MAROUA, Cameroon (Reuters) - Nigerian Boko Haram insurgents attacked a Cameroon military camp near the town of Waza in the north of the country on Monday, wounding several soldiers, an army spokesman said. Chad, Niger and Cameroon have begun a joint offensive against Boko Haram militants who have killed thousands of people in a bid to carve out an Islamist emirate in northern Nigeria, and have increasingly staged raids across nearby borders. "The wounded are being evacuated. The insurgents have been stopped. An APC (armored personnel carrier) was taken from them and several of them were killed," a Cameroonian military officer told journalists in Maroua, adding the incident was continuing. Earlier this month, Boko Haram fighters killed more than 100 people in the northern Cameroon town of Fotokol, including residents inside their homes and a mosque, a local political leader said. Pandemonium broke out on Tuesday in Warri, Delta State when the Special Assistant to President Goodluck Jonathan on New Media, Mr. Reno Omokri and armed thugs working under his instructions allegedly burglerized a house in Bendel Estate, Warri. Early reports say the perpetrators carted away the sum of N25million naira for a pro-Jonathan's support group to buy votes for President Jonathan during the March 28, presidential election. Impeccable sources who witnessed the incident, told SaharaReporters that Omokri had stormed the apartment in DPPA Housing Estate Warri with armed thugs and some mobile policemen who later fled the scene carrying a “Ghana must go bag” filled with the N25 million naira. SaharaReporters learned that the property in question belongs to Omokri’s late mother, who is already the subject of litigation after his bid to forcefully evict the occupants from the building. Omokri and the occupants of the building, the Oyoros, have been engaged in a legal battle over the building which has been leased to Oyoro's wife, Fina Maiki by Omokri's late mother. Fina Maiki was friend to Omokri’s late mother, who passed while the lease agreement was in force. “Omokri and his armed thugs who arrived the compound in commando like style, shooting sporadically into the air, ransacked the apartment, and stashed the money in a ‘Ghana must go bag’ which they also stole from the apartment. They were well armed and they gained access to the compound after cutting the padlock gate and climbing onto the roof. The perpetrators are said to have left a note behind with the inscription: "eviction notice" bearing Omokri's name, which they had wanted to paste on the wall of the building. “A similar incident happened in 2014 when the estranged Omokri had, after a court proceeding on the case instituted by him, mobilized some people to the premises and boldly painted on the fence the inscription: “This house belongs to Bemigho Omokri, Fina Oyoro is being evicted at Customary Court in case No 561/2012 even when the court was yet to decide on the matter. Omokri is using the presidency to intimidate everybody,” the source stated. According to a source the building, which is located at plot 17, 19 street, of DDPA Housing Estate, Ugborikoko-Effurun, opposite the Warri residence of former governor of the state, Chief James Ibori was abandoned for four years. It was in a dilapidated condition prior to the lease agreement, but was given extensive renovation by the Oyoros after the lease agreement they had with late mother of Omokri, Ms Helen Igbene who then resided in Enugu state. Narrating the incident to SaharaReporters, the occupant of the burglarized apartment and former PDP Ughelli North/Udu Federal Constituency Aspirant, Prince Alex Oyoro, confirmed the story, saying he was away in Abuja when he received a call that armed men led by Reno Omokri unlawfully and illegally invaded and burgled his home. “Omokri for a long time now has been harassing, threatening, and intimidating my family with the presidency over the disputed property which no court of competent jurisdiction had adjudicated on. My wife called me, saying that some armed thugs have invaded my house and that they came with hammer, cutters, ladders and other items. About six of them wore police uniforms and the others on mufti and they came with three cars. They broke the gate, some flew the fence about 8: am and try to force their way into the house. “When they couldn’t, they used the ladder to climb through the ceiling and started ransacking the house, for what I don’t know. They saw a “Ghana must go” bag containing N24million and carried it. The money belong to South-South Mandate, and I was to deposit the money the follow day when I return from Abuja but it appears they calculated I was not in town and that was when they stormed my house. As soon as they got the bag they fled but unfortunately for them they left vital information