A lil bit rested so i thought i should share my POE story. I left Nigeria on the 1st of march via united airline(LOS-HOU-ATL) and was asked for fit to fly(remember to make a copy). wasted a lil time weighing and removing stuff from my luggage to conform to the airlines requirement. Each passenger is entitled to 2 23kg luggage and 1 12kg hand luggage which must fit into their "hand luggage measurement whatever" (don't know what it is called). I was made to jump the queue cos i was pregnant but sometimes you have to plead your way through to the front of the queue. I pleaded with the airline lady to find me a good seat but when i checked she didn't give me a seat where i would be comfortable so i upgraded myself to the economy plus section by using the airline website to see the economy plus seats that were not taken, smiled and asked if anyone had come to claim the seat. so it was a guy, nobody then me so i didn't have anyone disturbing me to ease himself/herself. i probably would have had three seats to myself but by the time i checked online, some smart guy had taken the seats that where unoccupied. The airlines earpiece is really bad, so i suggest you get your own if you like watching movies. We were given dinner, dessert and breakfast. Please feel free to take extra bottles of water from the air hostess and keep some as you will feel really thirsty later on and also to ask for something to eat in between the flight if you feel hungry because nobody may ask you how you feel ( You could also bring snacks from home). I made friends with another pregnant woman. we both massaged each others backs. I got to houston by 5am(American time) and already saw the wheel chair guys waiting(i didn't use a wheel chair in Nigeria). i was wheeled to the CBP officer and already had my file in hand ready for questioning. officer- what are here for? Me- I am here for vacation and childbirth Officer- Did you state that in your application? Me- i didn't initially because i wasn't pregnant but i sent the embassy a mail Officer- And i am sure you don't have that mail Me- yes i do have the mail( i printed all my correspondence with the embassy, hospital, obgyn,Hospital receipt and even got my twin brother write a guarantor's letter although non all these was looked at). Office-How much do you have? Me- I have $4012 Officer- You have $4k dollars and you want to have a baby in the US Me- i have already paid my hospital bill He asked me to be wheeled to another room to check the status of my visa. I met some other Nigeria folks that were on my plane. In less than 10 minutes i was called by another officer. Officer- You said you are here for child birth. How much do you have on you? Me-i have $4012, money on my card and paid my hospital bill (he didn't ask for any of them) Officer- Ok just make sure you don't take any med-aid and bring all your receipts on your next trip then stamps me in for 6months. i was wheeled to agriculture where my bags were scanned because i indicated i had food on the form given on the flight. I had grounded egusi, knor cube(plain), grounded ogbono, grounded pepper soup spice, grounded pepper, dried fish, crayfish(not grounded, dried uziza and utazi leave, frozen pap, bitter leaf and ugbaka.(Igbo pple will understand some of these stuff). My indomie chicken was seized and i had two pieces of agbalumo (lol) which i forgot to finish up that were also thrown away, nothing else was seized. The wheel chair lady really tried pushing me and my luggage that i had to really tip her cos i probably would have missed my connecting flight if she didn't pull some strings. i got to atlanta and couldn't find my ghana-must-go of foodstuff. i complained to the airline and they promised to bring it to the house later that day, which they did. PS- i am nt using Dr valisia Andrews. therefore apart from the information i got initially i cant give any other info on her. I decided to use North Atlanta OB/GYN. Just decided one day to change her, so i sent her a mail to cancel my appointment. still hoping it was a smart choice because i don't know the entire bill the new OBGYN charges except the doctors fee of $2200. My appointment is still two plus weeks away but i accepted it because i have not had any complications in my pregnancy and that was there closest date they could get for me. That's it folks. personally Houston POE is not that bad. just be ready with your answers and probably even holding your file shows the officer you are ready to prove anything. Best of Luck |
Thank God for journey mercies finally arrived Atlanta via Houston today. Thanks everyone for your help. lL update on my Poe story. |
Iphie26:Hi iphie26, So I called the number and she said she ll send the details. It's confusing how other Departments like the business office and pre-registration say they don't accept wire transfer but the other lady said they do. Anyways thanks. Please reply my mail and we could keep in touch from there. I ll be leaving next week. |
Iphie26:I called them several times and they told me they don't accept wire transfer. That's why I was surprised that you were able to get it. I have sent u a mail pls reply or drop the number u used to reach them( Northside billing) so I can ask for the bank details. Thanks |

