nzeogwu's coup has nothing to do with Biafra..it was the fallout of that coup that brought up the Biafra idea..nzeogwu was not a secessionist if you read your history well

Then you haven't read your history well. Causes are both direct and indirect. Biafra was born out of a desire by people (largely of the Eastern Region ) to seek for autonomy after the famous pogroms. The pogroms were a result of tribal sentiment and the perceived lopsided execution of the Nzeogwu coup. As leader of the coup, he was directly responsible for its results. Nzeogwu also fought on the side of Biafra. Check your history bro....

Even though I don't agree with this line of reasoning, the Anioma leaders were also included. Please read the accounts of the war.

Every nation has the good and bad citizens. Whilst there are many Nigerians doing the wrong stuff abroad, there are still many others who go about their business in the most honest and sincere manner.

The President shouldn't add more injury to our image as a people. He must be careful with his words whenever abroad or even back here. There are millions of decent Nigerians living and working abroad.

Mr. President should stop trying too hard to impress the international media with his not - too - smart comments.

He represents us and; therefore he must endeavour to represent us very well and professionally. The President making such statements can further destroy whatever trace of trust others have towards his own people. Wisdom is very necessary.

Lalasticlala, let's see how people respond to this.

As usual, a fantastic contribution! Well done bro!!

I don't think you also understand my point, entrepreneurship is NOT FOR EVERYONE. Its a gift endowed by special endowments and circumstances. Would rather go ahead to waste time and money on something that's not for you?

Entrepreneurship is for everyone... just like emotional intelligence, some have it naturally and some must be trained or taught to be able to utilize it. Everyone can become a successful entrepreneur; the problem is discovering your niche and not following bandwagon approaches. If we invest in knowledge prior to the entrepreneurial effort, time and money would not be wasted. What you should be advocating is how to improve entrepreneurial pursuits not defeatism.

My dear, it's unbelievable how some people reason! Alexander Pope said: "A little knowledge is a dangerous thing; drink deep or taste not! Shallow draughts intoxicates, drinking largely sobers us". The OP has little knowledge and it has intoxicated him, and he wants to carry many along with him.

Charism:
Entrepreneurship seems to be the order of the day today, the press glorifies it, government officials put lots of emphasis on it as the only way out of poverty, its even a compulsory course for all university students. NYSC is all about it, from your afternoon lectures in camp, to your SAEED. But is it really worth it? Are they telling us the truth, or is it mere propaganda by politicians to give excuses for their failure?
Daily we are bombarded by happy ending stories of people who made it by starting up their business, we are told to emulate the likes of Dangote, Otedola, mike Adenuga. But the bitter truth is that not everyone will make it like Dangote. As a matter of fact the chances of Success is Very rare.
People who make it are the lucky ones, lucky in the sense that the have opportunities that others never had or will never have which they harnessed to their advantage.
Opportunities like capital, good location, skills, business climate, experience e.t.c. These variable are not things you have control over. Take for example Dangote started his business with just #500,000 (a huge amount of money during the 70's) given to him by his uncle Dantata (one of the richest men in nigeria at that time) who also groomed him in the tricks of business management. There are many people who have beautiful business plans out there, but no capital to fund them. Even when the capital is available, you don't any experience about the business climate of the business you are venturing into, its like a blind man crossing the highway unaided.
The truth of the matter is that not everyone is meant to be entreperneurs, if you believe in the determination, nothing-can-stop-me mantra, you might probably end up with a small food-stuff shop/kiosk business, or like the road side akara seller whose income would not be enough for you to start a family. If it were that easy, then our proffesors of business administration in our universitys, would have been top business moguls by now.
Truth be told, our politicians need to sit up! And make economic policies to would encourage investment and growth. If the economy is favourable, both entrepreneurs and employees, would be better-off.

I don't think you completely understand what entrepreneurs are and entrepreneurship is about. Entrepreneurs create value in a multiplicity of ways, depending on a country's unique identity, economic policies and globalization. These investments you are urging government to do will be done by entrepreneurs. There is no business on earth that wasn't started by an entrepreneur or a government with an entrepreneurial mindset. What this implies is that entrepreneurs create and sustain jobs (indirectly, even government jobs are sustained by entrepreneurs ); no true economic recovery can be done without diversifying the economy and improving the balance of trade. This can only be done through value creation via entrepreneurs.

