I had a similar experience some years back. I stay on my own. I came to spend few days in the family house. A man my dad gave a job to do failed to do it according to specifications, and a quarrel ensued. As the man demanded the balance of the agreed sum, dad got angry. The argument became hot. I was busy in my room. Mum tried to ask my dad to pay him and forget the matter to avoid unnecessary trouble. As mum cornered dad to make the request, dad slapped her, by then the man had left. I heard mum show she was slapped. No other person was there. I was still inside my room. I was so bitter because it was the first time since I was born to ever hear of such slap from dad, yet I did not come out. Thank God other people were not there. I never confronted dad nor consoled mum nor showed I knew. Mum took it calmly and let the matter die naturally. Even though, she knew I was around, she never complained to me and I never asked. They are husband and wife and can always sort themselves, and they did exactly that. Imagine if I had confronted my dad that day. He is much older than 60. If you have your way, go ahead and pack out. Make sure you have counted the cost before you leave. But don't do any thing you will regret. He remains your dad and did not mean to harm you mum.
