Sango and it's environs are very challenging, it is quite advisable to carryout a geophysical and hydrogeological investigation at the site so as to determine the depth of the underground water, the quality of the underground water, the rate of aquifer recharge, etc. Kindly let me know when your ready so that we can discuss it further.

I decided to lay everything on the table for you to take an appropriate decision. Is difficult for me to categorically tell you to do this or do that. I can only guide you in taking a favourable decision, a lot depends on you and how badly you need water at that particular site. I advice you to have a written agreement with whoever that will drill the borehole for you and don't commit all the funds into his hands at once. There is nothing wrong in trying, you could still get the daily quantity of water you need from there, is not impossible. Moreover, you need to engage the services of a Geologist so as to effectively discriminate the soil samples from the different geological formations.

No they didn't. I only know that a next door neighbor is harvesting water from their "low yield" site. I don't assume that my case will be alike, though. Please enlighten me. Thanks.

When it comes to underground water extraction, we always pay very serious attention to the aquifer production and rate of recharge. The Geophysical team through the help of a geophysical and hydrogeological investigation, helps us to locate the productive aquifer within the confined aquifer zone of the underground water. Therefore, in this particular instance, we are concerned with the rate of production, is important to note that the rate of fresh water production and extraction varies from one aquifer to the other in the same locality. They recommended the use of 0.5horse power submersible pump in the borehole and that is the smallest pump in the market, it is designed to be used in wells with very low aquifer production. There is equally something we call rate of draw down in water extraction, if a pump of higher capacity is installed in a well with low aquifer yield, it could dry up the well and the submersible pump could burn in the process.

ANALYSIS OF RESULT
6.1​The result of the vertical electrical sounding (VES) carried out at the above named locations showed a total of five (5) Geoelectric layers. The first layer has apparent resistivity of 1519.8 ohm-m and thickness of 2.5 meters, the second layer has apparent resistivity of 37.7 ohm-m and thickness of 14.6 meters, the third layer has apparent resistivity of 81.5 ohm-m and thickness of 25.8 meters, the fourth layer has apparent resistivity of 32.5 0hm-m and thickness of 70.9 meters while the fifth layer has apparent resistivity of 839.8 0hm-m with an indeterminate thickness.
RECOMMENDATION
7.1​From the above findings and discussions, domestic borehole depth of 95 meters (312ft) to 115 meters (377ft) is recommended to be drill at the above named location. The borehole yield will be very low due to low recharge hence a pump of low capacity of say 0.75 to 1.5HP should be installed in the borehole with automatic regulator for efficient management of the water because the yield may be low.

Did you notice the part that talked about low yield? Is important I get your perspective on the meaning of low yield. Did they explain to you the actual meaning of low yield in fresh water aquifer production?. I am patiently waiting for your response.

I will need to know the exact hydrogeological and geophysical information as contained in the geophysical survey report. You may perhaps go through the last page of the report you have with you and tell me the information on the last page, where you have recommendations or something like that.

It's not like the borehole dried up. The tap control was leaking for some time and after it was fixed, the leaked water dried up leaving the bluelike stain or residue. Thanks

Thank you for getting back to me, the borehole actually requires servicing and during the borehole servicing, adequate care should be taken in other not to damage the screen of the borehole. It is only when this is done that we can actually determine if there are issues with the casing pipes or the screen if the same problem continue to reoccur. Borehole maintenance is a periodic requirement which ensures that you continue to get the best results from your borehole. Thanks a million.

Borehole does not even need to dry up in the first place, I wonder why your borehole dries up and from the way you stated it, it seems you people now see it as a normal thing for it to dry up at a certain time. The blue residue you talked about is not normal as well. It maybe important for you to furnish me with the location of this borehole and the depth so as to help you sort out some of the issues. Thanks alot for the heads up. I don't think he did any geographical analysis before drilling proper. Guess I'll have to keep pumping out like he said to see if it eventually gets clean. But if I don't get any positive results, then I'll probably need to hire a more experienced person to finish the job.

I v this recently drilled a borehole n it's been pumping dirty water. The guy that drilled it said I should keep pumping out d dirty water that it'll get clean with time. I've been pumping 4 like a week now with little improvement. Now my questions are;
1. Are recently drilled borehole water dirty from inception and
2. If so, how long do u think it'll take before the water gets clean?

Thanks a lot for your questions, let me start by answering the first one, immediately you finished drilling, the next thing to be done is installation of the submersible pump as the case may be, but sometimes, you may need to wait for some days before the installation proper, this is to enable the screens to open up properly, allow the gravel packing to set in very well, etc. Yes, the initial pumping is expected to be dirty, that is anticipated, but it does not take eternity for the water to become clean, from few hours to maybe one or two days or a little above that. Again, there are important factors that must be taken into consideration, what is the nature of underground water in that location? Is the underground water contaminated? Was the borehole drilled to the confined fresh water aquifer? That is why we advice that professionals who knows their onions should handle borehole drilling projects, because they will be able to differentiate the geological formations and ascertain the confined productive fresh water aquifer. The second question has to do with duration, like I said earlier, it doesn't take long at all, in most cases, as you are doing the borehole development, the water may even become clean. So, I may not know the exact factor that is making the water not to come out clean as it should bearing in mind some of the issues I highlighted above. Some of the major reasons are to ascertain the geological formations, determine the depth of the productive fresh water aquifer as well as the quality of the underground water.
