bigfrancis21: Overseas, the preferred CV format is PDF, the reason being that PDF files are rarely susceptible to virus attacks and by virtue of this immunity they can't carry any virus along to be transferred to the receiving end over the internet. In other words, PDF files are always safe to download, however, the same cannot be said for Word files. Word files are prone to, easily attacked and rendered unreadable by viruses and viruses easily attach themselves to word files, thus making them unsafe to download when sent over the internet.
I don't know about the generally preferred modus operandi of Nigeria anyway, though I've seen more companies demand more of PDF than WORD. However, whenever I'm sending any document of mine, be it transcript, letter, etc, I always send it as PDF. The advantages are highly valuable.
Take this from an IT specialist.

Not CV bros... PDF are for Legal and binding documents, if ur sending your CV to an agent , he has 2 format it with the Agencies typo and format with extra bits of info added b4 he or she sends its off

I've ran workshops for various Global/Top recruiting agencies for years... regarding their processes and ways of working, never have I come across an agency that prefers a CV in PDF... Never

yes PDF can be converted back to word and word back to PDF but recruitment agancies do work in fast paced environments and so they need to get hold of your CV format to the clients request and send it

Please take my advise do your CV in word... Simplified and easy

The police officer said always to lock your car manually with the key when parking in a public area.
