Nigeria has more powerful land forces than Egypt.

In world military rankings by Global Firepower Index, of 140 countries Nigerian military ranks 35th, and Egypt, 12th.

The gulf is not so wide as to assure Egypt of an automatic victory.

“By 1960, shortly after Nigeria’s independence, the Prime Minister, Alhaji Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa, had directed the principal of King’s College, Lagos, Mr. P.H. Davies, to provide places annually, for at least 15 boys from the North, whether or not they passed the requisite regular entrance examination.”
-Col. Ben Gbulie (rtd) in “Nigeria’s Five Majors” page 36 published by African Educational Publishers (Ltd) Onitsha 1981.

“By 1964 a group of young Nigerian officer-cadets, mostly Northerners, had been declared academically unfit and hence repatriated by the Canadian military authorities. These cadets were, however, pronounced commissioned by the Nigerian Federal Government no sooner than they had arrived at Ikeja Airport. Consequently, they had had to be absorbed into the Nigerian Army as commissioned officers, even though they had received no requisite military training.”
-Col. Ben Gbulie (rtd) in “Nigeria’s Five Majors” pages 12 – 13, published 1981.

Zak Maimalari had held the rank of Captain in 1960. But before my return from United Kingdom in 1963, he had soared to the rank of Brigadier. In other words, he had risen from Captain to Temporary/Major, to Substantive/Major, to Temporary/Lieutenant-Colonel to Substantive/Colonel and then Brigadier, all within that short span of time. It was just scandalous.”
-Col. Ben Gbulie (rtd) in “Nigeria’s Five Majors” page 13, published 1981.

“In an attempt to catch up militarily with the South, the Northern politicians had thrown out all discretion. They had lowered standards of admission drastically, settling for the minimum.

For as I recalled, all the northerners in my intake had been trained at the Mons Officer Cadet School in Aldershot. And they had become officers after barely six months of military training, whereas those of us who had been sent to Sandhurst had had to do two long years to earn the Queen’s Commission.

The implications were quite & most disturbing. Not only had these northerners become commissioned officers before we were half-way through our first year at Sandhurst, they had all risen to the enviable rank of Captain before we could even appear at the Queen's sovereign’s parade which served essentially as prerequisite for our passing out as Second Lieutenants.”
-Col. Ben Gbulie in “Nigeria’s Five Majors, pages 12 – 13 Published 1981.
Among them from northern region were Theophilius Danjuma, Filimon Shande, Sule Apollo, Martins Adamu, David Bamigboye, G. Alabi-Isama and Ignatius Obeya. From the western region were Emmmanual Abisoye , Samuel Ogbomudia and Ayo Ariyo.

The chaps with Ben Gbulie at Sandhurst included Alani Akinrinade, Pius Eromobor, Simon Uwakwe and Joseph Ihiedigbo.

The President’s spokesperson, Femi Adesina, has again frowned at those attempting to cause disunity or dismemberment of the country, saying such people are “struggling in vain”.

Adesina stated this when he received in audience, the Black Apple Media Group, a production outfit devoted to making movies and documentaries towards the promotion of unity and peaceful coexistence in Nigeria, in Abuja on Friday.

”All those who are trying to cause commotion, cause disunity, cause dismemberment, I think they just struggle in vain, it will not happen. Nigeria will be together..."

https://www.thequesttimes.com/nigeria-will-be-together-agents-of-disunity-struggling-in-vain-presidency/
This dumbass fool called Femi Adesina is typical example why Africa in general and Nigeria in particular lagging behind progressive curve. Mr. fool, you cannot have disunity when unity has not existed. It is pitiful a person from the group of empty heads who claim sophistication while in their dreams cannot figure the difference between unity and union. Please Femi Adesina close your freaking loudmouth because the more you open it, the clearer your stint with free education manifests.

Nigeria will never develop because while Yoruba is playing by the rules, the two other tribes are trying to hijack everything including what belongs to Yoruba

This is the key, it is only North that is trying in this part exporting as much as they can, while some tribe are still shouting why Buhari closed the border.

