Serious farmers wouldn't use maggots to feed fish. It's outdated because it didn't yield an expected result in the past . Maggots are made up of over 70% water. Yes! The fish eats it very fast but does that result in speedy growth? Think about it man.

Yesterday was my third harvest. I've broken even and made profit. I got 3 bags from 3 rows (murano) but someone on nairaland bought it even before I harvested.

@lalasticlala thank you very much. That frontpage wey you put me don open door to many possibilities (I no go mind if you father Christmas me again ). Coming up will be lessons learned and recommendations based on my experiences with sack farming.

P.S. Each bag was 3k. Initial investment #6900. Second harvest #5000 and #9000 for the third. That's a total of #14000. Profit of #7100 within 68 days and still counting. The biggest cucumber was more than 12 inches

buying 70k weaners is not bad only if want to be selling strictly breeders,which the market for it is not much,venturing into full breed is not a good idea,hybrid or cross breeds do better,if u are buying a LW it does not mean it has to be fullbreed but has atleast 80percent of large white features,but u can buy exotic boar to mate them,just tell me buying a weaner 70k and at d end u fattening her offspring for slaugher or buying weaner of 10k using her offspring for fattening,i tend to be correct cross breeds do better than full breeds,dont get me wrong ooo,not concoction cross breed with large white ooo,PLs let make this group lively I once learn from this group b4 being APPN member and what av gain is enough for me to be a consultant lolz although I be intending farmer lolz pls let ask questions n share ideas together cos am still learning too much of guru

from 21kg onwards, 15kg monthly weight gain should be a minimum.

I achieve minimum of 10kg 5 weeks from birth and 50kg within 14 weeks from birth

Take time and go through the tread again, someone have already given that breakdown. From my research the breakdown that I used to feed my birds from day old to get them to between 2.5kg to some of them at 3.5kg within 7-8 weeks was N313.60/bird. with this info, you can multiply it by the number of birds you want to raise. The advantage though that I had was that I discovered a solution that I call Virushiled. that was what I used in place of any medication. At day old, I put a few drops in their mouth, and I repeat that again two more time within their first week. And I have a mixture of the solution in the water they drink through out the 7 weeks.
My result was that I had zero mortality, the birds grow fast because there wasn't any bacteria, or any virus in their system to stall their grow and course them to eat more. No any chemical in their system through the water they drink that can also have adverse effect on their growth and development. No medication or hormone that can affect the taste of the bird. What I had at the end of 7 weeks was some of the birds weighing about 3kg and 3.5kg, taste like free range birds and no fat. The bone of the birds were a lot stronger than the typical poultry bird. I give one to a franchisee of Mr. Bigs, she ate it call call me back and said that "she has not eaten any chicken like this before"

So, if you ad the cost of medication, it might cost you a little more than N313.60/bird, shouldn't be a whole lot though. So the breakdown for me was that to get a bird to about 2.5kg, the bird will need about 4kg of food. With this info, you can work out the cost of the bag of feed in your area and the number of birds you want to raise.

Hello all, sorry for the delay as I am not in any way keeping us in suspense. Please let me say that what I am about to reveal is not something unusual and not a top secret, and like I said we can modify and improve on it. It’s just a template of some sort. Please also note that prices of feeds have changed since the last time this model was used. And harvest time was 2 months and 3 days. Some schools of thought, are of the opinion that you must hatch before you can make it big in mélange farming, this is not always the case. Cos truth is we cannot all hatch, even though hatching will definitely save u some cash but it also comes at a cost (N). Just ensure you get your fingerlings from a reputable breeder and pay attention to quality issue. What I’m presenting to u was achieved by a client last month.
Before I proceed let me shed light on some obstacles to attaining this target.

1. Low quality fingerlings: Please and please MAKE SURE ur fingerlings are of very FINE QUALITY and must be picking 1.5MM conveniently.
2. Apply the recommended mélange spacing ( don’t over stock a particular pond)
3. Don’t under feed: though there are recommended feeding schedule based on body weight, I feed to satiation but avoid wastage. Feed twice in a day and avoid feeding late at night.
4. Effectively use multivitamins: I use aqua pro and livstovit.
5. Effective water management.

COST
1. Fingerlings @ N10 x 6000 N60,000
2. 1.5mm coppen @ N4000 x 3 N12,000
3. 2mm Durante(scretting) @ N5,550 x 8 N 44,000
4. 3mm coppen @ N6000 x 8 N48,000
5. 4mm Vital feed @ N4,250 x 48 N204,000
6. Aqua pro @ N350 x 2 N700
7. Livstovit @ N500 x 1 N500

TOTAL COST: N369, 200

Total Kg (after 2 months plus): 1920kg

N;B (1) mélange is sold in bowls(bafs) usually containing 30kg/bowl for this cycle, 64bowls were obtained.

;B (2) : he sold @450/kg, thus total sales was N864,000.
Gross profit: N864, 000 – N369, 200 = N494, 800 (excluding miscellaneous)

N:B (3): I don’t use vital, I use durante (sktretting) (4MM ) but I suggested vital to him for convenience sake cos it floats unlike durante which requires spot feeding and patience to use.

N:B (4): you should target an average 300g to make profit, however you will find out that a reasonable number will even attain 400/ 500g.

N:B (5): I normally sell at N430/kg, but he was able to sell at 450/kg which I think we should all insist on selling now (feeds and cost of running this business is quite higher now).

I am currently trying out alla aqua (3mm) at the moment cos coppen has increased drastically. Will update when the cycle is complete. Please if there are areas to be elaborated on I will be willing to, regards.

i am not your boss,if you are a farmer,it is colleague all of us be. I used well when i was at igando thruout,there was a nairalander that was based in france also used d same well thruout until his rentage expired & as far as i know that well was dug in 1994 & hasn't been any challenge until recently that someone that rented it said d volume of water isn't much & had to pack debris from it using a professional.I think that aspect depends on who digs it.festac t,ibadan well
