You read some comments and understand why the country is the way it is... people leaving the substance that an ex-governor stupendously enriched himself and his immediate family cycle to the detriment of the Kogi State and her citizens. But all u hear is that ehnnnn, he did it in 2021, 2022? The EFCC Chair is bias, U hear its a witch hunt, someone even said YB is a smart guy (imagine that).. etc What have you said to the criminal who's evading being questioned?

This is not a bad salary considering the fact that Assistant Lecturership is meant for a fresh graduate with good grade like first class or 2.1. Are you saying 125k is too small for a fresh graduate to start life with? It is not too bad if not renewed shege induced inflation grin
Assistant Lecturer is post Masters rank. Fresh graduate comes in as Graduate Assistant. So with your 1st Degree and then Masters, you earn N118k (not 125k). The chart below is FG's chart for their salaries. Check the Net.
Except for Professional courses e.g Pharmacy, Engineering, MBBS e.t.c

Please, stop lying or misleading people. There is nothing added. The Assistant Lecturer there is the one that has spent 3 years., Otherwise, it's 118k. Attached is the FG chart.

The bolded.

Did the Students graduate at the initial time they were supposed to? Can the time wasted be recovered?

See, when making a choice to go on Strike to fight for your right, be calculative about it & see same as a moment to loose something to get greater something... It is highly unfair to stop work for 8 solid Months & expect to get paid for same period of time.. If the clause of No work No pay is not in existence, it means your union leadership can always wake up one day & embark on weeks of Strike for frivolous reasons like the recent nationwide Strike because NLC President was allegedly beaten in Imo State. Before your highly partisans Union Leaders use you to play Politics, always ask them if truly it worths because the Era of going on Strike for months & still get paid is over.. I suspect you Guys are always quick to go on Strike with the mindset you would still get paid for the period of the industrial actions.. So if you must go on Strike, be ready to sacrifice your Salaries to achieve greater Goals.

- Your write up is more emotional than it is fact-laden. ASUU had protested for 11 years b4 that strike. FG kept on dribbling.

- FG constituted 4 different committees on same issue and yet refused to heed their recommendations. The committees were only intended to buy time.

- If ASUU embarks on action today, u will start shouting "partisan", "no work no pay". As of today even the 25-35% wage foisted on ASUU, appropriated and signed in to 2023 budget has not been paid as of 29th Nov. 2023! Is that one because ASUU was on strike again?

- Earned Academic Allowances has not been paid for 9yrs now. Promotion arrears owed for 4 yrs now. After rising to the level of a Professor you earn $300 & 10yrs later, it will be $400. NHF and Pension of many members are deducted but not remitted. Can u tell me which of these things is not worth protesting?

- Since the last strike was called off over 2yrs ago, FG has not called to even mention all the things listed above. What exactly should ASUU do under these circumstances?

- And pls, don't mention lobbying, cos b4 the last strike ASUU lobbied to the extent of involving the Sultan of Sokoto & CAN President. They involved other royal fathers, past Generals and even the current President - Tinubu. Entreaties to Buhari-led FG failed, what else should ASUU have done?

- And when a strike is announced today, FG will automatically wake up. Yet pple like you still think ASUU is the villain. I don't get it!

Not totally true. No strike has ever been called off release of revitalization funds (funding for University). But even the salary issue, FG is yet to review it since 2009. 14:yrs of stagnant salary, oga, you sef check am

I don talk say I no go comment on Nairaland till 2024 but I just can't overlook this nonsense news.

FG must not pay ASUU one kobo. No work, no pay policy must be implemented to the letter.

You wasted the lives of students for almost a year and you still want to be paid in full.

Every little thing, they will declare strike. Then, travel out on vacation or go and lecture in private universities (side hustle) until when they call off their strike.

This nonsense has to stop

- One of the major causes of the strike was 13 years of stagnant salary. How will you sincerely feel if you're the one?

- Another was FG's policy to withdraw funding for universities. That is partially happening now. If you have a child or sibling in Federal universities, go and ask them what's up.

- Thousands of students have abandoned the university education & returned to the streets. Who's children do u think we're talking about? Definitely not those of the politicians.

- The entire work missed during the strike was done. Students have been mobilized & gone for NYSC. Others are in new classes. So which work are you guys saying is undone?

- ASUU has never been the problem. The need to boost the business of privately owned universities, while aggrandizing more lootable resources is the grand target. And who owns these universities? Yes, them.

- While you have reasons to hate on ASUU, remember that the common enemy is the political class. They are bent on widening the gap on all fronts (Educationally, Financially, Socially, etc) while the victims blame other victims as is the case rn. That can only help one set of people. The politicians.

- In 1984, Buhari stopped the feeding culture in universities. He tagged it corrupt, just like he did with anything he intends to destroy. He came back and finally finished the university system. Buhari doesn't have value for education because he doesn't know what it entails. No one values what they don't understand.

