Anybody that is thinking DIY should not come near Alausa center except you're ready to wait for the next 5 months minimum after you capture. I was at Alausa today and those that captured April this year are just receiving sms to come for collection of their passport. I saw some who captured March this year and their passport is not out yet. The pages of your passport and whether fresh or renewal does not matter. IF YOU DIY AT ALAUSA, WAIT TO GET SMS BEFORE YOU GO THERE OR ELSE YOU WILL BE FRUSTRATED. YOU MAY NOT GET SMS IF THE PHONE NUMBER YOU FILLED DURING APPLICATION IS NOT CORRECT OR YOU MAKE MISTAKE WHILE FILLING YOUR FORM. The level of corruption on display at Alausa need serious media attention. Officers there are seriously cashing out with fast track. If you DIY and pay minimum of 15k depending on officer you approach, your passport will be out in 2 weeks. I confirmed this for real, and DIY are waiting 5 & 6 months without their passport. Don't be deceived by the 3 & 6 weeks notice. You will wait for 6 months .I think Shagamu center is better now for DIY. My source is what I read here. Alausa, Ikoyi and Fastac was like that some months ago. They have returned back to their corrupt practices without shame and human feeling. If you want to DIY, I will suggest you think twice before you make your decision. A word is enough for the wise. |
Idrismusty97:It is still valid. No cause of alarm ![]() |
victorVIC1:They are not interested in the travel history on the passport of the guarantor. Note the following: 1. The guarantor's passport must be valid (not expired) 2. Guarantor must give you photocopy of data page (page with photo, name, passport number, etc) 3. Guarantor must sign the guarantor's form 4. The physical presence of the guarantor is not needed 5. The guarantor must be 18 years and above 6. Of course, you can be your son's guarantor. |
Abeeb1995:You can write it with pen on a paper. You could type it too. It varies by center. Confirm from someone who has done it at the center you want to capture. |
Isjaymoh:Application letter is compulsory. It is just a simple application letter. You write it on A4 paper with biro and address it to PCO. For renewal, you don't need a guarantor. It is only fresh application that requires guarantor form. You can generate that on NIS application portal. You can open file on her behave if you want to do that before your capture date. Just ensure you go with all the required documents. Of course, a 21 years old person can be your guarantor. As long as the person's passport is still valid and willing to sign for you and give you photocopy of his/her passport data page. Just make sure all your documents are complete and you are ready to spend almost the whole day there. NIN verification is what take most people's time at Alausa. Once you submit your application form, they may not call your name again to confirm your NIN verification in the next 10 hours, and you may be lucky. Check back previous posts here to be double sure of all the necessary documents. Iree o! |
cayesworld:My worries too. Fingers cross |
ionome:Thanks @ionome for this info. Seriously, I'm more confuse now . I also DIY, 5 yrs, 64 pgs. Must everybody who captured at Alausa get SMS before going for collection? What if sms refuse to drop due to error from anywhere ![]() We're both DIY at the same center. I captured before you and I'm not even sure whether mine is ready. Even many that captured before me are yet to get theirs. This NIS people are just confusing us . I will give them more time anyway. My current passport still have few months to expire just not adequate enough for a long term travel. We go dey alright las las |
cayesworld: "collection post"I have been there three times in the past without getting my passport. I may wait till next month to avoid story that touch again ![]() |
Evolution12:Ok. Thanks. |
ionome:Is this fully DIY? I captured at Alausa on the 4th of May for renewal and the online tracker is still showing production in progress. Please, what date did you capture at Alausa and how did you confirm your passport was ready? |
incognitoo:Capital YES for DIY. |
incognitoo:Verification is the process of checking and confirming the genuinity of your data. The first step is checking and confirming your NIN and all centers does this. Once you submit your application slip with SERVICOM, they first confirm your NIN and if it's validated with NIMC then you can continue with other process until you capture. Each center has their operational procedures. Your appointment date matters in some centers and it doesn't in others. Collection date also varies with centers. Some centers give attention to DIY and some don't give a damn, "amori ibaku". The most important thing is first to understand the procedures of the center you want to use. Secondly, prepare and go with all the necessary documents required and lastly prepare your mind that you may use the whole day at the center on your appointment day. Iree o! |
haslaw:You will be the one to decide by yourself whether to DIY or engage the officer you spoke with if you trust him enough. Both DIY and using agent have their challenges. People will only advise you here but you have to make decision which way to go by yourself depending on your circumstances and pocket. Please, read previous messages to learn from people's experiences before you decide which way to go. All the best. |
RubyOgex:Check previous pages. You will get all you need. All the best. |
Tinkerogun: ![]() Her passport go don ready tey tey. e don pass 3 months self. Make una go collect o and come back share the testimony here. |
seggzzy:You can get the form at any center. |
Unfortunately, I mistakenly filled her BVN instead of NIN in the application. Is there any way this could be corrected when she goes for capturing ... Don't worry at all. It is the information she fill on the verification form at the center that they will use. Let her cancel the BVN number on the application form printed and use biro to write the correct NIN. NIN is the first verification they will check at the center before any other thing. |
Toplap:@toplap Coolu! Coolu!! Temper!!! e reach to vex honestly. It can be frustrating if one need it urgently. 32 pages booklet is worst ennn because it is a popular demand. Hopefully, you collect soon. |
