AMVCA gave it two awards, best writer and actress. I was referring to the former. As for the later, I can't vividly remember how she handled that script.
Ah fair enough, thanks

Please learn to cook basics. Women were not born with cooking pots and spoons. We learned them. It is a skill anyone can acquire.

I can see people suggesting a girl coming to cook for you. You mean as a teen in university, I will be cooking for one small boy with 3 boxers, rather than reading my books? My parents sent me to school, to cook for you, because your own parents couldn’t teach you something so basic?

Then after eating the food, you will now use the energy to start looking for how to hang her leg for knacking. Learn to cook the basics or use your school’s cafeteria.
Oh Lawd grin

I guess unlike any other naija movie, u know, filled with comedy nd stuff, its a straight up movie addressing a major problem in the society, the award was as a result of this. Most ladies/parent don't know that having experience sexual violence at tender age increases ur sexual urges/need(females). There was an American version of it, forgot the title.
I really liked the plot and thought the movie had potential

I thought she got the award for her acting

I remember that the mentioned "alter ego" in the movie, but the whole concept wasn't even well explained so I kept asking why even being it up?
Another thing that bothered me about the movie was the abuse of drone shots. Almost all outdoor scenes had a drone shot which became quite irritating after a while.

It's been long since I watched the movie sha.
You know once Naija gets onto a new trend we must overdo it grin grin

Alter Ego - 3.6/10

The storyline itself had soooo much potential, I thought they had some good ideas but it was executed very poorly. Pacing was rushed, they were just jumping from scene to scene with minimal explanation resulting in a very choppy and confusing flow. Too many 'big' events occurring, with no fleshed-out explanation for why and how we got there lol, throughout the movie I was like 'just like that?'

And I like Omotola but I found her acting only slightly better than terrible...too forced, how tf did she win that AMVCA award for it (lol who am I kidding, we know these things are more about politics than merit)

I'm disappointed because the plot idea itself was genuinely good lol

I watched it last year, downloaded from 9jarocks dot com but I can't really remember if the quality was good or poor or manageable. Nollywood movies pic quality from the site is hit or miss for old movies. cry

You can use Irokotv it's been touted as the Netflix of Africa. It's got tons of Nollywood content and some other African industry movies. But you'll pay just like Netflix. It's the best bet for better and clearer quality.

Modified: ok seems you already got help. wink
I've got Irokotv but couldn't find it there either, but I've got it now, thank you smiley

Anyone know where to stream or download Alter Ego (2017 Nollywood film)?

I don't even mind paying, saw it was on Amazon prime but it 'isn't available in my location' sad
FamilyRe: Bride Price Or Marriage List:which Is Worse? by ibkayee(f): 8:51pm On Jun 27, 2020
Even if the marriage list is scrapped, they can still recuperate the loss via the bride price, they will still get what they’re after so I don’t really see much of a difference

I am sorry is a deep statement that can water down a seriously boiling adrenaline.

Apology saves a lot and it's healthier.
Can't see myself giving an apology that isn't warranted just to keep peace
FamilyRe: How Do One Control One's Mouth Even When One Is Extremely Angry? by ibkayee(f): 5:37pm On Jun 27, 2020
Sometimes I compare whatever's happened to the grand scheme of life and things that are worse, and then suddenly I can't be bothered to 'flare-up' lol

It's not necessarily a perfect method and it's also very situation-dependent but I've found it useful at times

Yeah, I thought of that too.

I scold my gf when I shout at her and she walks out on me. So scrap out the former advise.

If you have temper issues, and being shouted at by an elder, try your best not to say anything please, the words will come out the wrong way, and will flare things up in a worse way.

Don't step out either, it is equal to disrespect.

Best thing is to apologise, it will calm his voice down, affording you some silence from him which eats you up. He will also appreciate that you apologised and accord you more respect.
If you mean apologizing just for the sake of keeping the peace, even if you genuinely aren't in the wrong, is this healthy? Do you think there are other healthier ways to pacify the situation?

My parents aren't really the 'beating' types, most they'd do is 'scold' me and ask me if I think it's acceptable etc

Well summarized personal experience OP.
Might be personal for you but it’s true in many cases except a few examples.

My daughter doesn’t know she’s American yet.
Her first identity if Nigerian. If you ask her she will say “I’m Nigerian”. When she’s older she’ll learn she’s American as well.
First things first.
Lol!

I recall always subconsciously identifying as Nigerian before British, it's only now that I 'remember' that I am technically British lol

Lol it means 'coward' in the context of the song (I think it was a diss song towards Murder Inc.) although the lyrics are explicit sha

But he likely thought it meant the other thing lol
