Manchester United and England Legend, Gary Neville has made a bold claim on the rivalry between two London heavyweights, Arsenal and Chelsea. The former Manchester United defender, said on sky sports after Arsenal's 2-2 draw with Manchester city, that Arsenal are a much bigger and better club than Chelsea.


The 42-year-old Neville, made the claim despite Arsenal enduring arguably their most disappointing season under the tutelage of Arsene Wenger, which has irked the anger of their supporters. While Chelsea on the other hand are chasing a second league title in 3 seasons.


“This is a better club than Chelsea,” Gary Neville said on Sky Sports after Sunday’s draw with Manchester City.
“Why wouldn’t players come and play here? Look at this stadium, it’s unbelievable.
“Chelsea are a fantastic club but you’ve got to say, even Chelsea fans wouldn’t argue that Arsenal are a bigger club than them.
“Arsenal are a bigger club than Chelsea. They are, it’s a fact.

“That’s not a criticism of Chelsea. Chelsea are a club that’s really only grown in the last 10 or 15 years. They’ve done brilliantly well.

A 12-year-old boy, known as Aminu has died after allegedly facing multiple counts of sexual abuse from a man named Abubakar, a tea seller in Ngwayanma, in the Kontagora area of Niger State.


According to the Dailypost The said Abubakar abducted the 12-year-old Aminu from his parents in March, held him hostage in his apartment and allegedly had anal sex with the boy for two weeks, until the victim fell ill.

According to reports a neighbor raised the alarm and reported Abubakar to the police, at the Kontagora division, which led to his arrest.


A resident told the Punch that “The boy’s parents suddenly discovered that he was missing and asked for his whereabouts from his friends, who denied knowledge of his whereabouts. Afterwards, a case of abduction was reported to the police. That was early March.

“A man alerted us two weeks later that he saw Aminu with Maishai (Abubakar). The suspect initially denied that the boy was in his custody. The boy was later found in his apartment in a critical condition. He looked tired and pale. Maishai confessed he had sex with him several times.

“The police were called to arrest him and Aminu was rushed to a hospital. He eventually died last week. The parents do not want to talk about the incident for now; they are devastated.”

Niger State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Elkana James, confirmed Aminu’s death, saying that the case had been transferred to the command headquarters in Minna.

He added that the suspect would be re-arraigned on a fresh charge of culpable homicide.

He said, “Our legal team is reviewing the sentence. When the suspect was charged to court, the boy was not dead. So, he was charged with abduction and unnatural offences.



“He and the boy, aged 12, lived within the same vicinity.

“He abducted him for two weeks and abused him during the period.

“Now that the boy is dead, we have a liberty to charge him with culpable homicide. That will be an additional charge.


“He is still in prison, serving the one month’s imprisonment. Once the new charge is filed, he would be reproduced to take his plea.”

The World Football Governing Body, FIFA, has agreed on a proposed allocation slot for the 48 Nation World Cup which is set to begin with the 2026 edition of the tournament.

According to a report published on the official FIFA'S website, The recommendation will now be submitted for the ratification of the FIFA Council, whose next meeting is scheduled for 9 May in Manama, Bahrain, two days prior to the 67th FIFA Congress.

Controversial US trained journalist Kemi Olunloyo and a Port Harcourt based journalist, Walson Samuel have both been granted bail by by a magistrates' court in River State.



The two journalist and publishers, are both facing multiple charges for publishing defamatory and malicious story against the General Overseer of Salvation Ministry, Pastor David Ibiyeomie.


Chief Magistrate, Alatuwo Elkanah Fubara, in his ruling granted the two accused media practitioners bail in the sum of two hundred thousand Naira with credible sureties who reside in Port Harcourt. In addition to that he also struck out one of the charges on cyber crime against Kemi Omolulu Olonloyo for lack of jurisdiction to try the matter as The matter has been adjourned to May 4 for hearing.

Renown Nigerian oil Magnate, Ifeanyi Ubah has been arrested and detained by the Department of State Service (DSS). The reason for his arrest is yet to be disclosed by the crime fighting body, but there are reports linking his arrest to oil theft, given that he had once been incriminated in an oil fraud saga with the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, which He was accused of embezzling funds from an illegal sale of crude oil saved in his facility.

Maria Burendi, the Kenyan, said she left her home in Alistonia society at 6.15am to collect an African wig and some food from a friend at DPS Society.