Another thing that may delay printing of passport is if the production department also discover error or discrepancies in your data at the point of production. They have different departments that process your passport. Verification department may overlook some error and you go on to capture. The production department will do final check of your data before they print. If there's a red flag then they will jump your passport production and move to the next person. You can wait forever if this happens to you because nobody will tell you what happened until you protest in whatever way. I am not an immigration officer but one of the senior officers explained this to us when I was at their center in Lagos last week. I hope this helps someone. |
When did you captured? That's what will determine when your passport is expected to be ready. Minimum of 4 weeks after capturing for renewal. Truly, there's shortage of booklets and not lack of it. That is two different situations but they still print. If you approach them to know the status of your passport collection don't expect positive response except you are ready for fast track. Same officer who tells you "no booklets" will tell you that you can get it if you are ready to fast track. Patient is the key thing as far as I'm concerned. Lack of it means you're ready to spend extra money in the Nigeria way. All the best. Toplap: |
Which center are you capturing? 1. After capturing, you must be given an enrollment slip. Alausa center always right collection date on the enrollment slip you will get after capturing. They will give you back your old passport even before capturing. The old passport is only needed during physical verification of your documents, perhaps, it is your property not theirs. 2. You wife will write application letter with biro on a plain white A4 paper. She will address it to PCO of the NIS center. There's no major format. Just regular formal letter of application. Don't forget that you will need e-verification form. They sell it for N300 at any photocopy shop at Aluasa center. I don't know about other center. For the photocopy of your old passport, you're to do the data page and also last page. You can also buy file strings along in case the verification officer did not have on his/her desk. This will make things easy for you on the capturing date. Get to the center early even if they give you afternoon time for your appointment. All the best. seggzzy: |
crusader6:I think you did not complete the process of rescheduling. Lodge in again. Choose a new free date and submit, it will give you an instruction whether you're sure of choosing another date. Once you confirm that then click submit/ok then it will tell you how many chances you have left in case you want to reschedule another day. Once the process goes well, go to print appointment date and you will see the new date you choose. Better use a PC if you don't have strong phone. |
Ayoola003:If you captured at Aluasa Ikeja then you should see the collection date on your slip. You may add few days or weeks to it before you go if your place. |
chisun89:You will need it on the date of your appointment for capturing. Please, read through previous messages. You will see all the documents you should take along with you. |
Plaitex:For DIY, getting appointment for capturing for now will take more than 6 weeks in some Lagos centers. There's no more appointment space for May. June is full already for some centers. You can work with minimum of 8 weeks for DIY if you're considering Lagos centers. Your 6 weeks plan is possible with agent or you work in to any centre and ready to pay double of the regular fees. All the best. |
donbabchizy:If it is re-issue you apply for, just count 4 weeks after your captured day before you go for collection. If it is new passport, just count 6 weeks minimum. For either Fresh or re-issue you can add few more days or weeks after the weeks I mentioned earlier before you appear for collection. DIY requires a lot of patient between application and collection. It's not advisable for applicants who want magic in the process. |
ModelLook:Since you're in Lagos, go to your State Liason Office. They are within VI and Ikeja GRA. I think Imo liason office is in VI. You will be issued your State Certificate of Origin. |
incognitoo:This is not a problem at all. You will still do verification at the center whether you are DIY or use agent, and what you finally fill in your file is what they will enter into the system if it is a fresh application. |
steph6:June 2. I think it varies by centers. I'm not sure about this please. Though, they said 3 weeks after capturing for re-issue and 6 weeks for fresh applicant. It doesn't work like this all the time for DIY and it comes even earlier according to people's testimonies. Circumstances abound. This is Nigeria.. |
donbabchizy:Since your uncle works there and I want to believe he helped you with the process then he should also be able to help you check whenever your daughter's passport is ready. As at yesterday, a lot of people collected their passport and there was no complain. |
Applicants whose capturing date fell on public holidays (2nd & 3rd) were attended to at Aluasa Lagos today. The crowd was much and today's rain delayed. 2nd and 3rd appointment are giving the privilege to come tomorrow and Friday. DIY is fine at Aluasa, Lagos if: 1. You will be patient. The process may take the entire day but you will be verified and captured that same day if you don't have issues. 2. NIN is very compulsory. That's the first thing they will verify. The spelling, arrangement of your name and DOB on your NIN must be the same with what you have on your passport if you are renewing. They have sitting room for DIYs as long as it's your appointment date. 3. If you're a fresh applicant, make sure your NIN is verified before coming for your appointment. 4. If you're DIY, don't expect any officer to help you out. They will only direct you but you will get all the info you need from your fellow applicants. 5. Lastly, you will get your collection date on the final slip they will give you after capturing. This info is for Aluasa center in Lagos. Thanks. |