- B4 the elections Tinubu vehemently pushed Buhari to pay. Fronted Gbajabiamila & the likes of Babajide Otitoji of TVC escalated & saw reasons. Tinubu is now President, story don change. Politicians will always be themselves.

- Universities run as sessions. As of today, no academic session was missed and all pending work was done, results submitted, students mobilized and some have done their NYSC. Why is the FG still shouting "No work, no pay" for the work that has already been done?

- Las, las, many don finally japa. Many more are coming. Just like our Doctors, their children and grandchildren will meet some of the Lecturers here. They will learn the hard way.

sagitariusbaby:
I have never supported APC in any election but I am happy with this outcome. I'm from the South South but I have a big issue with some states like Kogi and Benue where a particular tribe thinks the seat of the first man of the state is their exclusive right.

Ebira is doing to the Igalas what the Igala did to them back to back since 1999 return to democracy until the Ebira got it by divine intervention. Playing ethnic politics in a state like Kogi comes with great consequences and regrets like this. The Benue Tiv people should get ready for a day and time like this when the Idoma by divine mercy will take over the leadership of that state to the glory of God. This election is a clear example. Congratulations to ODODO.

As sweet at this may sound, is the state better off now? To you, it doesn't matter whether the election was free and fair? Do you know many Igalas earlier clamoured for same change until Yahaya Bello disappointed? The biggest project of Bello's 8yrs regime was a hospital & a university, both in his zone, despite the 13% derivation that Kogi was receiving under him. Do you understand the quantum of insecurity, youth restiveness and landslide poverty that the young man has institutionalized? So it was so fair that his cousin was the only Igbira suitable for the job I guess? So it's wrong that Igala's dominated for years but right for igbira to do same while Okun and Bassa can continue to fry Garri, abi? If indeed you're from the SS, you should not do a blanket analysis of something you don't understand. Bello had the best opportunity to be the best Governor Kogi had. He blew it. That is the grouse, not tribe.

Nothing gives them pleasure like seeing disagreement or conflict among northern tribes!!

That's why they've been pushing the middle belt agenda to cause division in the north!!

Let's make this clear, there is no clash between Hausa and Fulani in sokoto and there will never be...

There's only clash between farmers and some herdsmen which happens occasionally...

And here, we have our own way of resolving and disescalting such conflict!

When Obedients say “Middle belt” they mean “Christian belt” but what they failed to realize is even in their so called “Christian belts” Muslims have the higher population!!

Niger is 75% Muslims with a Muslim governor Sani Bello

Kogi is 60% Muslims with yahya bello as the governor!

Kwara with 70%. Muslim population with Abdullarazak as their governor!!

Nasarwa is 65% Muslim population with Abdullahi sule as their governor!!

In the north central only plateau and Benue have Christian governors!!

With plateau having 50-50 both faith population while Benue is the only state in the north central with over 90% Christian population yet piter obi lost the state!!

The north remain the most united region in Nigeria with over 300 ethnic groups!!

Children of hate are already celebrating the war between Hausa and Fulani... Una go wait for tire!!

These two tribes with time have intertwined into the most powerful Nation in Nigeria!!

This statistics is as dumb as it is false.

You have some lecturers who are like those students, so they do things. If nothinggoes wrong, no news filters out. But, those who are not like the students will just look stupid by trying to report such a student. You get things like "so if 50 girls make advances at you, you come and start reporting them because you think you're alone facing that, abi? OR What do you want us to do? Rusticate her? Go and put it into writing. Etc

Very importantly, there are no clear cut punishments against students for such acts. In fact even if it is established that a female student has falsely accused a lecturer, there are no clear-cut punishments. You can ask any lecturer you know, sir.

So many things wrong in & with the country.

grin grin grin

So the Government that allowed doctors in just 1 state go on strike for 13 months is forgiven

Or the one that sacked the VC because oF ASUU strike is forgiven.... you people talk as if ....everybody has selective Amnesia like you

ASUU is a union created by law...
The law says...unions should give an audited report of their finances... and on this the FG is right with holding their dues until they submit the report...

The university can suspend the student union Government based on the same principle and refuse to remit the SUG dues to it ....so why can't the federal government do the same

somebody must cure this madness...After ASUU..then move on to NMA,NBA,NURTW, PENGASAN, ICAN Then this union's too can fight back by demading for audited reports of the government finances....

Let the unions and the Government fight to the finish..till they get to the supreme court..so that we can set a precedence and end this rubbish once and for all

its so easy to point accusing fingers at others when we are guilty of the same thing
If we all want a great nation...this are the kind of fights we should support. And not say because you hate the government their now...you abuse all their moves(good or bad) ...If the people you like gets there...they will face the same problem
The report was submitted, sir.