On the way, she said the cab was stopped at 6.30am near the Omicorn roundabout by 10-12 men who then beat her up.
“They stopped the car and asked me to get out,” Maria told TOI over the phone.
“When the cabbie and I stepped out, they started slapping me saying that Nigerians are bad. When I said that I was a Kenyan, one of the guys asked them to stop and they relented,” she said.

“I was not expecting this. I wanted to buy some food items but could not. Later I thought I could collect my African hair wig from my friend’s place in Greater Noida. It was then that the attack took place,” she said.
However, police later in the evening said her version was doubtful. They said they nabbed the cab driver and when he was questioned, he denied any such incident happened.
Greater Noida is a town just about 30 kms from the Indian capital of New Delhi.

At least two people have lost their lives to water poisoning after drinking water from a contaminated stream in Oboso Community in Mbube clan, Ogoja Local Government Area of Cross River State, with 40 others seriously ill and receiving treatment from the various health facilities in Ogoja and its neighbouring communities.

According to local sources, the strange ailment started on Friday in the community and two other neighbouring communities sharing the contaminated stream, as the affected communities has been thrown into a state of mourning and uncertainty.

Reacting to the development through a press statement, the State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Inyang Asibong, said, “The attention of the Ministry of Health had been drawn to cases of strange illness characterised by sudden onset of vomiting, foaming in the mouth, body weakness and spitting out of blood with some deaths already recorded in three communities in Ogoja Local Government Area of the state that share a common water source.”

The Commissioner assured all that the ministry of health is doing all within its power to get to the root cause of the occurrence and has dispatched a team made up of epidemiologists, doctors, community health workers and other related health staff members to the affected communities to ascertain the real situation on ground and offer immediate medical assistance to those affected.
The Director General of the State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Dr. Betta Edu, who also commented on the incident appealed to the affected communities to immediately stop fetching water from the contaminated stream.


“People should buy commercial water for now. Even after buying the commercial water, bottle or pure water, they should still try to boil it before drinking. They should be careful of where they eat for now, because if that poisoned water is used to prepare food it could still be dangerous. The community should be careful for now. If they have relatives in other areas, they can move there for now. We are on top of the situation. Those who are ill by the poisoning and in the hospital would get their treatment taken care of by the government,” she said.

The Ministry of Finance, says it has so far received 2,351 tips from whistleblowers bordering on cases of embezzlement of government funds, looting of assets and contract inflation, among others.

In a statement signed by Mr Festus Akanbi, the Special Adviser, Media to the Minister of Finance, Mrs Kemi Adeosun said the tips came via text messages, calls, email and forms filled on the ministry’s website.

“We have received 95 feedbacks through our website, www.whistle.finance.gov.ng, 1,550 tips came through calls on 09098067946 and SMS, 412.

“Also, 194 people sent us emails on whistle@finance.gov.ng)

He said that out of the 2,351 tips, the office was currently following up on 154, it deemed actionable.

“Some of the tip include: contract inflation and conversion of government assets to personal use, ghost workers, payment of unapproved funds and embezzlement of salaries of terminated personnel.

“Also, improper reduction of financial penalties, diversion of funds meant for distribution to a particular group of people, especially farmers and diversion of funds to personal commercial bank accounts to earn interest.

“Further more, we are following up on cases of non-Remittance of pension and NHIS deductions, failure to Implement projects for which funds have been provided, embezzelment of funds received from Donor agencies and violation of TSA regulations by keeping funds in Commercial banks.

” We are also looking into violations of FIRS (VAT) regulation by adjusting Value Added Tax payment, non-procurement of equipment required for Aviation Safety, money laundering and diversion of funds meant for approved projects,” he said.

Akanbi said that top on the Minister’s agenda, as the Chairman of the Whistleblower programme was to investigate illegal sale of government assets, diversion of revenue (IGR), concealed bailout funds, Illegal recruitment and violation of procurement Act.

It will be recalled that late last year, the Federal Government set up the Whistleblower programme to make it easy for the public to give information bordering on violation of financial regulations, mismanagement of public funds and assets and other financial malpractice.

The Federal Government promised any whistleblower whose information leads to the recovery of up to N1 billion Naira, five per cent of the amount.

While for any amount between N1 billion and N5 billion, the whistleblower stands to get 4 per cent commission. Any amount over N5 billion, will attract 2.5 per cent reward.