The best solution is regional government, non-indigene show not be able to be political active in region he is not native to, land mark should be created with autonomous power so that each region can grow at their pace.
Are you referring to the same Yoruba which went war because a section of the country wanted out of the useless union? Any group of people which went to war because of moronic reason is freaking useless.
Politics › Re: How did South Korea become wealthier than Africa combined in less than 70 years by Idiko1: 10:07am On Feb 12, 2022
Rugaria:
I don't think it's helpful the way we rail against Africa here without expending some energy to understand why things are the way they're. For the OP to insist that South Korea got to the place she's today based solely on her efforts is deceptive. Lots of international realities came together to create the present day Asian tigers. Believe me, if the South Koreans were forced to face the kind of undermining efforts that the western powers visit on many African states, South Korea might be another Laos or Burma today...

The main factor was the proximity of communist China and socialist USSR to the Asian Tigers. With these two super powers supporting communist fighters both in Vietnam and North Korea in the 60s, the west worried real hard that the whole of Asia might end up as Communist states post world war and started building up strong capitalist enclaves around Taiwan, South Korea, Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore etc as some kind of bulwark against communism/socialism. The fear of communism/spread of the socialist influence of the USSR across Asia, was the main factor..

This forced the west to invest heavily in these countries, who became western allies post world war 2. Western governments encouraged heavy technological transfers and helped to skill the local manpower to specifics. More importantly, instead of assassinating vibrant leaders in these South East Asian countries as was the case in Africa, their leaders were heavily encouraged and guarded as long as they were pro west. That gave the leaders the space to build up their countries and advance the course of national growth.. This doesn't distract from the point that these countries did have some really good leaders at this point, eg Singaporean leader Lee..

The transfer of technologies in order to grow the economies of these countries helped create a vibrant and peaceful region. They had, an already waiting western markets to buy their products. Western heavy investments in almost all sectors of the economy helped to create a prosperous set of countries that ultimately used their capitalist power to convince the communists in China that communism wasn't working. This was the main reason why China ditched communism for capitalism especially when the ordinary Chinese revolted in 1989 over their conditions, which were worse when compared to that of the people of Hong Kong..
Africa, in my own analysis, would have been better of, if there was a power tussle going on here between the major global powers. This is why I am not totally against Chinese deep penetration of Africa..
The bolded is arrant nonsense!!! Nobody can make you a fool unless you allow them. In case in point was 1967 Nigeria. Why would the rest of dumbass Nigerians go to war against eastern region on a mere urging of Britain?

Lets stop unnecessary hype, Uyo is more beautiful and serene with beautiful roads, by far sef
Nigerian mentality leaves much to be desired. Roads with ramps for exist make a town beautiful. Uyo is a young city which was not even urban city in 1960. Uyo is not more than two roads city. Uyo can only compete with section of Enugu. I am only disappointed with Calabar which has risen to urban level even before 1960. I should say with size of Enugu, it trumps Uyo.

Yoruba
Yoruba are the only ethnic nationality which have lost ton of acreage to another ethnic nationality in Nigeria. Ilorin, Kwara State readily comes to peoples' mind. However, the range stretched to Oyo ile in Niger State. Osogbo became the red district of Caliphate foot soldiers while Ogbomosho acted as backup. Yoruba has not won any battle in Nigeria and do not have the intestinal fortitude to resist a drunken soldier. In 1966, Yoruba even denied their son was murdered cool bloodily in Ibadan.

Soludo my brother, even in America inauguration is a elaborately joyful community event.

However, I recognize that this is your inauguration and you want to use it to communicate a paradigm shift of what public office should be and how urgently and professionally a technocrat in government should work: more work, more sacrifice and less personal pleasure and comfort. Carry go!
Most Nigerians have moronic stream of thought. Nigeria cannot celebrate at the level US until it gets to the position of US. "Cut your coat according to your size". This is an informed adage.