which contains the name of Reno Bemigho Omokri who happened to be the Special Assistant to the President on New Media. “Before now, this Omokri have been harassing me, claiming that he is the owner of the house and that I should leave the house. Before now he had also taken me to court on the same issue and the matter is still pending in court but he has been trying to get justice through the back door. I don’t know why a man who claim he is working for the President should use the seat of the president to intimidate law abiding Nigerians during this electioneer time. “I believe the attack was political because if it was a landlord and tenant issues, they could have just pasted the purported eviction notice which ordinarily goes with court judgment, but in this case it was not so, they invaded the house, ransacked it and stole from it while shooting sporadically in the name of eviction. So I believe it was political because Reno Omokri, we know his antecedent. He was an aide to Atiku Abubakar and it was through him that they planted him in the presidency again. So if he is working from the opposition and he is a mole in the presidency this incident would reveal it.” Oyoro stated. Continuing, Oyoro who is a coordinator of Jonathan/ Sambo support group, South-South Mandate, called on the police to investigate the matter and ensure that those who invaded his house and stole from it were brought to book. “If Omokri is hiding under the umbrella of the presidency to commit crime-the world would know because this is injustice. The trauma we have passed through would not be left to go let that. We have been sleeping in this roofless house like for three days now- it is unfair, injustice and oppression of the higher day and I pray the law must take its course. “I am also crying to the civil society organization to stand by me on this because this is oppression in high places, I have not done anything wrong to Omokri. I was not the one who took him to court, he did and the courts are yet to decide so where have I gone wrong that Omokri is after our lives?” Oyoro said. Ballots meant for the Nigerian presidential election were found yesterday at the premises of a local printer in the Essex area of London. Our sources said the sensitive election materials, which ought to have arrived in Nigeria earlier in the week, were unsecured at the premises of Panther Printing Services in London. SaharaReporters was able to confirm that a Nigerian firm named Cemoz International Limited had been contracted to print some ballot papers for the 2015 presidential elections. A spokesman for the Independent National Electoral Commission, Kayode Idowu, confirmed to SaharaReporters that Cemoz International Limited was one of the firms awarded the contract to print ballot papers. It appears that, upon getting the contract, Cemoz went shopping for printers in London to print the ballot papers and then contracted these other printers to serially number the ballot papers. Although the ballot papers for the presidential elections for several southwest states were seen lying around the premises of the printing company in Essex, a staff at the company, speaking to a correspondent of SaharaReporters, said the firm only had the contract to print some of the ballot papers for Jigawa State. Thinking that our correspondent worked for Cemoz, the representative of the Essex- based company asked if we could give them more jobs, adding that their company had mastered how to print ballot papers. SaharaReporters later obtained a bill of lading showing that Cemoz planned to ship the ballot papers to Nigeria a few hours before February 14th, the day initially sect aside for the presidential election. INEC subsequently postponed the election for six weeks. Source http://saharareporters.com/2015/02/14/2015-presidential-election-ballot-papers-found-london |

Katsina College, formerly Provincial Secondary School, which Muhammadu Buhari, the All Progressives Congress, APC, presidential candidate, graduated from in 1961, has released Mr. Buhari’s secondary school certificate examination results. The results, obtained exclusively by PREMIUM TIMES Wednesday, confirm Mr. Buhari’s claim that he undertook the University of Cambridge West African School Certificate Examinations and obtained five credits in English Language, Geography, Hausa Language, History, and Health Science. PREMIUM TIMES obtained the computer printout from Cambridge University as well as a statement of result, signed by the current principal of Katsina College, dated January 21, 2015. The results show that Mr. Buhari, a former military head of state, failed in Mathematics and Woodwork, and had a pass in Literature in English. The examination centre number was 8280 while Mr. Buhari’s candidate number was 002. The statement of results