SportsRe: Yobo Replies Odemwingie Over Twitter Comments by ideylaff: 3:42pm On Dec 29, 2012
fkaz: LAGOS (AFP) – Nigeria captain Joseph Yobo has lashed out at Peter Odemwingie for being disrespectful after the West Bromwich Albion striker said the country does not have a team leader.

Odemwingie said via Twitter that recent Eagles captains have only looked out only for themselves and so the team lack a leader.

Yobo has now hit back at his national teammate, who was sensationally dropped from the squad for next month’s Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa

“Osaze has been reckless, disrespectful to most people. He’s not a kid, he should grow up because we cannot continue to baby sit him. He is responsible for his problems,” Yobo told Lagos radio Brila FM on Friday.

“This is not the first time he has been disrespectful. He is fighting all the coaches and at the World Cup he also disrespected me and he later apologised.

“He is not the (Lionel) Messi or (Cristiano) Ronaldo of Nigeria. He should look himself in the mirror.”

The Fenerbache star gave credit to coach Stephen Keshi for the provisional squad he picked for the AFCON, while admitting that he was surprised Obafemi Martins, Osaze, Taye Taiwo and Kalu Uche were not considered.

“I will give him credit for the squad. He will score 95 percent even though one or two should have been there,” said the former Everton defender.

“I’m sure he would have had some sleepless nights in selecting his team. Kalu Uche, Martins, Taye and Osaze not being there was a surprise but the coach must have his reasons and he cannot call everybody.”

Yobo also admitted that at 32 this is most likely his last AFCON.

“I think I have to admit it that this may be my last Nations Cup. We have to allow younger players to get their chance,” said the central defender, who has featured in five Nations Cups.

pipz: Point of correction, moderator, that is not his house its his new home. Banana Island is divided into 2 sections 1st and 2nd avenue. The former is commercial and residential while the latter is strictly residential and that is where Adenuga's palace is, its d largest private residential property in Ikoyi. The estate is now fenced up with concrete wondering why he did that cause the fence used to be steel rodes that you can see through the palace. Also his backyard is partly the lagoon.
Julius Berger has their office and logo in it, letting you know that its a multi billion naira project.
The house is built in Italian style, just like Don Corleone.

Thats not a good excuse, how many people do you see around with sweaty armpits even in Dubai which is hotter.

There are things you do to combat heavy pespiration and most especially if you are a girl, its not always a nice site to see sweaty armpits.

Imagine what happens underneath her if she is ds sweaty with a sleeveless dress.

Even the guy hugging her has a long sleeve shirt on and he has dry armpits

Lets not get ahead of ourselves, its either an oversite for Tonto not using an antiperspirant b4 leaving home or just total ignorance on her part

Its an embarassement to say the least for a so called Star which she is classed as.

Christianity EtcRe: Pastors Owning Private Jets Is An Embarrassment – Bishop Mathew Kukah by ideylaff: 5:18am On Nov 19, 2012
youngies: The acquisition of private jets by Christian leaders diminishes the moral voice of the church in the fight against corruption, the Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Most Rev Matthew Kukah, declared yesterday.

He spoke against the backdrop of the presentation of a private jet to the National President of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, by members of his church during the celebration of his 40th anniversary in the ministry penultimate Saturday.

Kukah, who was guest speaker at the annual Founder’s Day Anniversary lecture of Providence Baptist Church in Lagos, described exhibition of such opulence by church leaders as embarrassing.

The fiery cleric who spoke on ‘Church and the state in the pursuit of the common good’, said: “The stories of corrupt men and women being given recognition by their churches or mosques as gallant sons and daughters and the embarrassing stories of pastors displaying conspicuous wealth as we hear from the purchases of private jets and so on clearly diminish our moral voice.”

Kukah, who was represented by the Administrator of Holy Cross Cathedral Lagos, Rev. Monsignor Pascal Nwaezeapu, also expressed displeasure with the perceived closeness of the CAN leadership to the corridors of powers.

He said such alliance will weaken the ability of the church to speak the truth to elected public office holders.

According to him: “CAN has become more visible in relation to national prayer sessions, pilgrimages, alliances with state power and so on.

“Unless we distance ourselves, we cannot speak the truth to power. We cannot hear the wails of the poor and the weak. We should not be seen as playing the praying wing of the party in power.”

