I planted okro 3 months ago. I thought okro is okro. So, I just planted without knowing that it was a long variety. My local markets and neighborings town buy short variety. Many markets around me reject the okro because it is too long. In order for the okro farm not to waste, I decided to let them dry up. I have started harvesting the dry okro. But I don't know the market region that will accept the dry ones.

I planted long variety of okro 3 months ago. And it was rejected by my local market.

I Wonder what could be killing water melon.

yes,basal manure application is a must with watermelon,and pls be careful about melon,it's not rugged like cucumbers,it can die anyhow,for me melon is 50/50

koloss F1 watermelon and Hercules F1,two of the best WM variety technisem has ,in a head to head challenge,which on will yield more,bigger,and more adaptable and resistant to disease,we will find out the usual way ,plant and see !!!

Sir does water melon require manure(chicken dropping) in the hole like cucumber before planting?

Its hybrid, kirikou f1 from technisem.
Both are profitable but you need more large space for maize.
Okro is still one of easiest vegetable to cultivate, you make good cash from it during dry season if well done.

There is also availability of market in Warri, depending on your product. one product that will make a kill in the market are okra, pepper,pumpkin and water melon.

well you can plant without manure,it will germinate and if the soil is good,it will boost it for at least 2 weeks before you can apply fertilizer,but I will not advice putting fertilizer before planting ,we have tried that and all the seeds did not germinate,NOTE you can only try the no manure before planting on a fertile soil,if it's our type of soil,hmm!!

I am a corps member(NYSC). I will be rounding up in 3 months time. I don't want to stay idle after my nysc and be waiting for job that might take infinite years to come. So I have decided to go into farming(vegetable). Vegetable need much water. The cost of drilling borehole here in Benin is from 250,000 upward. After drilling the borehole, I will need a very big generator to pump out water because the water level in Benin is very deep. The cost of generator 150,000.
That will be 400k aside PVC pipes and hose.
To drill borehole in warri, I learnt that with 25,000 I will get a working borehole. All I need to pump water from it is just pumping machine which is not more than 40,000.
So, you can see my number 1 challenge farming in Benin region. 400,000 against 65,000 to get a working borehole.
Nevertheless, all things being equal, farming in Benin is far better that warri because Benin land is more fertile, Availability of cheap labour, many markets to market your products, e.t.c

Please I want to know if I can plant without applying organic manure first because I don't have enough of fowl and pig waste at my disposal?
If I use only inorganic fertilizer will i still get the same yield?

if u did not wet planted seeds in this scorching heat the seeds will turn to roasted pop corn, if we plant seed we water it everyday
till it germinated or less the day is full and over cast,if the soil is not wet the germination process will not take place.