At least seven people have lost their lives after a series of bomb blasts hit the city of Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State yesterday.
According to channels tv the blasts occurred early on Wednesday morning at an Internally Displaced Persons camp located at Muna garage.



the spokesman of the National Emergency Management Agency, (NEMA) Sani Datti, stated that the attacks were staged by five suicide bombers in three different locations, setting off an inferno which burned down many of the tents used by the IDPs.

The first blast was reported to have taken place at the Muna Kumbori area of the city, and two people were confirmed dead.

The second and third blast were recorded at the Muna Dagalti and muna Bulaya area of the city respectively with one reported to have died in each of the locations.

And even a bigger surprise, another crisis-torn nation, Somalia is Africa’s fifth happiest country ahead of Nigeria and South Africa, ranked 7th. Tunisia is eighth and Egypt ninth, while Sierra Leone is tenth

At the bottom ten are Benin, Madagascar, South Sudan, Liberia, Guinea, Togo, Rwanda, Tanzania, Burundi and the worst of them, Central African Republic.

Countries in sub-Saharan Africa, along with Syria and Yemen, are the least happy of the 155 countries ranked in the fifth annual report released at the United Nations.
“Happy countries are the ones that have a healthy balance of prosperity, as conventionally measured, and social capital, meaning a high degree of trust in a society, low inequality and confidence in government,” Jeffrey Sachs, the director of the SDSN and a special advisor to the United Nations Secretary-General, said in an interview.
The aim of the report, he added, is to provide another tool for governments, business and civil society to help their countries find a better way to wellbeing.
Denmark, Iceland, Switzerland, Finland, Netherlands, Canada, New Zealand, Australia and Sweden rounded out the top ten countries.
Germany was ranked 16, followed by the United Kingdom (19) and France (31). The United States dropped one spot to 14.
Sachs said the United States is falling in the ranking due to inequality, distrust and corruption. Economic measures that the administration of President Donald Trump is trying to pursue, he added, will make things worse.
“They are all aimed at increasing inequality – tax cuts at the top, throwing people off the healthcare rolls, cutting Meals on Wheels in order to raise military spending. I think everything that has been proposed goes in the wrong direction,” he explained.
The rankings are based on six factors — per capita gross domestic product, healthy life expectancy, freedom, generosity, social support and absence of corruption in government or business.
“The lowest countries are typically marked by low values in all six variables,” said the report, produced with the support of the Ernesto Illy Foundation.
Sachs would like nations to follow United Arab Emirates and other countries that have appointed Ministers of Happiness.
“I want governments to measure this, discuss it, analyze it and understand when they have been off on the wrong direction,” he said.
According to the report, “the average ladder scores for over four in five African countries are below the mid-point of the scale. And only two African countries have made significant gains in happiness over the past decade . There are also considerable inequalities in life evaluations in African countries, and this inequality in happiness has increased over the past years” .
The report also shows that Africans are optimistic about the future, with Nigerians the leaders in this regard.
“The majority of African countries rate life at present below the mid-point of the Cantril ladder scale in the latest available Gallup World Poll.
“This is not the case for average future ratings. Projected ladder ratings in five years’ time are uniformly higher than present evaluations across all countries on the continent. In fact, the percentage increase in future expectations of life is often higher among some of the least contented nations.
“Nigeria’s track record of such positive expectations is well documented. Cantril’s 1960s study already reported a difference of 2.6 points between the country’s average present (4. and future (7.4) ladder ratings.
“Similarly, in 2016, there is a difference of 2.9 points between Nigeria’s present (5.3) and future (8.2) ratings in the Gallup World Poll. An international study of comparative ladder ratings in ten countries with large populations, including China, India and the United States, found Nigeria’s 2.6 point difference between present and future ratings to be by far the largest.83 Nigeria’s spirit of optimism may be exceptional by world standards, but not in Africa.”

According to the complainants, the suspect had been parading himself as a police officer and extorting unsuspecting members of the public of their money and other valuables.

The said Man, was arrested under the surulere bridge close to the national stadium. Where he wanted to resume his illegal activities, after the police was told of his criminal activities.

The fake police who had previously worked for the Lagos state government, took to his heels when he spotted the police patrol team coming towards his direction. But he was later caught after the police gave him a hot chase.