He challenged the church to speak against corruption in low and high places, saying such responsibility must never be jettisoned for any reason.

Apart from Orisejafor, other church leaders who own private jets include Founder of Living Faith Ministries, Bishop David Oyedepo; General Overseer of Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye; Founder of The Redeemed Evangelical Mission (TREM), Bishop Mike Okonkwo and Pastor Chris Oyakhilome of Christ Embassy Church.

This tops it all @ OP..

"The world's most expensive bra is the $12.5-million (£8.6-million) Heavenly Star Bra, by Victoria's Secret, created in 2001. It features 1,200 Sri Lankan pink sapphires and as its centerpiece a 90-carat emerald cut diamond that was worth $10.6 million (£7.3 million) alone at the time. The 2005 Sexy Splendor Fantasy Bra also had a $12.5-million selling price, though in comparative terms its value is less than that of the 2001 bra.

Both bras were part of the Victoria's Secret Fantasy Bra line."

http://magazine024.com/5-most-expensive-bras/

Heavenly Star Bra ($ 12.5 million)

Yet another fantasy bra belongs to Victoria Secret worth 15.5 million dollar. Heidi Klum was the lucky German American model who had the privileged to wear this 12.5 million dollar bra in 2001.

The appearance of world’s second most expensive bra was kept secret till it was inaugurate in Victoria’s Secret store on Broadway and 67th Street. It was made of 1,300 precious stones including 300 carats of Thai’s ruby on red satin. Gisele Bündchen was the lucky Brazilian Model to wear this amazing bra in 2000.

The financial incentives for Central Asian Olympians
By Feruza Rakhmonova
BBC Uzbek Central Asian countries are unlikely to feature at the top of the Olympic medals table, but it won't be for lack of financial incentives.

When Kazakhstan's Zulfiya Chinshanlo took Olympic gold in the women's 53kg weight lifting event on the second day of the games, she was only half joking when she mentioned the cash bonus that may be in store for her.

The 19-year-old had just been congratulated by the country's President Nursultan Nazarbayev. "I won't tell you how much money he will give me," she said. "I am afraid I will be robbed."

Joking aside, cash prizes for Central Asia's medal winning athletes are a serious matter.

In fact, the bonus paid by Kazakh Olympic officials for a gold medal is no secret. It's $250,000 (£159,000) - 10 times the amount a US athlete would get if he or she captures top spot.

Riches and recognition

Such generosity reflects the importance attached by some former Soviet republics to achieving sporting glory under their own flags, some 20 years after their countries broke away from the crumbling USSR.

Kazakhstan's wealth is helping in attempts to raise its international reputation

Kazakhstan in particular craves international recognition. Its new capital Astana boasts a wealth of extravagant architecture, including the giant Pyramid of Peace, and the huge shopping and entertainment complex in the shape of a tent, both of which have been designed by British architects Foster and Partners.

With plenty of oil, gas and precious metal reserves, the country can afford to bankroll its international PR efforts.

But even poorer neighbours have made big promises to their Olympic athletes.

Kyrgyzstan - with a GDP of significantly less than a 10th of its mighty neighbour - says it will reward a gold medal with $200,000 (£128,000). Then again, at Beijing none of its athletes achieved that feat.

OLYMPIC INCENTIVES
•Singapore: Athletes are being offered SIN$1m ($800,000/£511,000) for a gold
•Australia: AU$20,000 ($21,000/£13,500) for a gold, plus their face on a postage stamp
•Russia: Athletes will receive $135,000 (£85,000) for a gold
•Kazakhstan - $250,000 (£160,000)
•Kyrgyzstan - $200,000 (£130,000)
•Uzbekistan - $150,000 (£95,000)
•Russia - $135,000 (£90,000)
•Tajikistan - $63,000 (£40,000)
•US - $25,000 (£16,000)
•UK: No money - but their face on a stamp
Source: Reuters

But Murat Saralinov, the head of the Kyrgyz National Olympic Committee, has said the bonus could make a difference.

"Around three billion people watch the Olympic Games in London. So it's a big event," Saralinov said when the incentives were announced. "We would like to support our athletes and I believe it will give them a huge stimulus. We think to win two or three medals would be very good for us."

Uzbekistan, also endowed with oil and gas reserves, will pay $150,000 (£96,000) for a gold medal, while Tajikistan, the region's poorest country, has been more modest with a $63,000 (£40,000) dollar gold bonus.

