I saw prixxy7 and her co-amigos up front but I was stuck in THAT line, you know what line (the blue and white one). I was there from 2-5.

I wish Nigerians are able to open their eyes
and avail themselves with reality.

I once had to “manage” a group of Dutch
advisers who were to be with our firm for a
year.

In summary when one was leaving he told

only came here because it was good for my
career. I was scared stiff.

However I love Nigeria, Lagos is safer than

perceptions driven by the news cycle.

not suprising people perceive Nigeria as Boko
Haram, it’s a valid perception.

I was shocked to see Sudan on TV years ago
on Al jazera with green neighborhoods and

Sudan was starving kids in Dafour.

I was shocked to also find out there was a
Jew in the Iran parliament and that Jews
have a community in Iran. All I knew about
the Iran were Mullahs, and “death to America
and Israel” News drives perception, and
perceptions stick. News is
just reported reality, it’s not the whole
reality. In effect what we have as news is an
editors perception of reality. Valid but i say
that to context things.

I recall a program that showed Americans
pictures of Detroit, some American argued it
was Lebanon or Sarajevo or some war
inflicted capital not some city in the US, but
some parts of Detriot look like Lebanon after
the civil war, we don’t know because it’s not
reported by the news.

There are more Kidnapping in Arizona than
the Niger Delta, more deaths by handguns
from gang warfare in Chicago than Borno.
Yes Borno (WEF says 5000 people have been
killed in Chicago since 2001 based on
Department of Defense and FBT data) again,
ask about Chicago and you may see
skyscrapers. Perceptions.

guests, President is travelling, or Nigeria
seems to be gathering positive momentum.

The folks controlling BH understand
perception and as long as they can replace
The World Economic Summit with kidnapped
girls, then Boko Haram is working.
I sometimes sit back and imagine the

investment that would have poured into
Nigeria if we didn’t have these senseless
violence and killings. The good thing is
perceptions can be changed via hard
work.

“Made in Taiwan” was once perceived as
inferior to “made in Great Britain”
Brazil was once a byword for corruption and a
destination for fugitives to run to
Folks we are in for a bumpy ride.
Nigerians have to work to change the
perception of Nigeria, it’s our problem and we
can fix it!

aircom: well dear..d criteria on how NYSC carry out their posting still sorta freaks me out..tho every corper in my ppa studied electricity related fields..I av dis homie..We go way back, we graduated 4rm d same university, were in the same platoon, studied Mech Engineering only 4 him to get posted to a private primary schl..An Engineering Graduate. So prixxy d odds re unexplainable buh some corpers dat read something related 2 ur field got posted to NAFDAC, Ministry of health and Medical agencies..But what I suggest u do is be among d first 500 or 600 to register come Sept 1st or 3rd as ur case may be..yeah my guy registered late am guessin dats why he found himself in d classroom caz all d slots in the ministries or firms related 2 his course were already taken..dats d only reasonable explanation I can deduce...May d Lord continue 2 favor us all..

Mannylex: I was thinking along this line... But I dont think staying in camp for 8 days uninvited is such a good idea... From what I heard, we would come 2 weeks after registration to collect our PPA posting, this means at that time we would all converge the same day, irrespective of geopolitcal zone... We can then contact each other and take pictures on that day... Hang around in Mami, catch the fun we want... We could also have fun outside camp maybe during the weekend, in a beach or any hangout, yeah still putting on our khaki and then we could come along with our white and white also and take photos.... We could create our own fun! Camp is about making new friends, taking photos, more photos and lots of photos... We've made friends here on nairaland already, lots of them. Watz left is how we converge and catch the fun we so desire..(I know this might be a bit difficult for those not residing in lag or dont have anyone here, but if u can make it, it would be lovely)...... Who is with me on this??

Askmydas: I don't think the suspension of both primary & secondary sch is enough reason why NYSC should come into such resolution. Let's be realistic here, there's more to what they said. I believe they used the opportunity of d directive given by the fed. Govt in avowing d suspension of d resumption of all sec & primary schs.
I guess they don't want to avow the truth behind the reason why the orientation won't be conducted. Come to think of it, if the reason will cause fear & panic amongst prospective corpers (Ebola), they wouldn't want that to happen. Rather they'll come up with flimsy excuses.
Abeg any SOUTH-SOUTH prospective corper dey dis house?
