A man, was arrested Sunday for allegedly shooting and killing 8 people in Mississippi including a deputy sheriff named William Durr, who have been working for the Lincoln County Sheriff's Department for 2 years, and the Brookhaven Police Department for 4 years prior to his tragic end.

Lincoln Country Sheriff Steve Rushing said that the 35-year-old suspect, Willie Cory Godbolt was caught and arrested Sunday morning after Godbolt supposedly killed 8 people Saturday night in 3 distinct homes.

Pascal Chukwuemeka Nnorom, a staff of Union Bank of Nigeria, has been killed by one Joseph Udoh, Sun reports.

Pascal and his wife of 2 years, Priscilla, were on their way to attend the wedding ceremony of Pascal’s colleague in Elelewon area of Port Harcourt, Rivers State, on Saturday, May 13, 2017, when the incident occured.

Pascal’s journey to his untimely grave began when a Toyota Camry car, driven by one Joseph Udoh, from Anang in Akwa Ibom State, hit his Honda CRV SUV in Oil Mill area of the city, near the Eleme bridge.

The deceased, who hailed from Eziudo Mbaise, Imo State, was said to have alighted from his vehicle and walked over to meet the driver of the Camry. He placed his hand on the door of the Camry, when Udoh allegedly refused to alight from his own car for them to resolve the matter.

Rather, he quickly wound up the glass, trapping Pascal’s hand and then sped off. In a chat with Sun, grieving Priscilla said: “He dragged him several poles before he stopped.”

In the process of draging the victim, his body hit the hard pavement severally. His spinal cord and legs were broken and he became immediately unconscious and later died.

A mob prevent Udoh from escaping. They tortured him and were about to give him jungle justice before he was rescued by policemen. Priscilla described the husband as her best friend. “He was everything to me,” she added, sobbing profusely.

According to the widow, one of the most painful aspects of the death was that her marriage to Pascal was yet to produce a child before his death. “When the mob was beating Udoh, he told them he was ready to die, as far as he had done what he wanted to do,” Priscilla said.

It was gathered that soon after her husband was confirmed dead, Priscilla fainted and had to be revived. Meanwhile, she has appealed to the government and the security agencies to bring her husband’s killer to book. “I want justice,” she said, wailing.

Omoni Oboli, Nollywood actress, says piracy has taken Nollywood movies to far flung places despite its overall adverse effects on the industry.
The ‘Okafor’s Law’ producer made the statement on Wednesday during a panel discussion at the 2017 African Development Bank annual meeting in Ahmedabad, India.

“It’s easier for youths to believe things when a celebrity says something than not, a YouTube video goes to people who are online but majority of the people in Africa are not online. They don’t have access to internet but they watch our movies, our movies go all over Africa,” Oboli said while discussing the option of using social media to promote agriculture.

“My grandmother in the village has never gone on the internet but she has watched a plethora of Nollywood movies. For those people, preaching agriculture using YouTube won’t work. We can use it as well but not instead of.

“Because of piracy, our movies get everywhere; it’s not the best of things in fact we hate it when that happens. One of my movies is being pirated at the moment and it is pulling my hair out but if you really want to pass a message, that helps as well. The police in Rivers State have arrested one Richard Inimgba, for killing his seven - year - old son over alleged stealing .
The suspect , a resident of Amadi - Ama in Port Harcourt, had accused his son, George Inimgba , of stealing N 3 ,200 on Friday and reportedly used a cutlass to inflict cuts on the victim after beating him up with a plank .
George was found dead the following morning.
Starzz hub gathered that George ’s stepmother, Blessing Inimgba, was also arrested by the police for failing to rescue the boy.
It was learnt that Richard had wanted to keep George ’s death a secret, but for a carpenter who raised the alarm on sighting the injuries on the boy.
Richard was said to have secretly invited the carpenter into his apartment to prepare a coffin for his burial .
Some neighbours and relatives of 39 - year-old Richard, popularly known as Oyinbo , told one of our correspondents that he had been maltreating the boy since he sent his mother packing six years ago.
The wife of Richard ’s elder brother , who simply identified herself as K. K . , said George requested water at the point of death, but the father continued the beating.
She said the boy’s attempts to explain that he used part of the money to feed himself because he was hungry fell on deaf ears.
She said, “He beat the boy for about two hours . My husband was not around . The boy was crying and saying , ‘ Daddy, give me water, I cannot walk again. ’
“The boy was saying ‘Sorry Daddy’ and the man continued to ask , ‘ Where is the money ?’ But the boy said he was hungry and used the money to buy bread . He accused the son of stealing N 3 ,200 from him overtime.
“The boy was always hungry and if he came to my house to eat, the stepmother would report him to the father .
“He went to his church to tell the pastor that his child was dead without explaining what led to the little boy’s death. It was when the carpenter raised the alarm that the neighbours knew.

Popular Reggae music artiste, Ras Kimono, is not in a good mood at the moment. And the reason for his disenchantment is not far-fetched. The singer is appalled by the quality of music churned out by young artistes in the industry today.

He told Sunday Scoop, “Music is supposed to be a weapon of social change. A musician is supposed to be a prophet who speaks the truth as it affects everybody in the society. But can you tell me what these young artistes are preaching about. They do nothing but sing about butt, boobs and other mundane things that do not add value to anybody. It is not a bad thing to sing party or dancehall music but there is a problem when 95 per cent of the music out there sound the same and don’t even have any meaning. Most times, I listen to these songs and get angry. Look at the musicians of yesteryears, the songs are still relevant today, decades after they were originally released. But if you listen to a song that was released just last year, you may want to throw up. That’s because those songs have very short life-span. After people dance to it for some time, they dump it in the trash bin of time and move on to the next song. That is not what music is supposed to be about. People still play Fela’s music today because it still has something to offer. Reggae music, which I do, dwells on topical issues bothering the society. I really want the younger artistes to have a change of heart and think of the future; it is very important.”

On how he feels that there is more money in the music industry now than in the days when he held sway, Kimono said, “I do not feel anyhow about that. The only thing constant in life is change. I am happy with the progress that has been made in the music industry. I just want them to improve on the quality of songs out there. Even in our days, we were okay and we travelled round the world to perform. It is more about knowing how to manage what you have and not living above your means. Some artistes may be earning so much today but they could spend the money lavishly and become broke at the end of the day. One must be able to plan his life well and think ahead.”

Ex Army intelligent analyst, Chelsea Manning who was behind one of the biggest arranged data leaks in US history, was released from military jail today.

A resigned Nigerian Judge, Ayotunde Phillips, has been appointed into the recently constituted FIFA Ethics Committee at the Congress of the world football governing body taking place in Manama, Bahrain.

The 68-year-old who studied law at the University of Lagos, was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1974 and spent her necessary National Youth Service Corps year in the then East Central State of Nigeria.

The new FIFA nominee was the fourth female Chief Judge of Lagos State.

She resigned from the High Court Bench in July 2014 upon the achievement of the statutory retirement age of 65 years.

She had by then served the Lagos State Government for a long time out of which 20 years were spent on the High Court Bench.

Justice Ayotunde was the Chairman of the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission until her most recent appointment.

The Nigeria Football Federation has as of now complimented her.

The Federation, through its Twitter account, stated: "Congrats to Nigerian Judge, Justice Ayotunde Phillip who has quite recently been named into the FIFA Ethics Committee."