Private encouragement

But there's a big difference in what the prize money will get you in the different countries.

In Kyrgyzstan, the gold medal bonus would get you a very comfortable, if not luxurious house. In metropolitan Kazakhstan or Uzbekistan, the cash would just about get you a modest flat.

Whatever the actual value, most Central Asian countries outstrip the incentives offered by the former Soviet Union's lead nation Russia.

And in some former republics, patriotic individuals have raised the stakes even higher. One leading businessmen in Armenia has offered to top up the Olympic federations cash offer by another $700,000 (£448,000).

During Soviet times, incentives were both ideological as well as material. Successful athletes were awarded prestigious titles such as the 'Master of Sports' ranks, complete with badge. But they could also expect privileges such as better salaries or a flat.

The Soviet sporting structure may have passed into history, but the incentive system has adapted to more capitalist times.

thelastPope: I am really getting irritated by many Nigerians in diaspora. They seem bent on seeing Nigeria and Nigerians go down. They come here and all over other Internet sites spewing garbage about Nigeria. They will put down anything positive about Nigeria. It seems they are suffering from gross bitterness.

There is no denying the fact that Nigeria has many issues but we cannot solve it by hating ourselves with so much raw hate and talking nonsense all the time. There is a time to critisize. For example, I like to criticize our excesses on materialism as a people which leads us to many unwanted stuff like corruption and crime. But insulting the nation and saying we will never make it and making us look so pathetic to the rest of the world is just too bad! We have our dignity and pride and we will never sacrifice that on any alter of self defeat and hopelessness.

If these bitter diaspora folks can't see anything good about Nigeria and Nigerians, I wonder why they even bother to post on Nigerian forums. They should carry their crap somewhere else. They forget that they are part of those who have failed Nigeria because they have not made any meaningful contribution to Nigerian growth.

Some of us travel out of the country and know how many of these folks live in Europe and even the US. In spain, Italy and Greece, many of them beg on the streets. In the UK, I don't even want to start. They haul themselves, sometimes as much as 15 in a 2 room apartment! Yet they talk nonsense here on NL because they can afford cheap Tmobile internet connection.

We have no other country but Nigeria. We must stand up and build it. Yes, it is a long road but it is a journey worth taking! Our families and friends live here. The question we must ask ourselves today is how can we make it better?

Apologies/acknowledgement to the many Nigerians in diaspora who do not fall into this category. Your patriotic contribution is a blessing to some of us!

@OP.. how can you say all these without having any facts... ?

Is it the small change deals you are doing in Nija that is building the nation or the corner corner most of the leaders are cutting that builds the nation?

Who says everyone living abroad is living in squalor?

Have a read on this... 2011 Western Union figures... "Remittance Flows From Abroad To Nigeria Over $10B This Year, Says World Bank - Empowered Newswire"

This is just Western Union ... no other figures added and you come on here to slag people who are out of the country

Pathetic and baseless...

Pukkah: Thank you! But has the country even demonstrated that it needs access to more finance?

The more the access to finance they get (through increases in IGR, oil revenues - increasing prices and quantity of barrels pumped per day, FIRS and Customs revenues, local banks' debts, contractors' debts, bonds, etc) the more they steal. That's about where the direct relationship stops.

When one looks at the front page of Nairaland today and sees headlines like 'All Federal Roads In The South-East Are Dilapidated' and 'Did Jonathan Lie In His Independence Day Speech?' together with the Tribune news item of 'Nigeria earned N5.5trn in 8 months'; all of which give an indication of decaying infrastructure, even when revenues are going up, amidst a weak and lack-lustre fight against corruption, you may want to ask yourself:

does a wasteful/corrupt government really need more access or less access to finance?
Word.. you have said it all. Bless you. "does a wasteful/corrupt government really need more access or less access to finance?"

Bliss4Lyfe: I just like dis David Mark. He has guts to tell the Western World(US,UK AND Allies) to fuxk off with their aids money for homo laws. He has guts to give this dull administration a good kickin to fix up their act and would certainly have the guts for a stand off with Cameroon just like Abacha.

2015, he is the man to watch. grin
Can Nigeria stand on her own 2 feet without the Western world..LOL and LOL again.....?. lets stop kidding ourselves.. even the Mark with his ego big mouth has all his stolen funds kept in the Western world
