Well I think it depends on how you applied it. I mean the quantity (dosage) u used n then it's not just fresh ginger and garlic,it has gone through several processes e.g fermenting with alcohol etc before getting d end product.
Yes I know all that processes. But I still think one shouldn't be giving it everyday. With fpj, lab and imo4 on their feed, thats more than enought to tackle any poultry diseases, even without cleaning their coop, all you need are those 3 on their coop once or twice a week and also add new straw from time to time. I will create time to open a thread on how to do that. Thanks OrganicFoods for this opportunity. Without you I might not have the opportunity to share this here.
stevejireh01: I must confess that the result has been unreal and too good. Remember I told u I must taste out of the meat to know the taste, toughness, and the quality of the meat. Considering the fact that these birds were just 50 and the resources can always be gotten since they would be needed in a smaller quantity. My challenge is about those that would be going on full scale say stocking about 10,000.My questions are: How do one get the materials that would be enough to serve such number of birds? How would one get the quantity of Ginger/garlic that would be enough to serve such number of birds? How would one culture the lacto bacillus to go round on daily basis for the birds to feed on?
Have also learnt on how to treat some diseases using organic materials like bitter leaves, aloe Vera, scent leaves, bitter lemon etc, now, in a situation like these how do I get the quantity that would be enough for my farm, that means I will have to finish the whole bitter leaf in the market. Lol
OK, let's assume those materials would be packaged and sold out for those into the organic farm to but, at the end of the day you will discovered that the price of those material will almost be equal or more than the normal price of the conventional drugs that we are used to. Ordinarily the price of an organic broiler should be more expensive than the synthetic ones that we know, but how many house hold would want to cash in? My other question is, we are being made to understand that the birds are on daily ginger/garlic juice, now won't the meat have the smell o both ginger/garlic? Remember some people don't like that smell.
Please, am not trying to be pessimistic here but just been curious of some certain observations as have taken my time to ponder on it, I tried to check the pros and cons of the project, am sure you all know that nobody here would be bold enough not to vaccinate his or her 10,000 bird. My post is subject to corrections so please. Cc: Turks, organicfoods
Thanks for pointing out these. I have been following this thread from day one and I must confess organic foods is doing a very good job. I was going to talk about the daily ginger/garlic juice, the last time I tried those on Egg Laying birds believe me if affects the taste of the eggs, I just hope it won't with broiler meat.
Urbangrow: Hi Yazz09, I have read your thread all through and I really appreciate that you are sharing your experience with us here. Unfortunately it seems there isn't any room on your whattsapp group anymore, as I am a snail farmer. I would have loved to be part of the group. I am currently having issues with my snails.
I started in sept last year with 200 snails bought from a snail farmer and now I have just 163 and I fear I may keep loosing more. They aren't laying eggs either as the last time I saw eggs was last year October where I got about 12 eggs of which none hatched, so maybe I didn't incubate them well.
Their mobility was also good as at last year up until December when harmattan came and since then they just cluster up together and they've been dying every other day. So I don't know if it's because of the weather that I am having these issues. I give them water as I know and have seen that they respond very well when water touches them.
Their pens have cocoyam grown in them as well as some other plant for food and shade and I also give them feed formula but they have been rejecting that recently. They love plantain, pineapple and fruits in general, but it could be expensive having to be feeding them on this every other day as I have to buy from the market.
It's really painful when I see a dead snail in the pen every other day! I really need your help with getting them back to tiptop shape and start laying eggs and to stop them from dying.
Here are pictures of my snails and their pen. Your help and any other person's suggestion/advice will help.

dejia: @ Ijobarun: Are you sure it is rice bran or Rice husk? there is a huge diff btwn the 2; i noticed most people call Rice husk, Rice bran; confirm and be sure..
I use Rice husk, about 10percent of it my feed, just as fillers; please dont use it for weaners or growers.

Emo101: To The Expert In The House Pls Is Power Sterring Fluid And Automatic Transmission Fluid The Samething Cos I Think I Just Pour The Automatic Transmission Fluid Into My Power Steering Tank Am Confused And What Is The Effect?Thank U All
Look for a way to get rid of it. Automatic transmission fluid is for your gear an not power steering.
organicfoods: In my extreme quest for organic revolution in Nigeria. I will be doing a powerful project on broilers. My aim is to :
1. Reduce the reliance on costly chicken vaccination by fortifying my broilers with powerful cheap naturally occurring herbs from nature. 2. Enhance feed conversion ratio using fermented conventional feeds to grow super size broilers within 3 months that will out perform conventional Farmer's result. Note: This revolution won't be total, but should prove a better cheap option to overtly reliance on drugs to produce broilers.
