A 200-level undergraduate of the Faculty of Science, University of Portharcout, Rivers State, identified as Ifeanyi Dike, has been arrested for allegedly killing a 7-year-old girl named Victory Chikamso.

It was revealed that the Imo State indigene lured Chikamso into his room, killed and collected the part he needed, while the young girls family were searching for her, yesterday. The suspect was however caught when he went discard her carcass.

Sanitation officers at the refuse dump he went to, confronted him and search him only to find a dead body butchered. They raise alarm and discovered it was that of missing Chikamso. He has since been given over to the policemen from Okporo police headquarters.

REKADO BANKS DEPRESSED AFTER BEING DEPRIVED OF VISA AND WORK PERMIT TO PERFORM IN THE UK


Nigerian singer, Rekado Bank is at the moment depressed following a series of set back in his quest to headline a concert in the UK. The singer had taken to twitter earlier today to announce to his fans that he's depressed.


The 'problem' singer is depressed because he was denied a visa and work permit to perform in the UK reports Linda Ikeji's blog.

The recently established task force on uncensored and unclassified movie by the National Film and Video Censors, have arrested three presumed pirates namely Ndu Celestine, Okechukwu Ikuagwu and Austine Ugokwe, for running a N50-million worth of film piracy syndicate at the Alaba International market in Lagos.

They were arrested following a series of petition to the National film and censored board by retailers from the Northern part of the country who they had supplied movies to.

The reallocated movies and imitating machines evaluated to be worth more than 50-million naira have been store at Area E.

The President of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, Comrade Biodun Ogunyemi has declared a nationwide strike to commence today ( Monday ) , this was confirmed at the National Executive Council, NEC meeting held in University of Abuja at the weekend.

According to Ogunyemi in a document titled, “Strike Bulletin No.1”, the strike is to be a total, comprehensive and indefinite action whereby no form of academic activities, including teaching, attendance of any meeting, conduct and supervision of any examination at any level, supervision of project or thesis at any level should take place at any of the nation’s universities.

In the bulletin signed by Ogunyemi, it was recalled that ASUU had to embark on a six month strike between July and December 2013 and the strike was suspended when government signed an MoU with the union.

“Of all the items contained in the MoU, only the N200b out of a total of N1.3tr of the Public Universities Revitalisation (Needs Assessment) fund was released,. The union also embarked on a one week warning strike in November 2016 to press for the implementation of 2013 MoU. However government did not implement the understanding reach between the union and Federal Government base on the intervention by the leadership of Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria”.

Stating further, Ogunyemi said “The union has also met with the 2009 Agreement Implementation Monitoring Committee, IMC, and had written several letters press releases and communiqués on the outstanding issues to no avail. The National Executive Council, NEC, of ASUU then met at the University of Abuja on August 12, 2017 to consider the result of a referendum from all branches in a bid to ascertain ways of convincing government to implement outstanding aspects of the 2009 and the MoU of 2013”.

Ogunyemi listed the outstanding issues with the Federal Government to include: payment of fractions/non-payment of salaries; non-payment of earned academic allowances, non releases of operational license of NUPEMCO; non implementation of the provisions of the 2014 pension reform act with respect to retired professors and their salaries, removal of universities staff schools from funding by government and funds for the revitalisation of public universities.

A lady named Halima has been nabbed by the Adamawa state police for stabbing her husband, Ibrahim Ishmail to death at their home in Numan town on Thursday August tenth.

As per Rariya, Ibrahim had gone to the market to purchase food stuffs for his wife to cook. On his arrival, he found out that she had gone out without informing him. He went out and afterward when he returned home, he met her cutting Okro. They got into an argument when he asked her why she went out without informing him. During the heated argument, Halima used the knife she had in her hand to stab Ibrahim. His remains has been deposited at the state mortuary.