is printed on the letter head paper of the Katsina State Ministry of Education, and it shows that the examination took place in 1961. The Cambridge print out also shows the result of 17 other candidates at the centre, including Shehu Yar’adua, a former Chief of Staff, Supreme Headquarters. Controversy over Mr. Buhari’s result escalated Tuesday after the Nigerian Army, which had earlier admitted to having a copies of his certificate, reversed itself saying it could not even attest to the details listed in his records. The spokesperson of the Army, Olajide Laleye, said “Neither the original copy, certified true copy (CTC) nor statement of result of Major-.Gen. Mohammadu Buhari‘s WASC result is in his personal file.” He said while it is the practice in the Nigerian Army that before candidates are shortlisted for commissioning into the officers’ cadre of the service, the selection board verifies the original copies of credentials as presented, “There is no available record to show that this process was followed in the 1960s.” The military’s comments came after the retired general had said that his lost copies of results were with the Army, an explanation he gave ahead of elections February 14. Following reports of the massacre of large numbers of civilians by armed group Boko Haram in north east Nigeria, Amnesty International has expert spokespeople available to comment. “The attack on Baga and surrounding towns, looks as if it could be Boko Haram’s deadliest act in a catalogue of increasingly heinous attacks carried out by the group. If reports that the town was largely razed to the ground and that hundreds or even as many as two thousand civilians were killed are true, this marks a disturbing and bloody escalation of Boko Haram’s ongoing onslaught against the civilian population,” said Daniel Eyre, Nigeria researcher for Amnesty International. “We are currently working to find out more details of what happened during the attack on Baga and the surrounding area. This attack reiterates the urgent need for Boko Haram to stop the senseless killing of civilians and for the Nigerian government to take measures to protect a population who live in constant fear of such attacks,” said Daniel Eyre. Background: Boko Haram militants reportedly attacked Baga and surrounding towns on Saturday 3 January. Since 2009, Boko Haram has deliberately targeted civilians through raids and bomb attacks with attacks increasing in frequency and severity. The effects on the civilian population have been devastating with thousands killed and abducted and hundreds of thousands forced to leave their homes. Evidence gathered by Amnesty International indicates that Boko Haram have committed war crimes and crimes against humanity. The Nigerian government must investigate these violent abuses and ensure that those guilty of committing them are brought to justice. If you've been following the Sony, North Korea and the US government saga then you should know what this is about. But let me give a brief summary because I'm about to board a flight. Sony Pictures released a movie called The Interview, a comedy about a fictional assassination of North Korean leader, Kim Jong Un.. North Korean didn't find it funny and hacked into Sony's computers, rendering thousands of computers inoperable and forced Sony to take its entire computer network offline. That wasn't enough, they then threatened terror attack on US citizens if Sony doesn't cancel showing the movie, forcing Sony to pull the interview from theaters and losing almost $200m. Then the US government got involved and told Sony to go ahead and release the movie, that they don't take lightly to threats and promised to retaliate for the attack on Sony. It looks like they've kept their to promise. North Korea is currently offline. Lol "Internet connectivity between North Korea and the outside world is currently suffering one of its worst outages in recent memory, suggesting that the country may be enduring a mass cyber attack a few days after President Obama warned the US would launch a "proportional response" to North Korea's hack against Sony North Korea, which has four official networks connecting the country to the Internet -- all of which route through China -- began experiencing intermittent problems yesterday and today went completely black, according to Doug Madory, director of Internet analysis at Dyn Research in Hanover, New Hampshire." Bloomberg reports. I find this so hilarious! Moral of the story, don't mess with the USA. Source http://lindaikeji..nl/2014/12/lmao-north-koreas-internet-is-down-you.html?m=1 North Korea experienced sweeping Internet outages for hours before coming back online late Monday. One computer expert said the country's online access was "totally down."Source:https://news.yahoo.com/north-korea-experiencing-severe-internet-200418060.html |

