People get their names for different reasons.
I met a man not long ago from Eleme and his last name was Igwe. During our interaction, he told me his family is big and that the name 'Igwe' came about because his great great great grandfather didn't have a Male child for a long time and was desperate.

He had an Igbo trade partner who then took him to a shrine in Igboland called Igwekala. So he promised the shrine that if he is able to bear a Male child with the visit, he would name him after the shrine. Not long afterward, one of his wives got pregnant and gave him a Male child whom he named after the shrine in fulfillment of his vow.

I am sure if any of you happen to meet an Eleme person bearing 'Igwe' as last name, you'll come here and open a thread with the heading "ELEME PEOPLE ARE IGBOS!" "THEY ARE IGBOPHOBIC!" "THEY HATE IGBOS!"
So, this your convenient and shallow reasoning explains why Ikwerre bears Igbo names and speaks the language ??

You Ikwerre people will regret this treachery!!

In the heat of this foreign coach vs local coach argument

A foreign coach in Tanzania had this to say about the locals today cheesy

“I don’t enjoy [Tanzania]. You’re uneducated people. I am disgusted. I don’t have a car, WiFi or DStv. These fans don’t know anything about football. It’s like monkeys or dogs when they’re shouting.”

The disrespect chai
Hope say Rohr get DStv sha
This is so disrespectful. I hope this very coach isn't African

Onyekuru case may be beyond playing in Turkey..
For some reasons I can't understand, Rohr doesn't rate him...

Check the stats of all our current wingers that started playing football 5-6 years ago, Onyekuru has the best goal record among them! He can function on any side of the wing and also as a lone striker or false 9..

E surely get why Rohr doesn't start him.

Personally,I like Onyekuru...I think he has what he take to be like Mane..
A goalscoring winger with good work rate..
According to rumors, Onyekuru is not a team player. And, rightly so Onyekuru reminds me of Vic-Mo just more gifted. The boy would hog the ball and play as if he owns the field

See bro all the players are all averageeeeeee nothing really spectacular about them apart from the fact they're prospect . cheesy grin grin
You nit pick on things that arent relevant. Being an attacking players doesnt not mean you must score goals.
List of SE players that has ability to turn any defence inside out.

Onyekuru.....misused by Rohr
Chukwueze
S.Kalu
Ejuke
Osimbaba
Nacho
Iwobi

Yet , Rohr doesnt understand how to play these boys

Do you just say Good squad huh
Abegiii average squad .
Have listened to many rohr interviews and have studied all of his matches ...rohr is not a poor tactician coz mourihno and simeone plays conservative play does that make them a bad tactician
Rohr plays a conservative counter attack pattern and for this systems to really work you needs a very solid defense that can absorb attack and needs a good linking midfielder that would link up well with your attacker .
No , the squqd Rohr took to 2019 nations cup was not average. I have posted the list. And Rohr doesnt need to play conservatively when you are loaded with explosive attacking players. Rohr will not take you to the promise land. We need offensively oriented tactician.

Nigeria won it in 2013 , it's been seven years now. These players can't play forever....Mba , Emenike, Onazi, Echiejile , Mikel needed replacements.

Your point is not balanced use the team rohr used when he took over the Super eagles then you will see carpenters and bricklayers.
Why would I use players he was just starting with and isnt familiar with them. My assessement was based on the time period he had gotten accustomed to the environment and was expected to hit the ground running.

I won't use the team they played for during WC cox there was preparation for the WC and 90% of the player that went to WC played in WCQ
Iwobi - arsenal prodigy ( still a bench warmer )
2 ndidi - Genk
Moses Chelsea bench warmer started playing when conte came
3.simmy he started the season as a bench warmer but was discovered by rohr after his glorious overhead kick
4. Ebuehi ado een hag
5. Awaziem
Nacho man city prodigy
And you've forgotten the likes of onazi, abdullahi Simon moses ,omerou, agu ,ogu, ighalo,Mikel ,aina, echijile, uzoho, apkeyi were they also playing in Top 5 league in europe most of them are carpenters plying their trades in Israel and Turkish league and the likes of ighalo and Mikel are retired players collecting their pensions in China
You can erase the wc qualifiers and even the world cup if you wish but how would you defend the 2019 nations cup which we went to with an intimidating squad yet Rohr failed woefully , but Keshi used bunch of homebased players and mediocre European league players to lift the trophy.

