Lagos (CNN)A Tweet of Nigerian man Christopher Anaekwe, 28, picking up trash recently went viral.

While a commendable, community-spirited deed, it's not exactly the sort of act you'd think would get thousands of likes and shares.
However, the city Anaekwe lives in -- Onitsha in southern Nigeria -- has been labeled the most polluted on Earth. Many roads are smothered in waste. The air is thick with toxic pollutants (PM10).

Anaekwe had organized a group of teenagers to clear the trash-laden streets in their local neighbourhood. The action of community goodwill received plaudits on the internet.

Anaekwe , a neat Igbo man cleaning his city...lovely. I dont know where you read most dirty city. Pollution comes from carbon emission. Oga , pollution is not the same with dirty. I thought they said you people are educated. There are waste in Onicha but Onicha is not the dirtiest city. However , Ibadan has one of the biggest slum on this planet earth.

This incessant fire incidents in Anambra point to one thing....regulation and compliance has been neglected. Commercial buildings and vehicles are not following strict regulatory rules , perhaps there is no regulation in place.

A police man that is supposed to secure the scene is busy taking pictures....He was also not properly dressed. Nigeria is living in stone age!

Yorubas like varieties in terms of ladies they are one of the most beautiful and neatest people in Africa.Ask the whites that also said Igbos are dirty.

What people have severally heard and the commonly held opinion in Nigeria and abroad is that Igbos are generally dirty and have an Igboish pungent smell.I am being frank here.
Look at Abia,Onitsha,Aba, etc even when they invaded Lagos in millions,the Yorubas knew some pigs have arrived.
Recently some Igbos were chased out of a plane just because they were dirty and have their natural smell which of course is pungent Some Igbos have to use a sizeable amount of fragrance to keep that smell off them.I am being frank.Yoruba landlord detest taking them as tenants because of their dirtiness.

Initially, I didn't support the airport but when you take into account the emerging economic super weight Anambra is growing into then we will certainly need an airport in the near future. An airport will be in order and profitable to Anambra when we finally control the economic activities of the East...to maximize our profit we have to compete with other airports and drive traffic to Umuleri airport. We will not be building an economy just to benefit ,feed and enrich neighboring hubs like Asaba , Owerri or Enugu airports. This is pure competition...the airport continues.

I learned a very important lesson from this thread- an eye opener. I have always thought the SW control the banking sector, I guess the Lagos factor had us all fooled.