Oshundun said, “Constitutionally, there is a provision of the Trade Union Act (Section 37, Subsection 1) that says every year ASUU must render an account of money remitted to the body. All ASUU members get a monthly deduction, which is usually given to ASUU every month to run their secretariat.

“They are also to submit an audited report of this money every year, but for four consecutive years, ASUU didn’t do that.

“The ministry wrote to ASUU, asking them why they haven’t submitted the audited report of monies collected for four years. ASUU got that letter and didn’t respond to it. They didn’t even write to acknowledge the receipt of the letter. A reminder letter was subsequently sent to ASUU, which was also ignored.

“Then the ministry decided that the check-off amount due, deducted by IPPIS for November, should not be released to ASUU. So, when they respond and explain how they spent the money released, the money held by IPPIS will be released to them.”

But Bolarin faulted the ministry’s position on the audit report.

He insisted that ASUU submitted the said report.

If after the ASUU Chairman was informed that ASUU is yet to submit its audited report for 4 years shocked and he could not provide a contrary evidence and the mediocre journalist still could not demand from the ASUU chairman for proof of acknowledgement of the report he claimed was submitted then I really do not see why ASUU members should keep their current leaders in office.

Everything is so horribly wrong with ASUU that it is so disgraceful that such a body of folks who should be intellectuals are so intellectually inferior to the govt's team. ASUU so far lacked the right strategy and moral authority to take on govt. This is so so embarassing.

I am sure that within ASUU some members would have been complaining about their seemingly mediocre leadership and must have been protesting against the missteps of their leadership but they should not stop at that, they should elect new set of leaders who understand the seriousness of the responsibility upon ASUU members as intellectuals.
They did sir. The attached is a video interview granted by Falana in that regard.

It costs PMB nothing to behave like GEJ and sign but not fulfil it and pass it to the next admin..The reality now is FG can not even afford the N1.3 trillion and if ASUU keeps on strike for ever it makes no difference on the FG revenue.

- It is either mischief or ignorance that can make you believe that N1.3 trillion we are talking about was spread across 5 years (220B annually) & that Nigeria can not afford 220B annually to fund about 120 public universities accommodating over 1.7million students.

- You are passionately ignorant about what you're saying.

- How do you justify about 300B school feeding program (even during COVID) while the entire Education budget is 109B?

- How do you justify 6.3Trillion petroleum subsidy this year alone, even when the PMS are less available and more expensive?

- How do you justify a singular theft of crude oil at over 300Billion dollars under a retired military head of state who doubles as the Minister of Petroleum?

- How do you justify the 1.9Billion Dollars funded rail project to Maradi in Niger while our universities can't get 220B naira?

- How do you rationalize the recovered Abacha loots that have gone to the winds?

- How do you explain the unaccounted utilization of all the recovered loots when this administration just started?

- How do you justify a stagnant 13 years salary of University academics with a promise to increase it by 30k in 2023?

True daughter with the beauty and brain of the Bayero family and Princess of the Kano Royal Emirate, you have done us all proud as Nigerians. Having a First Class in Architecture is by far no mean feat, you are a Genius.
Congratulations. Keep flying high.

We need more of you in this country to help mentor more girls to aim for the best in life.

My appeal to those hating on her because of their hate for Buhari is that they should know that this brilliant lady was not educated with President Buhari's money and if you spend all idle time on social media hating on others out of envy, ignorance and bigotry, you will not amount to anything worthwhile in life.

Having spent years to complete her degree, she could not have been responsible for ASUU strike of this year nor your obvious inadequacies fuelled by hate, bigotry, laziness and unrestrained addiction to idleness on the social media.

Nobody who wants to get a First Class will be lazy, unstudious and waste time idlying away insulting and trolling others as much as you do on social media. In fact, folks like her will not be like you checking updates every hour on Ig, Facebook, whatsapp, Twitter, Nairaland etc. To earn a First class takes a whole lot of self discipline and sacrifice. Learn that from her at least , quit your laziness and idle unproductive time wasting lifestyle online and offline today so you can live a disciplined and successful life.

Success always leaves a trail and here is one; you do what successful people do you become successful and when you do what failures do you end up even as a horrible failure blaming everyone except himself for failing in life.

In your small mind, the reaction is "hating" on the progress of the young lady? That clearly defines who you are & what you stand for.

This lady's graduation was deliberately posted on a PUBLIC platform to elicit PUBLIC reactions. Why complain? It was never a mistake neither was it going to attract praises. The graduand whose celebration is, unfortunately, being sliced on the alter that her family has placed it (social media) is not at fault. Whoever placed it in public domain at a frail & emotional time for young people like her in Nigeria is to blame.

Meanwhile, not all people on social media are lazy, failures, & dumb. Always remember you are a Nigerian before any emotional affiliation.