By the way, Mikel is not a carpenter...Thats a Nigerian legend!

I disagree with this point
There is no difference between the era of rohr and other local coaches Nigeria is always blessed with talents and moreover which talent are you talking about lemme give you some of this players throwback
Kalu-Genk(Belgium)
Moses (Belgium) .
Victor a bench warmer in Chelsea
Osihmen Wolfsburg team b
Chuks Villarreal B
Ndidi - Belgian club
Ekong one small club in eredivise
Balogun - bench warmer in Mainz
Then we had no goalkeeper
Rohr work hard tiredness to make such these players achieve their full potential by making it compulsory for the players to have regular playing time this actually ginger the player to be able for play very well just to earn national team invitations and this really expose the players to scout who saw their potential and moved them to Europe top 5 league it were a local coach in charge of SE osihmen would have been invited while in Wolfsburg and he won't really see the need to move to Belgium league but rohr make it compulsory for osihmen to move to Belgium now Napoli rohr policy really improve this player immensely I remember during the time of local coaches a player may not kick the ball for months and will still be invited is such invitation based on merit ?? Hell no !!!! Rome wasn't build in a day. Football is not just about trophy ( though it important ) but youth development is importanter .
I pray the sport ministry see the great future ahead of us I'm not tipping rohr to win the next afcon or get to the quarter final of the WC yet but if he should continue in this pattern am damn sure Nigeria will be contending for the world cup in the future .
When you write players and clubs they played for you also need to state when they played for the said club that way we will understand when Rohr started using them because I am danm sure Chukwueze and Osimhen didnt go to world cup. Osimhem didnt go to the WC.
As at when the world cup took place; KC- Leceister, Iwobi- Arsenal , Ndidi- Leicester, Vic-Mo - Chelsea, Etebo- Las Palmas, Simeone Nwankwo- Crotone,Ebuehi - Ado Den Haag , Awaziem - Nantes, Balogun - Brighton. These were all first division players

Of course , corruption is a problem not just with our football but also with administration of the government. But , in spite of the challenges we were still able to churn our mad talents over the years. Iheanacho , Osimhen , Chukwueze , Nwakali , Azeeze , Ndidi , Awaziem , Omeruo etc were talents put out by the same corrupt football system. So, lets not use the facts we have a problems in the system and throw the baby away with bad water. Corruption and godfatherism is not enough reason to lose hope in our coaches, rather it should awaken us to the challenges facing the development of our football.

Well Odegbami is entitled to his opinion but let’s really ask this question, what current Nigerian coach is out there that can take up the Super Eagles coach job? Lets imagine we don’t qualify for Afcon or we perform woefully in it and Rohr is sacked or resignes

As I have said before, to me only Amuneke has the qualification and experience to be considered out of all the Nigeria coaches out there
Try Finidi , Amunike , Siasia (when he is through with his mess),Emenalo and even the new one, Ndubisi Egbo. Then send those willing to go to school, especially NPFL veterans like Victor Ezeji etc. abroad to get more education and exposure. We need to invest in our products

I agree!!

There's nothing Rohr has achieved that some of our local coaches haven't, in fact, Rohr is only playing catch up.

That was how we wasted money in bringing in Berti Vogt and Lagerback and they were all $hit.
Frankly speaking, I dont see anything so special about Rohr. Just look at the abundant talents he is spoiled with , yet nothing encouraging from the man. None of our local coaches ever had this much quality of players in recent times, yet they have performed much better than this overrated Franco-German.

This man took a star studded team to the nations cup and achieved zilch. I feel like the only reason the man is still out coach is simply because he is white. Rohr's tactical ability is questionable with the way super eagles have played. If Siasia with his attacking style of tactics handle this current super eagles it will turn into festivals of goals.

I stand firmly with what Odegbami is saying. You cant tell me out of all qualified Nigerians coaches and the rest of qualified persons from other African countries we cant find a coach from the continent who understands our football mentality. Its high time we stop giving these Europeans chances to ridicule us. Slavery is over yet we are still hiring these white men thinking they have some magic wand.

NFA should also give scholarships to interested retired super eagles player as a reward for their service. We need to invest in our football because even if a black man is the smartest coach the whites will never employ him , simply because they feel you are inferior to them.

It should not be used as a platform by some people to have their gathering and enjoy the audience of ardent posters while derailing the purpose of the thread.
