aorseer: I should have done this last week but I was in remote area all through the week. I want to use this opportunity to thank this noble house for the contributions I received late last year when i came here seeking for opinions and advice about a solar setup for my school project. Notable of mention is lexi28 he took time to advice and share from his wealth of experience, thanks a lot. Two weeks ago I was able to get the finances for my small solar setup for the project but I live in the the Northern part of the country and I was working on a tight budget so I needed to get things at the best price, I thought of Lagos but I don't have a contact in Lagos my instinct told me to contact Justcallmanuel and that was the best decision ever, this guys customer service is top notche. He replied my first message almost immediately and continued that way even after I sent him money(unlike other sellers that give less attention the moment they receive your money) and even helped to waybill the same day. Even when there was a delay in my goods reaching me as anticipated a fault of the transport company he became more concerned than me that just spent close to a 100k. I give this seller 7 stars out of 5 stars, the two extra stars are for his prompt response and wonderful customer service. Thanks Nairaland for making this kind of deals possible. I received my goods in excellent condition @justcallmanuel good work. keep it up I can confirm this too |

NiyiOmoIyunade: I am in between two residences cum office work spaces as we speak.
Current house which doubles as office, I have 7.56kw of panels on the roof made up of 3.96kw of 330w Canadian Solar and 3.6kw of 300w Flames panels.
Loads are 2 1hp ACs and 1 1.5hp AC + a microwave and Freezer and Fridge and Water Dispenser always on. At night we power down to 2 1hp ACs only - the 1.5hp is always off at night.
Base load without ACs are about 700w when you count various fans and lights and assorted equipment always on. Add on the ACs and I easily see up to 4kw of load. The historic highest I have seen (limited by 8kva Victron inverter is about 6,000w of load).
New location has 7.7kw of panels - Canadian Solar 385w (20pcs) on the ground mount/car port - This car port is approximately 19m by 4.3m and can park 4 to 5 cars easy. When we finish moving house, the Flames Solar panels will relocate from current location to our permanent base and will sit on thesame car port - car port can take 36 panels of which 20 spaces are already taken by the 385w panels and 16 spaces are left for the Flames once we mount the Flames, 4 slots will be left for later expansion.
New location also has a flat concrete roof of which 3.6kw of Canadian Solar Panels are being mounted here and then will move the 3.96kw of Canadian Solar from current location to permanent base on thesame roof.
So we will end up with 7.7 + 3.96 + 3.6kw = 15.26kw of Canadian Solar panels + 3.6kw of Flames for a total of 18.86kw.
If I can sell the Flames for a good price and go all Canadian Solar then I will - I keep saying I got to 19kw by a happy accident - the target was 15kw of panels but we were doing December year end count and I found 12 pcs Canadian Solar 300w panels neatly packaged for transport in my store but not owing them to anyone I must have overbought when I was stocking up.
To loads we will have 2units 2hp ACs + 1 Unit 1.5hp + 2 Units 1hp AC running. All this cooling is required for very large rooms and moderate traffic during the day. At night only about 3hp of ACs will run but always a base load of 800w + another 200w for security lights at night will run. Also a pressure pump of 0.5hp is always on and ready to work plus a 1hp pump that comes on ocassionally.
All these loads at the permanent base will run off the 15Kva Victron with the 8kva just resting as backup. I had to use a robust distribution bus apart from the DBs to make the 15kva single phase Victron serve all the dedicated inverter DBs which are all 3 phase.
To folks who have requested pictures, I will provide once the system is final in one location and photo worthy.
I foresee an additional 6 to 8 PylonTech bricks to take us to 40kwh of storage
Remember I said the business is seeing increased interest in premium Lithium - it is key we have running systems similar to what our clients demand so we can give them the best support and service.
After running a few months I will optimise the entire installation for loads and everything else - in the few days I have been playing with the Pylon Techs I have glimpsed a few insights which I will share to the house later, I even now have the Pylon Tech supervisor software which allows firmware updates and precise monitoring and control of the BMS and each individual cell via a console connection - all this experimentation and learning cannot be done on a client's production system. hmmmm nawao. my broda more grease or is it charge to ur elbow. please don't pray against those envying you o because I am one of them (in a good way). anyway u better settle ur ransom o. even if na ur unused batrs send am. solar sweet. thank u in advance |

