I have two observations:
1. Just like someone already mentioned. Your answers were too generic. When asked what you are going to study, you could have chipped in the content of your course. For example, I'll be studying Information technology at Valparaiso University. Indiana, where I'll be learning the modus operandi of information dissemination or management by taking courses in blahblah....

2. Based on reading previous transcripts, I can say the VO already made his or her decision after your response about your sponsor. And, by the way, you didn't drop your COA and your Deficit. Maybe you have alot of Deficit. When asked who will sponsor you, you should talk about who is sponsoring you, what he's doing, how much he's earning, staff strength, and maybe why he's sponsoring you. You shouldn't have waited for the VO to ask you what your Dad does. For example, my lovely Dad will be sponsoring or covering my Deficit. He's a real estate developer, and cofounder of.... With a combined staff strength of 15, and an annual income of about 40million naira. He deals in purchase and sales of landed property, and also have houses for rent etc.

3. Add this observation too... It's still on who is sponsoring you. You finished your first degree in 2014, I'm guessing you'll be around 30+, and you must have been working for awhile. It raises a kind of red flag of your Dad is still the one sponsoring you. You could have added that, 'in addition to my Dad's sponsorship, I also have a savings of around 5million, which have saved over the years of working'.

Wishing you all the best!

My sister just got accepted at georgia southern university for fall semester.

I would like to know more about the next steps, i.e., what documents are needed to get to the embassy interview stage.

Thank you all in advance.

I'm also in this category. I applied on 18/04/2023 and got the same message. I mailed them immediately and they replied told they would review and revert. I think this situation only affects Lagos applicants.

Hello Chief, can you please share their email address. Mine is getting close to two weeks too.

I am sorry in advance because my question may appear stupid.
Anyway, my younger sister applied for BSc political science in the US. She has been offered admission. The tuition fees appears reasonable so I've accepted to sponsor her. Her resumption date is this August. House, can she meet up, please?

What are the next step for her. We have no idea of how to go about it or if she will even get interview date before August.

Any help will be appreciated, thanks.

After admission (and funding for those who need it), and you've decided where you want to go:

✅ Request for your i-20 from your school - this can be coloured or black and white as long as it's authentic. You'll usually supply details of passport page, ability to cover cost like funding letter or bank statement, etc. for this.

✅ Get the i-20. I'll suggest you request the e-copy even if the school wants to send hardcopy, so that you can use the details to book your visa interview while awaiting the hard copy. A4 printed of i-20 is acceptable at embassy. After i-20, the next 3 items can be in any order.

✅ Start filling your DS-160 form online at https://ceac.state.gov/genniv/ . You can use this video as a guide when filling it: https://www.facebook.com/287980197932222/videos/318718789713853

✅ Create a CGI profile at https://www.ustraveldocs.com/ng/ng-niv-appointmentschedule.asp and pay for your visa fee. It costs $160 or the naira equivalent with GT Bank, and book your date at your desired location if an available one shows.

✅ Pay Sevis fee. You can create a coupon at fmjfee.com but someone in the US has to pay it for you. It costs $350, but there might be a $10 processing fee and people's dollar rates differ. So expect a wide range when converted. To be safe, the payment must be confirmed at least 72 hours prior to your interview.

✅ Prepare for your interview and ace it.✌🏻

✅ Book your flight. This can be done directly with the airline or a third party - I suggest a layover time of at least 2 hours at your port of entry (POE). While you should be careful with choosing a third party, they can be cheaper than direct airline bookings. However, prices largely vary depending on length of flight and layovers, class of flight (economy, business, etc.) and baggage size - check your airline baggage requirements. Economy flights are the cheapest, and flights generally get more expensive if you book it quite close to your departure date.

Good luck from Johanson.😊

No fear, they will get back to you. Just keep tab on the email attached to the portal. Better still you can reach out to cgi via call or email to help you fasten the process (if possible).

It's not possible to 'fasten' process. I tried to call them today, they told me to wait till I'm approved.

I started my date search in February, I couldn't a closer date Until Mid March. The First date I got was September 18,then I kept hunting for it until I got April 4th and the reason I was able to get that date was because the Abuja Embassy released massive slots

Hope Lagos will release massive slots soon too sad

Currently, 11th October 2023. I've been checking for an earlier date to pick, but haven't found so far.
I plan on opting for emergency approval when it's 2months prior to my resumption date (19th August).

Wow, is it true they free up closer dates sometimes?

Guys, I found sevpay to collect 266,400 for my SEVIS fee (takes a month to process) and pay4me to collect 284,590. My interview date isn't close.
I plan on using sevpay cos it's cheaper. Are they legit? Anyone used them before?

When is your interview date, and when did you chose the date?

Hello everyone. So, I've been trying to fill my ds160 for awhile now, and I've been so frustrated. I've tried different browsers. It takes time before I'm able to retrieve my application, then once I do, and I'm filling the form, once I click save, it takes me back to the homepage, or it says session time out. Am I the only one experiencing this?