So far I ordered 50 broilers from Chi Farm and got delivery yesterday. At 220 per chicks. My investment begins with 11800 Naira. 800 for transportation.
I bought one bag of top feed broiler starter at 3210 Naira. 500 Naira for transportations.
I will be using lacto bascillus and Garlic extract. They both cost 4000. 2000 each per liter.
I have 51 birds... No mortality after the second day. I am serving chicks with fermented feed of lactos bascillus and Garlic extract in water through out.
In four days I will be introducing bamboo shoots to handle coccidiosis
So as usual I will be keeping my costs very low.
Edited. NB: Marek's vaccination was given as a standard at the Hatchery. Apart from this nothing else will be given... You can follow me on the journey and watch how I depart from the norms with astonishing results
Nice one OP. I am working on something like this, maybe I will create a thread to also show the world. Plz do you sell Molasses? And how much do you sell 1litre been oil? Urgent reply plz. Thanks.
Kaykaymil: Check the video link for update on my fish to see their sizes they are really doing well. I have been using aquamax though it is made in Nigeria I think it is cheaper for me and I get the desired result. I cant afford to use Durante which the prices are soaring off the roof now.
Wow, God bless you big for sharing this wonderful job. I like your courage and I am more than impressed. I am currently working on my hatchery cause I intend doing mass production for melange. Please kindly send me the materials , I am sure it will help me in learning more about catfish production. Thanks. Ifedayookunola@yahoo.com
This is the sack that takes up to 100 plants. The soil is changed after every 7 months. It needs watering thrice a week and each sack requires a total of 20 litres of water weekly.
Please how can I get this sack in Nigeria? Leave your email so I can contact you there. Thanks.
mercylicious: jasper, can't u see d guy is funny? plz ignore as he is a regular guy on this thread but registered wit a new username to create fun.
I personally don't think he should ignore him. Imagine a fool hiding behind keyboard calling himself farmerspolice and all he's here to do is practice some cheap blackmail to scam people, some good people might even get pissed and stop posting helpful tips for new farmers like me. @FarmersPolice or whoever you are, if you think this is how you will make a living, then trust me you will die in poverty, and I am sure Nairaland will figure you out soon wherever you are..
You didnt describe in detail the condition of your fries, you only assume it could be as a result of cold. Are they hanging? What is the water temperature in the morning and in the evening?
Apply excelsiorfarm prescription if it you are sure the mortality is as a result of cold
@ttalk I didn't see anything wrong with them, most of them ( bigger ones ) always swim at the bottom , and some little fries at the top. I didn't check the water temperature, I mentioned the cold cause thats the only thing I could point at, Dont know if there is anything I am doing wrong, I do flow thru 24/7, siphon the dirt and dead fries everyday and their water is very clean.
excelsiorfarm: if extreme? it could, but you could take precaution by not allowing the water level to be too high, you could cover your pond(to generate some heat) or prevent releasing the water very early in the day or late at night into the hatchery tank. Also check your feeding or if your tank is slimy for possible cause of mortality, stop 24/7 flow through, especially at period of low temperature,do dripping or get an aerator.
All the best.
Thanks for the quick response. I will take to your advice, I feed Durantee 0.2mm very little but I noticed that even after leaving the feed for about an hour I will come back to some floating or settles at the center of the vat, which I always siphon. I will avoid morning and night flow thru. I have a solar aerator I use almost 24/7. Please how many times daily should I feed? I feed 3 times daily, morning afternoon and evening around 6pm. Thanks for the help sir..
@excelsiorfarm , good afternoon sir. Please sir I want to know if the cold water from the tank outside can have any bad effect on fries. after reading trough ronboski thread, I decided to set up a small hatchery at home to solve the problem of buying runt seeds for my farm, the production was successful and they are 11 days old now, the weather is really cold here and I am losing much fries from 2 days ago, so I want to know if the problem is the water coming in from the tank, cause I do flow thru 24/7..
Mine are about 2ft tall and like rose bushes. I staked them in the pot too. I bought mostly indeterminate and semi determinate varieties for mine. I also think your idea of providing water and sunlight sources during dry season is genius and will prolong the life of the plant.
Yours are too gorgeous, do everything to ensure that they don't become "one-season wonders"!
I'm following your thread. Please continue to inspire us with progress pictures.
Also if you like to eat them, you can consider planting green beans next for fried rice and salads. I have those too.and took only about 45 days from seed in the ground to produce plentiful and succulent green beans which i use in my kitchen to cook everything from jollof rice to fried rice to spaghetti and even yam dishes.