DunnyGee:Hi Northside peeps, I ll b leaving next week to Atlanta.Wouldn't mind having some1 to talk to. Please dunnygee, theeds and Sibah can u ask ur questions here that email box is filled up. Thank you. |
MrsDan:Alright. Thank you |
MrsDan:Hi mrsdan, hope u and baby are fine. I was asking about the obgyn group u used and the breakdown of the fees as the doctors only say they charge $2200 excluding lab but seem to be vague on the cost of the lab test. So I was hoping other Northside mummies could help clarify the total as well as the breakdown of fees paid to the obgyn. Thank u. |
Moyinoluwa83:To understand what u wrote. u used the Northside/north point obgyn. I was told by the billing and obgyn coordinator( Judy Furbish) that the doctors fee is $2200 excluding lab tests. Was that the same for you. Therefore your lab tests was the $300 that made it $2500. Please see the mail sent by Judy Furbish of Atlanta women's health group and the billing coordinator for Northside/north point obgyn. Good morning, We will need prenatal labs, repeat HIV, Hgb a1c, Group B Strep, urine c+s, etc. If that is okay and you agrees to pay for what the doctors deem medical necessary we can go ahead and make an appointment. Just let me know. Just to be sure all this things she stated plus obgyn fee covers the $2500 u stated. Because I am scared of being slammed with any unforeseen bill considering how difficult It was for myself and hubby to get dollars.thank you for your previous response. |
Moyinoluwa83:Hi motion, the fee of 2500 does it include prenatals and lab. Thanks |
Hello Northside hospital mummies, Please can help with the procedure/ number for bill payment for self pay patients . I have pre-registered online and would like to make payment before leaving for the U.S. Thanks |
Iphie26:If she claims Northside won't accept ur test results then why is she sending you a list of tests to do or is the one they are to conduct over there |
Iphie26:If she claims Northside won't accept ur test results then why is she sending you a list of tests to do or is the one they are to conduct over here |
Iphie26:Can u forward d list to me or paste it here. Thanks |
Iphie26:I ven't sent my lab results yet but I am surprised with your info cos the mail specifically said I could even the appointment letter said the same but the clause was if Northside would accept it. U can ask ur obgyn to refer u to a pediatrician they usually have ones they refer patients to.i ve dr john m Thomas is $80 for first visit and $60 for second and dr Jeffrey Abrams is $150 for first and $120 for second. Google them and find their contacts and also do some homework and share. Thanks. |
kemmytino:I ve responded |
bigfido:Thanks, I ll do that but intend to send all my tests close to departure date so they are up to date. |
kemmytino:Congrats dear, you referred me to doctor Valisia andrews. I Thot u were using Her as well. Or can you can a better quote than 1700. Please give a briefing on your POE story. Thanks |
adegbitetunji:Her number is +1 404 250 3660 and email - meridianobgyn@yahoo.com. You could have also gotten her number by typing her name in the search or on Google. |
kemmytino:Thanks I finally got thru to her and she gave me a bill of 1700 for vaginal delivery and 1900 for cesarean. This does not include-Lab services for 750, panorama test for 495,circumcision for 495. She said she would accept my Nigerian lab results if they in a standard format eg not handwritten. She has booked me for an appointment Has any one sent medical reports to their U.S. doctor .could you pls help with the format and hospital you used in Nigeria, tests conduct with their costs. This is because my doctor does a lot of writing on my file so I doubt it ll be accepted. Also is it possible to use another doctor for circumcision to reduce the 495 bill stated . Lastly could you help with a pediatrician for Northside hospital. |
kemmytino:Thanks kemmytino, I googled her and got this number +1 (404) 250 3660 but it doesn't go through. Do you have another number? |
kemmytino:Hi kemmytino, I m a first time mum too but ll b coming to Atlanta first week of March. Won't mind having someone to talk to over there. When's ur due date, mine is end of April. I m contemplating using northside or Piedmont but still searching for a doctor within the 2k plus range. I have been making lots of calls but it seems to go to voicemail cos of the holiday. Pls hola if u finally get one and I ll do the same. Although I got through one that asked for $3445 but that's still a bit high. |
Hi everyone, I have been following the thread for a while.i am a first time mum to travel in March with a due date for end of April. Please has anyone had a child in Atlanta e.g Piedmont hospital. Can u provide an estimate of the bill. Also what is a notary document and how do you fo about informing the U.S. embassy of your intent to give birth with the visa issued. Thanks |
@ jtec I applied April 30th, did the personality test but was sent the cognitive numerical just last week which I have done but the link is still active and brings up another numerical test even when I am done with the test and my status reads "in progress". How many times is one to take the numerical test? |
Hi guys, I wrote the CAT numerical reasoning test but my status says "in progress' and when you click on the link again it brings another test. Did anyone experience the same thing. Thanks for the reply ![]() |