A former governor of Borno State, Ali Modu Sheriff, widely accused of sponsoring Boko Haram insurgents in Nigeria, may be lobbying for the release of the Chad-bound cargo aircraft confiscated in Kano for transporting large consignment of military hardware, PREMIUM TIMES can report today. Sources at the Aminu Kano International Airport, where the plane is currently detained, said Mr. Sheriff visited the Kano airport at about 10 p.m. on Saturday and held discussions with some officials on the possibility of releasing the aircraft. Our sources said on arriving the airport, officials allowed the former governor a secret tour of the aircraft, during which he inspected its consignments. “I was there and I saw him and two airport security officials accompanying him to inspect the plane. I saw the black helicopters and two bullet proof SUVs,” one of our sources said. “I also heard him (Mr. Sheriff) say verbal directive had been given from Abuja for the release of the plane but that authorities of the airport were insisting on written directive.” Mr. Sheriff could not be reached to comment for this story. His known mobile telephone number was switched off for several hours that PREMIUM TIMES called Saturday. He is also yet to reply a text message sent to him. The Manager of the Kano Airport, a Mr. Adamu, told PREMIUM TIMES he is in Abuja and was therefore unaware of Mr. Sheriff’s tour of the detained aircraft. The former Borno governor is a close ally of both the Nigerian president, and the government of Chad – the plane’s final destination. A 2010 Intelligence report by a Nigerian security agency suggested that Mr. Sheriff was personally involved in the recruitment, training and dispatch of Boko Haram fighters, under the full cover of Idris Deby, the Chadian president. Chad is Nigeria’s neighbour. Laying on Nigeria’s northeast shoulder, and sharing long distances of unregulated borders, it is considered a window to safety for Boko Haram fighters. An Australian negotiator engaged by the Nigerian government to bring Boko Haram insurgents to the negotiation table, Stephen Davies, also spoke of how the insurgents named Mr. Sheriff as one of their sponsors during his conversations with the terrorists. Airport officials told PREMIUM TIMES Mr. Sheriff’s verbal pressures to let the plane go was turned down. He was asked to get written permission from “ogas at the top” – authority high up in Abuja – our sources said. After inspecting the plane and holding discussions with local officials, Mr. Sheriff reportedly left for Abuja, Nigeria’s capital city, in a private jet at about 11:30 p.m. Saturday. Security operatives at the Kano Airport had seized the plane when it landed at the facility at about 2a.m. Saturday as a result of technical problems. Crew members of the airplane were immediately detained while investigations continued, officials said. “Security has since been beefed up at the airport in order to ensure proper investigation,” the officials added. The General Manager, Communications, Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria, FAAN, Yakubu Datti, confirmed the seizure of the plane. He said the pilot sought permission to land at the airport after the plane developed problems. “The plane had a technical problem and the pilot sought (for) permission to land at the airport’’, he said. Mr. Datti said security agencies had since commenced investigation into the matter. Security sources told PREMIUM TIMES the plane was travelling to N’djamena, the capital of Chad. PR Nigeria, an agency known for distributing press statements on behalf of the Nigerian military, later circulated a statement saying the aircraft contained “a chopper tucked in it”. “… Intense investigation is ongoing including using diplomatic means to unravel the mission of the aircraft, its origin and destination,” the statement said. This is the third time since 2009 that planes loaded with arms would be arrested in Kano, our correspondent says. The detained planes were later released after investigations. The destination of the latest aircraft has however raised concerns amid increasing worries in Nigeria over Chad’s alleged role in the Boko Haram insurgency plaguing Nigeria’s northeast. The plane and its consignment was initially thought to originate from Russia but the Russian Embassy in Abuja issued a statement denying ownership of the AH-124-100 heavy military transport aircraft. Air cargo experts describe it as one of the biggest serial and strategic heavy lifters in the world. It is intended for the transportation of heavy and oversized cargo and various special-purpose vehicles. Although in commercial use too, the Russian military is beloved to own 14 of the AN-124-100 version of the jumbo cargo jet, manufactured by the Russian Antonov.