oliyeniun: hello house,
i have a solar installation: 24V system, 1200Watts PV array, SuNex 130A MPPT CC (used to have an Epever CC which the installer blew up and replaced with this) 2 200AH Quanta batteries, bought last year and a bluegate 2KVA / 24V inverter. In my location as early as 10am, the battery indicators on each battery is already reading 14.1V because we have plenty sun .
the issue is that since i changed from the Prag inverter i was using before to this bluegate inverter, when there is no NEPA and the inverter is on at this time, it goes turns off once the voltage reading on each of the battery gets to 14.1V and except i put plenty load on the inverter to bring the voltage down, it keeps tripping off, which i suspect is due to excess current and the possibility that the battery is full and the solar is still charging the battery (i may be wrong and i stand to be corrected). i also read it somewhere that Quanta manufacturers have a cut off voltage for longevity of their batteries at a much lower voltage (between 13.5-13.6 thereabout). i contacted an installer about the problem and he said i should install a circuit breaker between:
i. the Solar Panels and the CC (60A) ii. the CC and the battery (30A) iii. the battery and the inverter (30A)
this instruction is a bit strange to me and i am humbly asking the house what they think the problem might be and if the recommendation of the installer should be followed and if not, what should be done. I am counting on the house o. this investment must not waste o. Thank you. I am suspecting that the inverter battery over-voltage cut off set point is likely on 28vdc. if I am in your shoes I will change the CC maximum battery charge cut-off set from 14.1 to 14 or 13.9v to check |

[quote author=NiyiOmoIyunade post=86349913]Set to 'TUBULAR' if your battery is flooded.
I think the Luminous maxes out at 14.4v charge voltage though. Most flooded batteries prefer a high voltage charge and may die early if they are not absorbed and equalized at a sufficiently high voltage.

abbeyforex: I have a solar power system of 3KVA 12 volt inverter and 2 pieces 200AH battery. I use it to power only 1 chest freezer of 169 watt 1.2A but the issue is that the battery gets drained and drop to around 10.8 whenever the sun starts setting (around 4pm). I have a feeling the battery is not good or is this normal. The set up was done about 3 months ago and initially it last over the night till when the sun begins to rise but recently, the battery gets drained so fast. Pls advise you need to break it down for easy review. give more info. for now batr - 400a x 12 = 4,800w load - 169w x 14hrs at least = 2,366w i am suspecting ur solar panels or setup is not adequate to charge ur battery to full that is why on d first day the batr power was able to run overnight so let's have ur solar setup info ok |

Topmost11: This is dry season and I need to constantly clean my panels. Pls do I need to disconnect the panel from the CC before cleaning with water or I can just go ahead while still connected. My question may seem stupid as someone may ask me, "do you disconnect during rains or don't you know it's tantamount to rain falling on it?" I ask because splash ing water on it is sudden, cooling it almost immediately and it getting hot again in minutes unlike during rainfall when weather would have cooled it off first and then gradually heat up as sun come back up
Incidentally a medicine shop in my vicinity got burnt few days ago; story is the inverter caused it though i have not been able to get true gist. My colleagues who I've been advising on the beauty and sense in solar are now skeptical. How do I convince them? 1. preferably wash your panels very early in d morning before sun wake or late in d evening sun down. I don't wash panel when sunny. 2. what type of inverter that burnt d shop? I ask because people do or buy or install whatever they like or cheap cheap and call it inverter to give d business bad name |

DUNKA: Anybody that has been on the platform for some time and had personally dealt with Kiekie already knew who that post was referring to. It is not the first nor would it be the last that complaints have occurred and continue to reoccur most especially his high pressured sales tactics and price gouging. Meanwhile, we thank God that there are now so many options and choices to go with. A word is enough for the wise. Haba jamaa I thought he would have changed by now but until all his sales are affected on Nairaland he may never learn how to operate a business on a social media platform where negative feedback can be fatal. I don talk my own. Newbies beware and ask before you commit your hard-earned funds to KIEKIE for any supply has no single drop of integrity in him and any promises of warranty or after-sales service is false and woe betide you if the product has any defect you are OYO. seconded and thirded especially if your product have any defect you are OYO. oliyeniun: Hello house,
Please i am trying to install a solar panel system for my parents, can you recommend a good solar installer in Ilorin?
Secondly, I want to ask if anyone can help with the schematic drawing for hybrid inverter connection. I am not an expert but I try to read up, and from my readings, it seems that the connection of solar hybrid inverter is different from the normal solar-inverter connection.
Thirdly, I assume I don't need a charge controller if I am using a hybrid inverter...please help clarify.
Lastly, what is the recommended cable size and type for connection from the panels to the inverter....this is so that if I don't get a recommended installer, I can at least monitor the one I can manage to get to ensure a good connection.
Thanks house. I believe Abunafiu is in Ilorin axis if I am not mistaking |

olendave: I think the power rating in watts is around 110 -120 watts
From the formula of P=IV ; where P is power in watts, I is the value of the rated current and V is the rated voltage.
From the provided data: P= 0.5 x 220 = 110 watt or P=0.5 x 240 = 120 watt.
My view about it. Correct view. add 15w if d lamp is on. enjoy ur money |
