areas. So he went off.ungaurded in the defence of his candidate. You guys from Yorubaland find it difficult to criticise the throne or even wayward elders. That is a cultural flaw you must find a way to deall with someday. Otherwise it takes no rocket science to feel Akiolus ill manners. Even before this outburst, if you have followed him closely, you would have always sensed that his mouth will get him in hot waters someday. Oba is worried about the Eze title? The Oba granted those titles in his domain. Why do you think the Ezes we're laughing and clapping like minus. The Oba can withdraw the title at any time, learn. |
Politics › Re: Opinion: Our Government Should Remove "STATE OF ORIGIN" In Filling Forms by ibedun: 5:25am On Apr 08, 2015 |
emorse: I don't agree with you bro. Ownership of what land are we talking about? Are you aware that almost every tribe in this country has at least a small community in each state of this country? If everyone has to go back to his own "state of origin", it would amount to a useless reshuffle. The population would remain almost the same and the country would be as disunited as can be. Your kinsmen that have settled productively elsewhere would have to go back "home" and start rebuilding.
On the other hand, abolishing the state of origin would ensure that every Nigerian has equal opportunities irrespective of where he is from. The Yoruba man can bid for a contract in the Niger delta and be considered fairly. The Hausa man can live peacefully in Aba and contribute in his own little way to the development of his "state of residence" knowing fully well that there is an Ijaw man somewhere in the north doing the same. In the long run, children would be born with emotional attachments only to Nigeria as a country instead of any state or region. Names would not even matter anymore because inter tribal marriages - which I presume would be more common by then - would have united everyone by blood. Tribal conflicts would be dead and gone.
PS- All these would not happen in just one year or even a couple of years. Generations may pass. But it would be a long standing legacy for generations to come. Igbo agenda dead on arrival. The only solution is for Igbos to develop their land. |

Frankenstein: Can someone post a pie-chart or a histogram illustrating Lagos population according to ethnic groups.
No matter the extent of the perceived provocation from some Igbo people in Lagos, no single individual will be thrown in the lagoon. Yoruba APC politicians can not afford to have their economic powerhouse become the ground zero of a major Nigerian tribal crisis.
Such a situation will also be catastrophic for the president-elect, his sponsors, party and supporters because anarchy will rule the country and calls for secession and a military takeover could be unavoidable. Lagos state is a SW Yoruba state. Any non-indegene is a foreigner and all are subject to the rules and regulations of Yoruba society. That Lagos is a Yoruba State is not going to change anytime soon. |

THIS NONSENSE MUST NOT CONTINUE. IGBOS HAVE OVERSTEPPED THE MARK AND WE NEED TO GET MORE DIRECTION FROM OUR LEADERS.

Texcoco: That is the point we are saying.the only buffer to their hate and discrimination is the fear of the igbos, the fear our pride and once that pride is stung and nothing is done or humble ourselves,it further emboldens them to do more.Btw,whoever gave you that crap about stolen properties?? Til today Ojukwu's family are still fightin Lagos state into reclaiming their father's houses,Did you not read about igbos caught out in Lagos during the war who were summarily executed as alleged spies?? Forget the 20£ insult for another topic.....We are saying a stand off brings in mutual respect from otherwise two hostile parties and any form of weakness (like you are blatantly displaying) exhibited by one party is ruthlessly exploited by the other.Read your history.US/North Korea....Nazi Germany/British Empire,US/Japanese Empire......Rome/Carthage etc Please ask this guy what his father's/family/himself stake is in Lagos. Has he got land, properties, businesses, livelihood etc in Lagos. If you do you will never make such comments as you are known for. I grew up in Ladipo and believe me I grew up with the Ibos (as we call them) but my love for them changed during the No man's land furore. Yesterday though, I was for the first time ready to die over this issue after seeing those insults on Alayeluwa the almighty Kabiyesi of Lagos. I would happily put that Agbaje boy where he would breath no more and I will pay the price. I have never been as angry as I was yesterday. Igbos please exercise caution, the Oba has spoken! |

Farming is mere fun when compared to seismic data acquistion jobs where people crawl is swamps, mud flats and other wicked conditions with heavy equipment straffed to their backs. Do you think oil flows in rivers?
Mr Man Right now you are on Nigeria's soil and within our national territory. eCollynzo: Hmm see lies! When you were producing cocoa, some parts of the Niger delta were also producing cocoa, other parts produced palm oil and rubber, so at no time did anybody depend on your cocoa. What was in practice then was regionalism, every region took care of itself. Stop the revisionism. So when did the lazy and indolent Niger Deltans got off their arse and started "producing" oil to feed the rest of the Nigerian population. Oil was simply found in their part of the Nigerian territory. |

First, my inlaws distanced from APC because according to them it was Awolowo party....only cow herders (referring to Fulani) and amala and ewedu (referring to Yoruba) people should be members.....it is below Ibo to belong in APC.
They failed to assess risks and calculate forward that in the event of a NW/SW win at the executive, the legislative will be a crucial base from which to protect SE interest.
Now we are looking to distribute power and everyone has a horse standing on the line and ready to carry the weight but guess whose horse is again positioned behind the wagon? Ibo people don fail me again!
When Ibo reps and senators...all PDP and in minority need help from other zones to defeat a bill, na who dem go ally with now? The cow herders or the amala eater?

For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. I think the days of Igbos trooping over to our land and finding virgin territory, free space, unencombered, undisturbed, free willy doing anyhow etc etc might be over. Unless of course, Odua is dead and buried BUT I am sure nobody wants to watch as his ancestral land being taken over. There is a lot of grumbling within the Yorubas already and I suspect that the rumbling might just bubble to the surface now. |
