I will say mine was God showing me his faithfulness and testing my faith. I couldn't secure a job despite having a 2:1 and passing several tests, i was still dropped at different stages of the recruitment process. I eventually settled for a contract job at an insurance company for a little sum doing what i did nt study n school, i was so unhappy and depressed. I continued with my professional exams which my salary could not even pay for. By the grace of God, i secured a partly funded private scholarship to undergo my masters abroad. Fastforward to the end of my masters i made a distinction and though still scared, I decided to come back to Nigeria cos i don't believe everyones destiny lies abroad. I came back home now filled with more faith and confidence which came about through prayers. I still got some rejections but after 6/7 mths, i got 3 job offers from a bank and two of the big 4 accounting firms. My advice is pray, engage in church activities if you are jobless( God rewards), always smile and be confident during interviews. One secret i used for all the jobs i secured, when i enter into the company building, despite my preparation i go to the restroom and pray again inviting the holy spirit to go with me and asking God to grant me favour.Best of luck. Pls ignore any error |
Phonon: I do get you my friend. It's just that I was thinking he would take it in a different way.My apologies if I came off as offensive. The verdict is out there based on perception:PWC is better than KPMG.Some are concerned about money in the interim;others prestige. All in all, making the best of your opportunity is utmost. The firm doesn't make you succeed,it helps you.No worries. We are good ![]() |
joboy834: Lol. Well I applied for the graduate internship role at that time thinking after some months I will be converted to permanent staff, but to my surprise the otherwise happened.Thank you very much for the explanation. |
Phonon: This may come off as heckling.I am sure he has his reasons; maybe he got another offer which he considers better than KPMG. Just saying......I get you phonon but it is just an innocent question and you knw from the previous thread i created i got an offer from both KPMG and PWC but it seems the opinions i m getting are mostly from pple who work there or prefer PWC. It would be nice to get an opinion from someone who has actually worked in KPMG. I hope u understand now. |
joboy834: I worked as a GRADUATE INTERN(contract), and not full staffI know that, i meant why did you not go through the graduate recruitment process to become a permanent staff at KPMG? Sori, i m just curious. Thanks |
joboy834: Worked as a Graduate Intern for 6 months in their IARCS unit. Why didn't you stay back at KPMG because i know u on PWC thread? |
Hi Calculus12, Thank you for clarifying alot of issues on this thread. I wanted to ask if PWC will reimburse me for the ACCA papers (both exempted and passed) that i have paid for, will they also pay the tuition costs that were incurred. Lastly, is there any support for CFA exams? Thanks a bunch |
Not so keen on KPMG after all these info. The partner who interviwed was for financial services audit and menh! He was not nice at all. I was even surprised to be successful. Heard that is the hardest dept n audit.Need a balance n my life. |