The following items were discovered on Olayiwola after the police conducted a thorough search on him, A walkie-talkie, a Lagos State Ministry of Transportation identity card bearing his name, Olayiwola Animashaun and his passport photograph were found in his possession.

He later led the detectives to his house where exhibits like a traffic taskforce reflective jacket, police statement forms, and a matchete were found and recovered.
Confirming the incident, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Olarinde Famous-Cole, advised members of the public to be wary of some individuals who present themselves as government officials or police officers with no proof of official identification.
He also urged Lagosians to alert other security agencies when the need arises to suspect anybody, adding that the impersonator will be charged to court soon after investigation is completed.

A man who is believed to be a doctor has reportedly committed suicide, by drowning himself in the Lagos lagoon at third mainland bridge. The incident reportedly took place on Sunday, 19 of March, afternoon.

According to reports from reliable sources, the said doctor was driven to the spot of his death in his Nissan SUV by his driver, whom he told that he wanted to check something on the body of the car.

The driver unaware of the thoughts going through the mind of his employer, stopped the car only for his boss to come out from the car and jump into the lagoon of the third mainland bridge.


According to the driver, the Doctor was receiving a phone call before he promptly told him to stop the car for him to check something on the body of the car, he then came out and jumped into the lagoon.

The reason behind the Doctor's unexpected action is yet to be uncovered, but his driver and the car has been taking to the police station while officials of the Lagos state Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) and security officers are currently at the scene to retrieve the body of the victim.

Ahead of the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, over 30,000 people have taken to the streets of London to protest the alarming rate at which racism has been growing in recent times following the announcement of Brexit and the Trump's proposed immigration policy.


The 30,000 people started the March in the front of BBC Broadcasting House in Portland Place, before proceeding to Parliament Square where they staged a demonstration.


The policies of US President Donald Trump,and British Prime Minister Theresa May. Were the highlight of the protest as a protester who had served a jail term at the Guantanamo Bay prison called Trump a “bad dude,” eligible for a stay in the infamous prison facility.

Some Protesters also likened the US President to controversial German Figure Adolph Hitler, as placards were spotted at the protest carrying pictures of Trump sporting the famous moustache of the German warlord.

While some protesters were mild in critizing Theresa May and the Brexit, others were however unanimous in criticizing Donald Trump and his immigration policies.

Legendary American rock 'n' roll singer Chuck Berry, has passed away at the age of 90. The guitarist was confirmed dead at about 1.26pm on Saturday by st Charles county police, who responded to an emergency call only to find the veteran singer down as all attempt taken by the police to resuscitate him proved furtile.

Chuck Berry was a force to reckon with in the music world during the '50s and 60s' when he released hit tracks such as "Johnny B. Goode," "Roll Over Beethoven," "Maybellene" etc.

Chuck was also a great guitarist as he was rated as the sixth greatest guitarist the world has ever seen by rolling stone magazine. In 1986 he became the first Rock and Roll star to be inducted into the hall of fame.

A Man has been shot dead after he reportedly grabbed a soldier's gun at orly airport, France. The man was shot dead inside a shop located at the southern terminal of the airport by security operatives


The airport has been shot down and all flights has been put on hold, as serious investigations is being carried out by security operatives with bomb disposal experts also scouting for any possible accomplice.


Reports coming out from the French media, suggests that the man was involved in a recent shooting at the north of Paris. A thorough search on the man revealed that he was not in possession of any explosives.


Officials say the man approached a group of soldiers patrolling the airport and made off with the gun into a shop.
At that point shots were fired and the man was killed. His motivation is not yet known.

The police have warned people to stay clear of the barricade set up at airport for security reasons, as travellers have been advised to make alternative arrangements as all flights have been suspended.

Prominent ex-Biafra warlord and elder statesman, Col. Joe Achuzia, rtd, has declared that it would be a sorry day for Nigeria if anything happens to the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.

Kanu was charged with treasonable felony and has been detained in Kuje prison for over one year.


While insisting on Kanu’s unconditional release, Achuzia noted that the IPOB leader had done nothing and had the right to be free.

He told Sun, “Why we say unconditionally is that there should be no condition attached to his release, he has the right to be freed under the Nigerian law, and a competent court of law has already asked several times that he should be released.

“This issue of Kanu is very intriguing. If something happens to him while in custody, the government would have created a matter and an indelible black mark.

“He should be released unconditionally and given the opportunity to defend himself. If something should happen, it will be a sorry day for the country.”