I can explain further if you want, but please dont misinform people based on limited understanding. A lot will follow your reasoning via a bandwagon effect, and we may lose future entrepreneurial leaders. No one says entrepreneurship is easy, but the more entrepreneurs the more the odds of getting successful businesses and the better for the country.

Dearpreye, what's your take on this?

Frankly, any woman good in the kitchen can cook soup with N500 (excluding garri, semo etc), but how would u folks feel if we place a meatless/fishless soup before you?

You don't understand? Oya here's d breakdown;

Ogbono 1 cup should be 180 or so - N360 (2 cups)

Bitterleaf - N50

Red oil - N60

Maggi knorr (3) - N30

Pepper - N40

Crayfish - N100

Stockfish - N200

Fresh fish - N300

Meat - N300

See where I am going? I never buy garri oh undecided

Abi na management soup u been dey find? cheesy

Not sure you'd be a good cook. Your estimates do not portray an understanding of proportions. Good cooking has to with proportions and methodology.

I can cook that soup with meat and fish for 1500; and I live in Port Harcourt where things are expensive.

Sure the negative trends will affect almost all the great empires of the world but some are better placed than others.

Bro, in addition to your sound points, refusal to diversify the economy is the major problem. Both on a personal level and on a national level, multiple streams of income is an insurance against poverty. More funds should be invested on income generation and less on recurrent expenditure. Corruption and faulty political structures aid in fostering a culture of waste and institutional poverty.

No we are not dogs we cant vomit and go back to eat our vomit, God 4bid... pls read below copy and share:

Ojukwu's Atrocities on Old Rivers State
Rivers communities seemed to be worse off. Apart from the
killings, torture and other forms of human rights abuse, they
were deliberately evicted from their homes towns and
replace with Igbo indigenes. As a consequence, many
Rivers people from Ikwerre, Ogoni, Okirika, Eleme and
Kalabari communities were evicted to “concentration
camps” in Igbo towns like Umuahia, Owerri, Abiriba, and
Ozuitem. That was how able bodied men, women and
children were systematically starved to death and buried in
farmlands. Ongoing massacre was only confirmed by siting
of dead bodies in New Calabar and Sombriero Rivers of
Rivers State.
An Irish priest who served in Rivers State reported how
Rivers people were maltreated because of perceive
sabotage by the Biafran Igbo soldiers. At Bolo and Ogu in
Okirika, and Onne in Eleme, the villagers suffered the same
fate. After the battle at Onne, Biafran troops removed the
town inhabitants suspected to have collaborated with
federal troops and sent them to the Rainbow Town
headquarters of the Biafran 52 Brigade in Port Harcourt.
Graham-Douglas, who was also thrown into detention,
claimed to have seen about three hundred men detained in
the Rainbow Town for no just cause. He asserted that no
fewer than sixty thousand Rivers people were sent to
different concentration camps in Igbo land.
Graham Douglas narrated the ordeal Rivers people suffered
in the hands of the Igbos in a pamphlet titled “Ojukwu’s
Rebellion and World Opinion”. He claimed that the
minorities tribes had suffered more hardships and
molestations than the Igbo could claim to have suffered at
the hands of Northern Nigerians. Biafra hired Markpress as
it image laundering and propaganda press. They countered
most of the sordid account of massacres committed by
Igbo Biafran in Niger Delta lands, like those narrated by
Graham Douglas. The world was therefore blinded to the
massacres committed in Rivers State.
Some prominent Ikwerre leaders like Elechi Amadi and Obi
Wali were marked for death. History had it that Obi Wali
was hidden by his kinsmen in a human waste dump forest
at Rumueme. Elechi Amadi was made fugitive in his
homeland. Ojukwu ethnic cleansing was coded as
"COMBING". No Niger Delta ethnic group or community was
spared of Ojukwu's combing. History recorded that Biafra
act of combing led to the Massacred of defenseless
civilians at: Ogoni (Bori), Eleme; Okrika (Ogu); Kalabari
(Bakana, Buguma and Billie); Ikwerre (Rumuola, Rumueme
and Isiokpo) and other Niger Delta communities of the
present day Rivers State too numerous to mention.
The plight of the minorities had been so alarming that
several Nigerian students of Rivers State origin in London
staged a peaceful protest against the killing and
displacement of their people. In addition to a peaceful
march from Trafalgar Square to the House of Commons in
London, they also sent out petitions to the United Nations,
the Organization of African Unity (OAU), His Holiness Pope
Paul VI, Emperor Haile Selaisie, the British Prime Minister
and other relevant groups, raising alarm of massacre of
their kinsmen in their homelands, asking them to bring
pressure on the warring parties to stop the senseless killing
of innocent and defenceless people of Rivers State for a
war the seek no part of. The petition was said to be a
landmark document that established to the world that not
all Eastern Nigeria region was part of the ideology called
“Biafra”, and dashed the claims of Ojukwu that he was
supported by all ethnic group of the region. Following the
petition, the international community mounted pressure on
Ojukwu to forfeit his struggle and negotiate for peace,
which led to an asylum window for Ojukwu’s capitulation a
few months after.

Stop running with every lie and propaganda you hear! I'm also a Niger-Deltan and I know most of what you wrote is idle propaganda from hate filled minds. Even the current information by the OP can hardly be true as anyone in Port Harcourt can testify that businesses (except recreational facilities ) traditionally do not open on Sundays.

If we keep telling lies long enough, they begin to sound like the truth. Stop being an agent of misinformation and hate. When the Igbos step out of line, we will gladly confront and stop them.

JAMES ONUOHA WE KNOW - Friends of James Onuoha

Nigerians love breaking news, we all jump into conclusion - he is corrupt, he is a murderer, he is thief and to the greatest shock of our lifetime our friend of 30 years is a rapist. There is that possibility of a friend being a rapist but why is the first word coming out of every one that has known James Onuoha is "I could almost swear he wouldn't do a thing like that".

Let describe this rapist, James is 5' tall, born with a birth defect, locked left knee. He wears a strapped rod to support his special left leg. To compensate for his deformity God blessed James with sound intelligent, an A+ WEAC student and a Second Class Upper division (2-1) in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Port Harcourt. Throughout his study in secondary school to University of Port Harcourt and years of service as an engineer he has never been known to smoke, drink alcohol or flirt with women. Not one single alteration with the law. Not one single previous police arrest.

After his primary school, there was a thin line between going to seminary school to become a Catholic Reverend Father and heading into a secular school. They say a people die because of lack of vision. Maybe as a Reverend Father, he will not be in this position today.

Leadership is a special strength; this personality in a class of 90 students was appointed as Class Representative of Department of Petroleum Engineering. A position that demands fighting for the welfare of your classmates from tough lecturers. Did he do a good job? Yes! and to graduate with a second class upper division combining academic and reps work in a five years course turned into 6 years thanks to ASUU strikes is not a rapist endeavor.

Before we all bury Mr. Onuoha alive we should spare a thought to consider the What ifs. They are so many questions that bother his friends. How many landlords will let you hold two years rent without forceful eviction? How many people at his age are good landlords? How responsible is the Okolis not to pay two years rent? Leave their 3 year old in the care of a 14 year old. How come the women association that had the initial report suddenly withdrew and cancelled their appointment with Onuoha? The doctors have identified a forceful entry with semen samples, common sense will settle this, semen carries the DNA of the donor, now it is time to compare the DNA of the accused, DNA of Mrs Okoli husband, DNA of all the males in Mrs. Okolis household to that collected from the purported rape victim so we can hang James Onuoha if he is guilty or the real suspect if there was any rape to start with.

We are always quick to condemn, especially when we think the underdog is at the receiving end. Let's not give a dog a bad name to hang it...Let's let justice prevail and not try James in the court of popular opinion... filled with prejudice and love for sensationalism.
